[Star Wars] Nothing quite as thrilling as galactic politics.

THE WAR IS OVER
YE5Musk.jpg

The last Imperial hold outs have been smashed in a critical battle on the planet of Jakku. The combined alliance fleet was able to break apart Imperial resistance, while our brave men and women on the ground drove back any and all counter attacks. Truly, this is a turning point in galactic history.

T0kI0xe.jpg
An alliance trooper leads an attack on a downed Imperial class Star Destroyer

With the Imperial military finally broken, peace can return to the galaxy. The time of the empire is over, now is the time of the new republic.

Chancellor Villecham has been elected as our first chancellor.

eBZocW3.jpg
Our proud and noble chancellor

The senate has been re-established on Hosnian Prime, a clear sign of the New Republics commitment to move galactic power away from the core worlds and the old Imperial capital of Coruscant.

Even now, we look towards securing a long term peace with the last imperial systems. Strict treaties are in place to ensure that they can never again build up a military force that could threaten galactic stability.

The only thing that could possibly endanger us now is if they'd hidden away a third Death Star, but that'd be mad.

Remember to mark your spoilers

Not sure what thread to post in but:

Yeah everything about needing the force to use a lightsaber is absurd. Using a lightsaber would, if anything be easier to use then an actual sword.

Is there a possibility of hurting yourself with it? Sure, but I've also seen a dude slice his own toe off doing iaido, so you know, these things happen.

Lightsabers have basically no weight and will cut through you a lot more quickly if you mess up. Not impossible to use without the force, but a steep learning curve that punishes mistakes.

I doubt that Pre Vizsla had a particularly strong force affinity, and he still stood toe to toe with jedi with his blacksaber (which I want to make an appearance in the films)

Cutting yourself with a blade doing simple cut and thrust like in the film is nearly impossible

You are not going to touch your blade

I have no idea why you would do so and you aren't going to do it by accident

Rebel Squadron Multi Fighter Squadron is a pretty fun mode for making TIE's explode

Go into it as a fun, accessible shooter and try out the various smaller game modes and you'll be fine

Don't go in expecting Battlefield and don't play the 40 person modes exclusively or you'll be disappointed.

I wish a line like this had been included in the movie's actual opening crawl because it never made sense to me why
the Republic would be hesitant to go to war with the First Order or why Leia would need to form a splinter organization. If they had mentioned a strict non-aggression treaty that prevented the Republic from taking official action, that would have made a lot of sense.

The closed thread was asking about other prominent film critics that we have, and I'd like to put forward Mark Kermode as someone who knows films and is great to hear talk about them. He's also always fair in acknowledging where his personal tastes lie in regards to the film. He doesn't just give his opinion as hard fact.

The spooky ghost of trade negotiations in the prequels drove the writers away from any story beats that included the words treaties, midichlorians and course sand.

yeah I was actually getting really frustrated with it until I tried the one where you capture droids

it's a lot more fluid and the smaller map size means you'll have good reason to try out some of the blasters that aren't any good in supremacy or walker assault

It's really pretty and it's fun, but I don't feel like there's enough content to justify the price.

    Get it on sale maybe?

  • InquisitorInquisitor Registered User regular
Battlefront being $60 with a $50 season pass that includes maps (why?!?!?!?) is a deal breaker for me, personally.

  • ShortyShorty touching the meat Intergalactic Cool CourtRegistered User regular
battlefront is good and there's enough content there that if you went through all the modes and played every map once, you'd get at least forty hours of gameplay out of it

if that isn't enough for you....well uh...I guess you only play like Bethesda games and Crusader Kings and Civilization?

  • GumpyGumpy There is always a greater powerRegistered User regular
The "maps as paid DLC" idea is being murdered across the industry and it's a real shame that Battlefront was behind the curve with it.

But yea, if you try everything out you'll get a big chunk of hours. One match on one map on one of the big game modes goes on for about 40 mins.

Okay. Played the tutorial for the X-Wing Miniatures game with my dad. Him as the two First Order Ties and me as the Blue Squadron X-Wing.

I got one Tie to two damage and the other to one damage but a bad roll on my part on evading got my X-wing blown up.

Pretty fun. Now my dad is reading the full rules.

The crazy t-turn thing the X-Wing can do is cool but man did it mess with my head trying to visualize it before doing it. Just like, "Okay where is this X-wing going to be facing afterward?"

I mean more from the standpoint of $60 on a multiplayer-only fps with a scary DLC price tag. we're seeing this more and more these days but is full price worthwhile for 12 multiplayer maps and no campaign? For many, sure. But I'm wishing I had waited for a sale.

Just finished season 5 of the Clone Wars. The last story arc is really good.

Related question: Has anyone read Dark Disciple which is appearently the last canon apperance of Ventress? Is it any good?

honestly, the difference for me, besides gunplay or whatever, between battlefront and CoD is the party system. Battlefront party system blows donkey balls. It's incredibly frustrating to get into a match with your mates. Converserly, just hitting triangle on my ps4 and I can make a party sit in a lobby, and generally mess around with things.

I did get my money's worth from Battlefront, but I barely played it this weekend. CoD took way more of my time.

All I want is some sort of meta rules that combine X-Wing miniatures with Amarda and an as yet unreleased third game that focuses on ground combat so I can organise a proper galactic campaign with friends

The Hokage (火影, Literally meaning: Fire Shadow) is the Kage of Konohagakure, a title bestowed on the village's leader. The Hokage is generally regarded as the strongest shinobi in the village.

I think directly it translates as like...firelord?

    it's a Naruto thing

in that context it means like, "chief of this one particular ninja village"

    ho = fire
kage = Shadow. But here shadow is the name of the leader rank.

I'm glad we all cleared that up. and also outed outselves for the purge
