[MechWarrior Online] Shut this s**t down, it's gotten too weird. (Thread done!)
Man, CW is brutal now with the latest balancing. Nothing like barely getting a win against a bunch of skittles. Pretty much feels as one-sided as back last November when IS even had an extra 15 tons over the Clans except, lol, not this time. I haven't gone up against another Unit yet, but I feel like it would be the most depressing thing ever.
I would love to see PGI's stats from the last week of CW. Clan Bear has taken back almost all of FRR already and Smoke Kitties are a couple days from Terra.
I'd like to say close games are fun, but instead it feels like I have a hand tied behind my back and the only way to win is play as dirty as possible. You can't have a stand up fight if you already know you are going to lose. Combined with the fact that the general Clan "strategy" involves standing on the tallest hill inside the gates and spamming lasers at anything that moves, and each game plays out pretty much exactly the same. It gets old pretty fast now that you can't contest Clans at range anymore. Just take turns dropping arty on them and hope for the best when you get close.
Here are my two games from yesterday where we managed to finally "win" by killing Omega with 0:26 and 1:08 remaining.
Ghost Bears has KCOM, 228, 42ND, and other elite and/or large units. Who were recently in Smoke Jaguar, which is why it super expanded.
So Meta Mechs updated their Inner Sphere Teir List with the latest changes. Good news everybody! The IS has TWO Teir 1 heavies now! I bet you already know which they are, of course, the Thunderbolt and Gra... Wait, I'm sorry, its right here on the page.

Yeah that list is weird. The QKD-4G got crushed by the last set of changes and should have fallen lower than T2. The GHR-5H is a Tier 1 mech. The GHR-5J again isn't a good grasshopper but it's not a Tier 4 mech either.

I've been tellin people not to sleep on the Black Knight but nobody listened. That thing shreds.

Griffin Report:
GRF-2N is a monster with 4xSRM6+A, 2xSL, ECM (XL engine, zoom around, kill everything)
GRF-3M also capable of doing work with 4xSRM6+A (STD engine, twist to protect the hunch)
GRF-1N I tried for a very long time with 3xSRM4+A, 3xML/3xSPL (STD engine, twist to protect the hunch) but it's just not as good as that job as the GRF-3M so I finally gave up on it. Instead, now running 2xLRM10+A, 1xTag, 2xMPL (XL260) and having a much better time of things.

You could just as easily drop the size of a few of the launchers, or drop some engine for more ammo, or a couple of jets.
I'm not a fan of the XL in the -2N, myself. I run a STD with 4xSRM4, and it puts in more-than-acceptable work.
Prompted by hydro's fire sale, I went through and sold off a bunch of excess clan mechs since, with omnis, you really do only need one one you elite them.
Sitting on 71 million cbills now and a whole slew of empty mech bays.
Good call, @Hydrosqueege . Now I can fix up the gundams I actually like.

I know you guys are rolling around in your piles of money like Scrooge McDuck, aglow with the warm fuzzies only multi-million C-bill influxes of cash can provide. And yes, this is more than likely from the sale of underperforming chassis.
But I would like to point out that, at least for the purposes of CW, having multiples of a chassis (i.e. triplets of a Clan 'Mech all constructed the same) can have utility.
Granted, those are likely trips T.Wolf/Jaguar/Hellbringer, but still. You never know when the Summoner will suddenly become top tier! (Yes, I'm dreaming.)
Very true. The meta could change, quirks can shift whateves. I kept at least 2 to 3 of the best clan mechs. Still have 3 jags, 4 timbers, 4 cheetahs. But I sold down to 1 or 2 of the mechs I really don't like or the ones I haven't really messed with. And I kept ones with a unique CT hardpoint just in case.
I'm not a big fan of assaults, so those got hit the hardest. But I still have 2 dire wolfs, 2 executioners and whatnot. I don't do clan CW, so that's probably not going to be an issue. Even if a particular variant becomes better than the other, I'll still tend to use the Prime because of cbill bonuses.
All in all, I came to the realization that 230 mechs is way too many when I only enjoy playing a handful. Culling the IS and 2C mechs will be harder since the hardpoints are unique per variant and the quirks for IS seem to change on a whim sometimes.

Well both of them are rich enough to buy them back again when they become good.
Unfortunately I doubt that Soundwave (Summoner) will ever be good.

This is the potential thing that makes me saddest, since my love for the Summoner coming from the tabletop game is just endless.
Built Like A Tank! I've played numerous games piloting a Thor that have ended with me missing a leg, one or both arms, a side torso, and 80% of its armor, and still managed to somehow pull through. The Prime never has the most guns on the field, but it's been just so durable for me it's ridiculous.
And the MWO version of it just doesn't live up to that.
My problem playing MWO is that I tend to only have 2 weapon groups in all my mechs. The only time I have three is when I have a LRM system that I can just press the 3 key. So my builds tend to be even half as good as when I played Battletech on the TT. I think that the Summoners are fine, the only problem is that there are other mechs in MWO that are better. I still see a few of them being piloted and doing a decent job, but are overshadowed by the Hellbringers, Ebon Jags and Timber Wolves. Which reminds me, I need to play my new Timber Wolves so I can master them since I bought them on the sale. Also thinking of changing my UAC5 Dire Wolf over to a 4 LBX-2 hilarity.
Only reason I mentioned 4LBX2s is that I was spectating a SWOL guy firing them off and liked his build. The guy said he pulls it out when he wants some laughs which honestly MWO needs more of.

the 5J is still the weakest grasshopper.
But its a solid as fuck mech with 6xMPL and a 1xSRM4, especially now with its acceleration/deceleration quirks.
I used to add it to my drop deck just for more cbills, when I tried to play to its quirks with LLs.
But now its generally my first drop because it fucks shit up.

-2N is symmetrical, so it's safer to run XL on it as compared to other Griffins, and the speed is really a big help.
Ammo wise, 4.5 tons for 4 launchers is about right to me, maybe a half ton more would be nice but I didn't find anywhere I wanted to shave weight. It's 900 damage from ammo anyway, so if you used all that up and the match is still going in any meaningful fashion something went very wrong.
If I can get off 25 salvos I'm set for almost any match.
Less than that and I'm at risk of simply missing with the majority of my damage output
Also, with how often I've seen dusting with weapons, I now go into a match assuming that roughly half my maximum munitions damage is going to be eaten by the server instead of transferred to my target(s).

For the record, I did keep two of each of the good clan mechs in case I ever lose my mind and want to play clans in CW. I mainly got rid of the chaff that served no purpose. Kit Foxes, the 3rd thru 5th Timberwolves, etc.
I will say that the clan packs seemed to be much less value for your dollar after taking a good hard look at what was worth keeping. I think the omni system made the mechs worth less overall, simply due to how modular they are. I won't be buying more omnis in a big pack like that again.

And let's face it: fully half of Wave 2 is damned near worthless in a combat effectiveness standpoint (arguably, the Gargoyle could also be lumped in with being worthless alongside the Mist Lynx and Ice Ferret). Honestly, if it weren't for the Hellbringers and Mad Dogs, I'd've been pissed with Wave 2. As it is, I'm just annoyed.

now on to the worthless clan mech purge
.....and maybe a pair of Kit Foxes...ugh, not a fan of those.
now thats a nice pile of cbills.
sold off 1 Direwolf, 1 Executioner, 1 Warhawk, 2 Gargoyles, 2 Summoners, 1 Hellbringer, 1 Ebon Jaguar, 1 Mad Dog, 1 Shadow Cat and 2 Kit Foxes.
not selling any 2C mechs yet, nor some others i havent played to level up.

it's pretty much completely outclassed by the other three, even when running the build that ought to be its niche (3-4xERlla)
metamechs generally speaking is kinda questionable, although I think black knights are sort underrated

like, first wave everyone in Atlas S with 340 engines, 4xSRM6 and AC20.
Second wave, 8Mlas Grasshopper 5N
Third Wave, AC20 Enforcers.
Final Wave, Disco DeathBack 9xSPL Hunchbacks with 275stds
