So far I rewatched Galaxy Quest and Dogma. I only had the heart for comedy tonight. I've queued up Perfume, CBGB, Sense & Sensibility, and A Little Chaos for tomorrow. Man, this sucks y'all.

I intend to rewatch Galaxy Quest at some point this weekend
and while I enjoyed Dogma back when it came out and would probably still love his role as Metatron, I don't know how I'll view that movie as a whole these days
I was just thinking to myself last night, the delivery of the "By Grabthar's hammer... what a savings" line from Galaxy Quest is just acting masterwork. Maybe I'm being biased due to the circumstances, but Rickman just sells it. The tone, facial expressions, his choice of when to pause on the line. It's just perfect.
Does anyone know if he was currently working on any in-production roles? I know he was doing a voice in the new live action Alice movie, and one other thing I believe.

Just re-watched Bottle Shock. What a solid movie. Chris Pine has such a shit-eating grin. It feels good every time he gets hit. Also Alan Rickman's wink at the airline counter. Goddamn that man is a treasure.

yea I'd say it's pretty good, Alan Rickman is great, and it is apparently based on a true story.
I just want to take this moment to say that I love Love Actually and I don't care who knows it. And the storyline with Alan Rickman and Emma Thompson is easily the most realistic and heartbreaking part of that movie. I dislike him more in that role than almost any of his actual 'villain' roles but damn if he doesn't knock that one out of the park too.
Plus it's responsible for a scene between Alan Rickman and Mr. Bean. I mean come on.
Love Actually is really great
Some of the stories are stronger than others, but they're all fun, which is all I ask for from my Christmas romcom
I kind of find the whole thing outside of Rickman's plot to be weird and gross.
Are you saying you don't find Rickman's plot to be weird and gross?
Cuz I'm not gonna pretend the relationships in Love Actually ain't fucked up
But Rickman's is literally the most obviously weird and gross
What I meant was, Rickman's plot was the most believable and dealt with in a mature, reasonable way that could have been the whole movie.
Every single other subplot was gross, not because they were in the movie or oogie, but because they were treated with the same respect that Rickman's was.
And Andrew Lincoln confessing his love to his best friend's new wife whom he'd never spoken to before that moment a few days after his best friend married her and then smiling and walking away being treated with the same tone as a fractured marriage slowly falling apart is the gross part.
"A new take on the epic fantasy genre... Darkly comic, relatable characters... twisted storyline."

Seriously, that's one of the best movies ever.
"I know! You construct a weapon. Look around you – can you form some sort of rudimentary lathe?"
His voice alone could have carried him to absurd success. Then it turned out he was an incredible actor on top of that.
