Sorry to butt in, but still no chance of a PC port, right? I really want to play this, but not enough to buy a console for it.
No, Bloodborne was heavily funded by Sony and is a very strong console-selling exclusive. They're never gonna port it.
In the absolute best case fantasy scenario, they might allow From to do a PC port just before Bloodborne 2 comes out to drive up the hype. Y'know, let the PC players taste the awesomeness, and if they want more they gotta get a PS4.
But that scenario requires a lot of ifs and buts and fairy dust.
I believe ARC scaling for weapons ends at 50? Or at least good scaling does. I'm getting only 1 point of AR per two ARC points invested, if I'm remembering correctly.
That said, this character has 30 VIT, 12 STR (for Tonitrus), and like 54 ARC right now. I'm loving it. Saw Cleaver with fire gems is wrecking some things. Tonitrus is taking care of the rest. I just got to Rom in the Lower Pthumerian CD. Keep dying to stupid mistakes. I get the fight, just need to lock down my caution and not take major risks.
Karoz re: the Tiny Tonitrus, that's what blood bullets are for! It's pretty much 1:1, blood vial:blood bullets (5). You could theoretically melt something down with 20 hits from TT, if you're willing to burn that much healing.
Ha, I just reached Rom 2.0 this morning as well. Was doing really well with Olek (bosses I already beat solo I don't care about summoning help) and he head smooshed me when he was almost dead.
Stoopid spider.
I'm kinda coming around on the Chalice Dungeons but they definitely need to be paced out and have more rooms select from if Bloodborne 2 ever comes out.
I beat the game and got the sunrise ending. I completed as much as I could. I realized after getting the ending that I could have cheesed my save file with psplus to get all three endings in a single day, but whatever. The dlc was solidly good and I think the only thing I missed were the chalices, but I don't think I want to play again for a while. I want to finish DS3 now. I'll miss you Bloodborne!!!!!!!
I finally opened the ailing chalice dungeon and will hopefully have beast claws today. Time to be really happy/disappointed.
Any advice for grinding bolt gems?
@Karoz bolt gems are tough to come by. There is only one that I know of in the base game as a pickup (Yahar'gul, on a corpse in the cell behind the first bell ringing woman you encounter). In the DLC, the lightning mages in the final area can drop three gem types up to like 20.5% (Radial being common, Waning/Triangle being rare).

The DLC was the only part that legitimately frightened me. Those frog sharks sucked and they always will. Also, thw gold headset makes the thunder sound real.
Never mind the thunder; the creep factor is PL9k with regard to whispering voices in the Hamlet. Like, legitimately disturbing. Sounds far enough away to be a warning, but juuuuuust close enough to think you'be already gone mad. And the gurgling sounds. Oh my god, the gurgling sounds...

Ended up stumbling across some while getting the Beast Claw (still need to kill Laurence for the rune though alas beasthood doesn't make arcane or other elemental damage scale). It's a pretty rad weapon and while it's shorter range than Tonitrus I don't have to worry about keeping it "lit" but I'll still put it through the paces to see which I like more. Thanks for the info though!
Now I've got Beast Claw I'm basically done with Chalice Dungeons. The bosses have basically become NG+ versions of earlier ones (I know there are still some unique ones to be found) and that means they are mostly damage sponges that hit like a truck. It was a fun diversion and lots of good loot but rather samey.
Old Hunters was a waste of $20. I'm not going to punish myself by fighting nothing but stupidly hard enemies that kill me in two hits of a saw spear. Before I even get to a boss of any kind.
I'll beat the game for the third ending and my platinum then shelve it. Still the second best dark souls game, but it wears out its welcome if you spend too much time with it. There's not enough variety to wring playthrough after playthrough like I did with all the others Souls.

I understand where you are coming from. I was there too, but I stuck with it and by the end it was awesome. Not the insanely tough enemies. No ( although they do become trivial after a while imo). It was great because of how the story and atmosphere progresses as you go along. You're in a nightmare and nothing makes sense, but as you go along then at some point your like..... "Damn".

What level are you trying the DLC at? I mean that stuff is some of the best gameplay in the game. It's a bit rough at first but once you start getting things down it's not hard to adapt. And like a lot of this game you can really just run around grabbing stuff while keeping away from the enemies if you're just interested in the items.
Found parrying to be absolutely essential in Old Hunters. Playing on a level 80 character and learning to parry the old hunters large parry windows took it from frustrating to quite doable.
68 is on the low end of average level for the DLC. Is your vit low? I'd recommend 25 at the bare minimum and 35 for comfort. The 147 character should be able to bulldoze it unless you're on NG++.
I completed a second playthrough, avoiding almost all of the optional content. Shadows of Yharnam were a pain this time around, and I summoned the NPC to take some of the heat off. Gehrman was similarly difficult until I remember how to fight him. Practically every other boss went down first time.
I should continue on with my chalice dungeon trawl, I suppose.
Everytime i have reason to look at this or the dark souls thread, I get the urge to go back and finish dark souls 3 (I got stuck on the third to last boss or so, and it fell by the wayside). Then i pick up the controller and realize just how different the game feels compared to every other game and how ive completely lost / forgotten all the timings needed to play the game effectively, get wrecked a few times and realize my save game is basically invalid and that id have to start over from scratch to relearn it all.
Back when I first played DeS , DS1 & 2 I tried to play them like a Zelda or Metroid game - all about the exploration. Naturally I found them very frustrating and not much fun, even though I managed to get about half way through them (in DS1&2, DeS hahaha no I beat like Legion and thats it) then just lost interest. Recently though I got really interested in the series again for reasons and picked up Bloodborne and DS3 on Christmas sales.
This time I'm approaching it from more of a Monster Hunter or fighting game "embrace the challenge" point of view and having MUCH more fun. The exploration is part of the fun, but not the goal and instead I try to be as well timed with all my weapon swings and dodges (or blocks in DS3) as I can. I don't think of bosses or even regular mobs as obstacles to see more of the world, but as the point of being IN the world in the first place. Its made the whole thing so much more rewarding and fun than when I played the previous games.

Man, I fought the Henwick Witch and totally forgot to record the fight for posterity! Beat her first time though so I feel good about that. Apparently there's no where else to go in Henwick though so I guess it's back to the Cathedral Ward to try and find what I've been missing.

Still important so you can start using Caryll runes. Also one of my favorite fights just because of how weird it is. Not hard, just weird, as the obvious enemy isn't the boss at all. And then a second twist.
Finally beat Abhorrent Beast in Ailing Loran Chalice! All I needed was a break. Haven't played in about a week but I want to finish the chalices. Killed it on my 3rd try. It's a lot easier when you are calm and not swearing up a storm.

So a few things right now
I've gotten to the Forbidden Woods and met up with the gentleman from the League, though I don't know how you get the League Cane, is it just a regular Trick Cane? Anyway, I want to get the runes for all of the covenants, and I want to unlock the third ending. I think I've only gotten one of the umbilicals so far, I plan on not killing Iosefka until after Rom is dead if I can help it. I wish there was a way to keep track of how many umbilicals I've used, though I guess maybe I should have just saved it so I'd know when I had enough. I also want to complete Eileen's quest and I don't know if there's something I should be doing at this point towards that.

RE: Eileen's Quest —
I can't remember the exact timing, but I believe that (if you haven't already) your next step will be to return to Gacoigne's "boss arena". I'm not sure how wide the window is for that step, but I think it should still be available. If it's not,
then you've failed her quest. If you've already done that step, the final part of her quest is fairly unavoidable and available closer to the end-game.
Brainsuckers are such bullshit. Just lost another 10 insight to the layer 1 boss in Great isz chalice.

Yeah I missed it, goddamnit. I guess I need to read the wiki on every character I meet so they don't accidentally disappear while I progress in the game

Getting... 18? For the Augur of Ebrietas is also pretty useful if you want to use 2h weapons and still parry.

If I were still interested in using the Tonitrus would picking up like 18 arcane make that decently usable?

I'm not sure what you're asking, but the GDQ stream is here: GDQ
They're currently on the Diablo run, so the Bloodborne run is an estimated 3 hours from now.

Also hilarious to do with low/0 insight.
Can you elaborate on this? Are you referring to the scarecrows not being there?

Yeah, and if you have 0 insight the Witch is just the Witch, no summons. It was a very different run for me compared to my first time down Hemwick.
Also here's my boss fights with the Shadows of Yharnum and Rom the Vacuous Spider
Anything else usually requires far more investment in arcane so not recommended unless you've already been going in that direction.
Tonitrus barely uses Arcane, so yes.
Actually when you transform it goes to S+ arcane scaling. It's a weird little weapon
i was really unimpressed with the moonlight sword and wheel on my pure arcane build
