I'm going to be brainstorming jewrangers stuff all day

The menorahzord has to have a dreidel fist that it can fire like a rocket.

But what are the individual zords that combine into the menorahzord?

I have a podcast about Digimon called the Digital Moncast, on Audio Entropy.

Can you clarify that for us

    uh

    yes

    you um

    its 'jewranger'

THIS IS NOT MY FAULT THATS JUST HOW YOU SAY IT
    As a Jewish person

    This makes me super happy

    Now I'm imagining a menorahzord

I'm gonna be real dissapointed if the jewrangers don't defeat the forces of Treif with their Kosher Kannon

Well, they fight Satan. Who, if I recall correctly, is a Christian thing ("satan" in the Old Testament/Torah being not a specific individual, but a term meaning "adversary"). So, uh, not sure what that means exactly.

Not just any Satan. Great Satan.

    Satan IS pretty great.

    Please Joel

    'Great Satan'

We must maintain the correct honorifics

I mean, that's an accurate description of him, really, the great adversary. Just another way to say "final boss". But it still feels like anti-American extremism to say it.

BFL, please come on Teenagers With Attitude sometime and give us your pitch for Jewrangers.

For people wanting to dip their toe in Discworld, I strongly recommend Small Gods. It's some of Pratchett's best work and is almost entirely stand-alone. If you like it, you'll probably like the more interconnected stuff too.

I was thinking of four zords representing the four sides of a dreidel, but I can't not love something called the "Bagelzord".

When they defeat a monster they spin a dreidel and it lands on the bad side and they are imprisoned in it

Unfortunately, on the Power Rangers side, I'm up to near the end of Zeo and the only canonically Jewish people are the evil moon people, and a friend the Power Rangers have in school that teaches them about computers and hanukkah.

Like is the zord itself a giant menorah, or does it just use one as a weapon?

Also the HG2G movie is great all the way up until they get on the Heart of Gold. Sam Rockwell is shit as Zaphod, the plot makes no sense, the love triangle is contrived, Marvin looks dumb but sounds perfect.

It briefly gets okay again when they get to Magrathea because Bill Nighy is awesome as Slartibartfast, but then they finagle a happy ending out of everything and argh fuck everything.

Really, if it's a menorahzord, I feel like it's gotta have eight pieces.

Also, SimBen, does Power Rangers seriously have a Hanukkah episode?

Really, if it's a menorahzord, I feel like it's gotta have eight pieces.

    seriously, this is a no-brainer

and when it forms, the head pops out from the middle and catches on fire and that's the shamas

Each individual zord has it's own thing going on, but it also has a candle on it somewhere and that's where they connect up.

Also, SimBen, does Power Rangers seriously have a Hanukkah episode?

The Zeo holiday episode features the bad guys putting a discord spell on everyone and making everyone not give a shit about other people's holidays.

And since none of the Rangers are believably Jewish, the job of teaching kids about hanukkah falls to Raymond, the kid who knows about computers who taught it to them in the 90s Internet Episode and is at one time red-herringed when they're teasing the identity of the Gold Ranger.

Yes, the bad guys essentially weaponize the War on Christmas. Tanya goes all "fuck your Christmas, Kwanzaa's great".

Oh and I forgot the best part of the episode

at the end, it fades to grandpa Tommy in the future telling his grandson about that one holidays and the kid's grandma is Kat and the kid's dad is now the Red Ranger.

Presumably we're about 17 seasons of Power Rangers away from catching up with that canon and I fully expect them to respect it.

Series 1 has a few chuckles, but I think the first real good episode of Red Dwarf is Better Than Life.

Season 1 you could pretty much skip to Everybody's Dead Dave, then the scene where Dave has the same interaction with Rimmer twice in Future Echoes, then the Quagaars bit from Waiting For God, and finally the two Rimmers working out in Me². After that you're good to go. Except you can probably skip Back To Earth, but Series 10 is faaaantastic.

Red dwarf is fantastic but I could never get over how baaaaaad the accents for the cat and the robot were
The craziest thing for me was finding out that that's Robert Llewellyn's actual accent

Red Dwarf seasons 5 and 6 are contenders for having some of the best episodes of any television show ever made.

I could watch The Inquisitor, Quarantine, and Gunmen of the Apocalypse over and over and laugh my ass off every time.

thinking about it now, i don't really watch too much british comedy, or british tv comedy at least

i usually only wind up watching it once it's become a movie, a la in the loop or the trip

my buddy just showed me garth marenghi's dark place though and that's pretty fantastic

White Hole, Back To Reality, Quarantine and Backwards are my favorites.

Although I might now have to add Fathers & Suns, Lemons and Dear Dave to the list. Series 10 is legitimately incredible.

"Like HG2G but for fantasy" is pretty much the one-line pitch for Discworld

or you could describe Hitchhiker's as "like Discworld but for sci-fi" if coming at it from the other side
