[Hearthstone] THIS THREAD IS DOOMED! POST IN THE NEW ONE!
I've got an eadric. I'm very seriously considering dusting him to get enough dust for tirion.
I do this every time I get about 1000 dust. I slowly start looking through my collection, working out what I can afford to dust to pick up that last bit of dust
So Lifecoach played some Secrets Paladin at the beginning of the season apparently, so I'm watching him to get some learning in.
It's somewhat indicative of how bullshit the deck is that I'm watching a VOD of Lifecoach playing ranked on two servers at the same time, the deck is that easy for him to use.
So I decided not to grind up to 5 this season ... but then I changed my mind on the last day and I just made it! With, like, one hour to spare! Hooray for epics! Hooray for OCD!

I would recommend to keep him, because his pseudo board clear effect is really powerful. He's just too slow to be played in a mainstream deck right now. If control paladin gets a boost in future (and Blizzard seems to like paladins!), I would expect him to be played.
at the same time, generally speaking, if you have a card in a card game where you're like "the meta just needs to slow down for this guy to see some play"
I would have loved Eadric had he been around back when control paladin was a thing.
Unfortunately, control paladin really hasn't been a thing since Naxx hit, so...
Just got a concession on turn 4 from a Mage. Got the star, but I kinda feel bad for the guy.
Him 1: Pass
Me 1: Pass
Him 2: Unstable Portal for ... a Wisp bwah-bwah
Me 2: Coin Deathlord
Him 3: Ping the Deathlord
Me 3: Divine Spirit, Inner Fire, go face for 14 damage
Him 4: Concede
Makes me feel a little better for the previous Mage match, where he killed my Deathlord on, like, turn 4 to pull Antonidas, and proceeded to cast the four spare parts he'd built up, saying "Thank you, thank you, thank you" until I squelched him. Fucker.
Unfortunately the Hearthstone community at large is a hive mind that just latches on to whatever is commonly accepted to be high tier and plays it to death

While this is true for all multiplayer games, Secret Paladin is almost as difficult to deal with as old Patron was, while also being 200% easier to play.
Happiness is within reach!

So uh, today I just decided to play some Secret Pally for funsies (it's my own twist on it, Brann + Gormok, though I switched out Brann for a BoK about halfway through), and just accidentally climbed from Rank 10 to Rank 5.
huh.
(thanks to @Roz for keeping me company most of the way! also I did manage to get off a Brann + Gormok before I took Brann out, and it gave me lethal >:D )

Pretty much. Expect Zoolock to make a return given it's back into Tier 1 in this week's Meta Snapshot.
Speaking of which, when will LiquidHearth get around to another power rank? It's been over a month now.
I really wish HS had replays. Because the last game I played as a Shadowform Priest against a Reno Mage was amazing. At least @Konphujun got to experience it live.

Nah, Secret Paladin has more than one genuinely bad matchup. Grim Patron just had Control Warrior as a bad matchup.

Handlock was also bad for Patron when they didn't run Commanding Shout (which was only teched in for handlock, basically).
And yeah no, saying Secret Paladin is nearly as bad as pre-nerf Patron is just dishonest. The plain fact is they don't OTK you, nor punish you for playing minions--in fact, one of the best ways to beat Secret Pally is to have a good board set up going into turn 6 so you can navigate the secret maze properly.
Like, for example, Control Priest is actually pretty good against Secrets Pally because it's board clears and removal out the ass. And then the secret pally runs out of threats (eventually), it's not a countdown to the turn they'll inevitably be able to smash you in the dome for 30+. Much more manageable. Control Warrior can be similar, except it needs to draw its removal in the right order even moreso than Priest has to.

yeah I hate secrets pally but it is, afaik, exactly how this game ought to work. patron had like 3 different flavors of bullshit.
patron had a key card basically deleted from the game and it's still a good deck. imo very good, and I really like playing it as it is now.

The only deck that was ever as bad as Grim Patron was old Miracle Rogue and maaaaybe Huntertaker. Secret Paladin is strong and obnoxious but it's not nearly as bullshit as those were.
At various times in this game's lifespan I've been sick to death of playing against: Zoo, Miracle Rogue, Face Hunter, Mech Mage, Midrange Hunter, Handlock, Face Hunter (again), Oil Rogue, Zoo (also again)...And now its Secret Paladin, yup.
But there's always gonna be *some* dumb deck that seems to be the Next Big Thing™ everybody wants to play on ladder. Just gotta learn to deal with it.

Freeze Mage is up there with Midrange Druid as "goddamn these decks" that never really go away.

I've always hated Freeze Mage (and still do) just because its so mind numbingly boring to fight and uninteractive. But its never been popular enough that I've had to deal with it every other match (and often several times in a row) the way the ones I listed have been.

IIRC it used to be super popular back in beta, I bet that is what he's hinting at

Ah yeah, that's a good point. Thankfully I missed that since I started playing in open beta rather than the closed before it got nerfed some.
Hell, if it gets to the point in the future that Freeze Mage is 35-50% or more of the ladder I just won't be playing constructed anymore...

Why not just play Warrior to a free legend instead?

I think he might have a place in Anyfin, goven the frantic board-clear and stall I've seen them deploy.

You put it into BGH range, NEXT LEVEL
I thought this week's episode was especially good.
Played mage and I got for 4 games in a row in my starting hand Alex + Rhonin + Malygos. Each game was 3-4 turns.
Also got a golden Cho from a pack. I really want to make a deck around him now.
Praise be RNGsus!
Well, it does use Rick and Morty's "Goodbye Moonmen" and Undertale's "Bonetrousle," so that goes a long way already

Safe to say that this was hands down my favorite brawl. 72-7.
On the other hand, keep running it, the free wins are delicious.

Over 21% of the people I played last season were running Paladins. 50% of the people I played last season were either Paladins, Druids or Mages.
Variety is the spice of life. Blizz plz.

Sometimes Blessing of Kings instead of Belcher, for when you need that extra charging face damage.
