Even if you were to update old cards to bring them in line with newer sets, I really doubt that would diversify the amount of competitive decks. People are always going to find the best cards with the best synergies. In addition, Hearthstone is an extremely popular game and there are a lot of talented people playing it and a lot of sources of information devoted to it. So not only will people find the "best" deck for each class no matter what, but the general playing populace has very easy access to those decks.
i don't think it's unrealistic to have a few competing decks within the same class that are equally good.
I didn't say there can't be multiple competitive decks within a class, I said that there is always going to be a best deck, maybe 2, per class. That's how the game has borne out the past two years, I don't see why it wouldn't continue that way.
It feels weird that they'd pick an expansion theme that is so much more in theme with one class (or two classes) than the others... because honestly, how are you going to make Hunter or Warrior cards as thematic as those belonging to Warlock or Priest? Druid, Mage and Rogue...I can get behind those, but Warrior and Hunter just don't feel very in tune with Cthulhian mythos and cyclopian architecture.

They made it work for Mechs so they can probably make it work here as well. Probably just need to add some variation of "corrupted" and you're good. More Berserker-types (all that whispering drove them mad) for Warrior and forsaken Beasts for Hunter.

I dunno, I wouldn't say the theme belongs to any one class, though it certainly meshes well with the classes you mentioned. I think there will be plenty of opportunity for interesting cards for every class, not to mention that many of the cards won't have much or anything to do with the Old Gods, thematically.
But take, say, Paladin. There could be lots of cards that thematically deal with fighting back against the influence of the Old Gods. Or also, corrupted paladins who give in to the whispers!
Patch is up, Lady Liadrin is the new Paladin hero, available through a WoW promo. Plus there's some more tags to search in the collection.
Wait, what? Just, bam, here's a new hero skin? First I'd heard of it.
I assume there's going to be a website post before it's actually available. After the reaction to the previous ones, they probably aren't too worried about hyping it.
Wait, so you can't get the new paly hero unless you do something with WoW?
Correct. Probably why shes not promoted that much.
That sounds really dumb.
Like, even if you don't promote her, how much effort must've gone into making a new hero?
Graphics, voice acting, animation? Custom Interactions?
I mean, I wouldn't pay $10 for it anyway but geez.

Apparently (the patch is not on Android so I cannot confirm) you can dust all the adventure cards right now. They'll probably revert it if you do, but hey why not I guess.

Come on MMMig, you've been playing Blizzard games long enough to know they love their cross-promotional stuff.
Cross-promotion is fine, but come on if I want to spend money on some cosmetic shit just let me.
Dude that's literally what cross-promotion is denying you :P
Basically every cross promotion thing is [do shit in other game for cosmetic reward]. Win 100 games in Hearthstone for a Heroes mount, do something in Heroes (I think hit level 10?) do get a Hearthstone cardback, hit level 70 with a seasonal DIII character to get a Heroes mount, etc.
I don't play coin because surely no mage would be stupid enough to play counterspell turn 3 going first. It was counterspell, what the fuck is wrong with you?
At least the next game a mage esportaled herself to death
Rank 14 I swear.

I call this getting "Rank 15'd." Because it's a bad play that you never see coming and you lose to it because you're expecting something else and played too fast/made assumptions, but this shit only happens above Rank 10 and it's real goddamn annoying because it means you have to actually think about games instead of playing on autopilot.
They need to fix the ladder reset system already. It's not fun for me to have to bully my way back to 5+ every month, and it's certainly no fun for a bunch of new/learning players to get crushed by veterans every month.
After hearing so much for so long about how fitting more deck slots into the UI represents some kind of incredible design challenge, it is almost unbelievable how basic their solution was. The collection manager already had a scroll bar (it now scrolls down more) and the second page of the play menu(that also already existed) now lets you replace basic decks with custom decks. Took them two years to get that designed and implemented.
So recipes... Some look like current popular decks but they look untested. Like they have questionable choices on purpose to let leaning players fix them but then you can just google the same deck with all the right cards in the right place.

seriously. i don't understand why they don't just start you at the rank you ended at. maybe require you to get 3 wins or something at that rank to get the season prizes? i don't know.

That was my absolute first thought. I think they were debating as to whether or not they should charge for it.

I am almost certain they were trying to figure out a more elegant solution than just a scrollbar/multiple windows, and really could not find a way to do it without a total overhaul of the game's UI and design, so they settled on this.
Russian patch notes claimed that you only had to get to level 20 in WoW to unlock Liadrin - which is as high as their Free to Play version goes. So this might be pretty easy for just about anyone to get. That particular note has since been deleted though...
They need to lower ranks because Hearthstone ladder isn't a zero sum game. Over time the number of stars increases due to not losing at ranks 20+ and win streak stars.
I don't think it needs to be as strong as it is right now though, -5 ranks would be plenty. Legend players have to reearn Legend from rank 5 and rank 5 players don't need to stomp their way up to 10.
