Eh, WoW gave me a lot of socializing that I would not have had otherwise in highschool. And some of those friendships lasted a long time, I was a groomsman at one of my old tank's weddings this fall.

Just a warning for all of you leveling a toon not from scratch. It is not working yet and Blizzard is looking into this.
On another news is anybody else having graphic issues on Android with this new patch? I'm trying a reinstall to see if I had a corrupted file somehow, but the screen was this beautiful shade of pink.

I got loads of characters from before 2010, do those count?
Doesn't work retroactively. You've got to earn level 20 after the 11th of March (Friday last week)
What's the point of this promotion then? I get wanting to encourage people who don't play WoW to try it out. If you already play it, what good does it do them for me to waste my time leveling up an alt I'm going to delete? Do they just want the newbie areas to be really populated for a month?
I'm proud to say that I've never had a WoW character and never will.
It was a fun game. I had a lot of great times with it, mostly because I played with a bunch of jokers I really liked, like human beings I wanted to hang out with doing just about anything.
But I wouldn't go back to it.
Edit: well ok, if it really takes 30 minutes to hit Level 20, I might go back for the hero, but that's about it.

The point, as with all cross promotions, is to get people who aren't playing WoW to make new characters (and to get WoW players to check out Hearthstone when they unlock a free thing in it). If you already play both games I don't imagine Blizzard much cares if you think it's pointless, they already have their hooks in you firmly.

yo, I just remembered how I spent all my time on wow flying the hearthstone mount. Totally forgot that was a thing.
Because the engineering flying mount had THE MOST ANNOYING particle effects.

How does making it not retroactive accomplish that goal better?

because making it retroactive would require additional work to get it working? and if they don't care about that demographic, why do that work?

Not fostering ill will in your customer base feels like a reason.

Retroactive doesn't get the lapsed players to log in and quest again. They really want to grab that demographic too.

You won't see much new stuff leveling your 10th character to 20.
Your old raid buddies see you're in WoW on their friends list and are like "yo dude, you playing again? Come hit us up, we're running some real cool new stuff!" and then you're sucked back in.

And let's be honest. Hardly anyone is raiding shit now. This is the pre-expansion dead air time.

Well, luckily I had a shaman at levl 15. que a few hours later with a final run thru wailing caverns + the cavern's quest and level 20 get.
Greetings Starfighter! You have been recruited by the Star League to defend the frontier against Xur and the Ko-Dan Armada.
The viewbotting accusations were one thing, but I think what actually caused the ban was probably all of the CS:GO betting he was doing on stream, and was giving out skins/CS:GO betting points to subs/re-subs. It could be seen as trading CS:GO currency and skins for subscriptions.
Definitely had nothing to do with the csgo betting. Otherwise Phantomlord would have been banned eon's ago when he lost 12k in a night. The skin gift thing could be it but there's a multitude of stupid stuff involving massan sadly. The viewbotting issue; the whole "im selling my twitch to someone else" the " oh no I have to perform mandatory military service halp"; hes just a shady character overall.

Are you playing Control Warrior? Those games take 8 days but it's real hard for Priest to win, just never play your big cards, drop Justicar ASAP, hammer your hero power button and watch them die to fatigue. You can easily remove anything even remotely threatening they put down between weapons + the standard removal suite, and they can't preemptively get their health above 30, so they just die.
But like seriously you don't play Sylvanas or any 7+ drop unless they waste 1 or both of their Entombs, and 3 weeks later you win in Fatigue.
edit: If you're playing Patron then yeah you're on the express train to boned town.

if they made it retroactive I'd get one for continuing to not play WoW which I've done since 2013. idk why I should get something for that and it doesn't strike me as unfair that the entire point, to get people to install and level up in WoW, is also the requirement to get the shiny.
I don't have the other heroes and there's no version of me installing WoW and leveling to 20 that ends well so I'm gonna pass

Control Warrior, the problem with just chilling these days is they have monkey, plus some of them are inner fire trolls so letting a deathlord or velen's live is dangerous. I probably did play too aggressively, but his monkey was also so much better than mine so I was probably boned regardless.

I would like to poll this thread though and see if anyone actually resubs to WoW because of it.

God damnit. We quit WoW when my son was born (almost 2 years ago now). We would 100% resub if we had the time, playing this with my wife was one of our regular "date nights" basically.
But we also had our first date in almost 2 years just last weekend so it doesn't make sense. I guess I can probably convince her to level a char to 20 while I go to the playground or something to get me the Liadrin skin. Did they say how logn the promo lasts? forever?

If you have an account you do get something: An easier time leveling a char to 20 because you have an alt in their teens (and who doesn't have that?) or you have heirlooms or you already know how to play the game/the fastest routes through the starting zones etc etc.

Used to be sorted by mana cost, then by descending type (Weapons -> Spells -> Minions) then Alphabetically.
Now it's mana cost then alphabetically.
Think I liked the old order more.
