Fishing is actually an excellent way to do it because you can carry (and thus turn in) so many items in one go potentially. It's faster to cart stuff around, but then you don't get fishing exp (you can level up mounts though).
One thing I really want to try is crafted trade packs, but I can't find good data on their value, which makes it hard to judge if they are worthwhile.

Ive been crafting ash wood packs in Olivia and moving them to Hidel. Only fetch about 2k each but you can just set it all up to be automated via workers so it's passive income. Haven't tried the higher "tier" packs yet.

Does it end up being worth more than just selling the materials on the market?

I wonder at trading those boxes of dried fish.. I may try it this weekend.. I catch enough low tier fish now to make it feasible, I just don't know if it's worth it. Still doesn't hurt to experiment.
For anyone familiar with end game: what drives the PvP? Can you steal fish/trade packs from other players to turn in yourself? Do you earn PvP points to use for special gear? Is it just for guild bragging rights?
In my experience PvP gets really boring really fast unless there's something of value to fight over. Archeage really nailed this particular element and I've heard a few people say that BDO misses the mark. Is that true?
Well, I mean, BDO isn't a swipe credit card to win game so I'd say that it definitely missed the mark Archeage hit, I agree.
More seriously, guild PvP is based around the seige and war system. You can take over nodes or regions for benefits and guilds can start wars with each other.
I dunno if I'd say it's hugely motivational though. You either PvP for enjoyment or ignore it. The game doesn't really seem to heavily reward people for PvP.
Though again at high levels PK is open if a little wonky so you still gotta be able to hang or guilds defend themselves while doing world bosses or whatever.
Also in sure later with the big boat expansion stuff might see some naval junk.

... doing world bosses or whatever.
Well that's cool, if there are real benefits to owning regions and world bosses with good loot then those are good reasons to pvp. Archeage had/has a lot of problems but it definitely got the PvP motivation right. Compared to a game like TERA where the PvP was largely meaningless and everyone lost interest once they hit the level cap.

I think the PvP incentive is mostly socially driven. For example, you know that 35% that gets skimmed off the top of every marketplace sale you make? The lion's share of that goes to the guild that "owns" that region/city/node. You also get a slice off the sale of goods to NPCs and possibly trade merchants as well. So if you're in a guild that wants to keep it's coffers full, there is incentive to PvP in order to have that gravy train passively rolling full time.
So, question. Someone in guild chat just asked 'who wants to do a guild mission'? What does that exactly mean? I was around when you were doing them last night (trading... something?), but was told you needed to have trading skill up to a certain level to contribute. I'd love to help out and pitch in, but being new and all, I know jack squat and don't know how to contribute.
Tagging on to Kass' question, are you guys doing any combat missions? Any specific times? Guild missions are one of the things I don't really know much about
@Kass that was probably me (Tome). I've been deputized to kick off guild trade missions which are guild missions that require members to pick up goods in one town and drop them off in another. The reward is a bunch of silver for the guild bank (used to pay salaries) and guild points we can use to up the size of the guild or for special guild buffs. The reason these trade missions need a certain amount of trade exp is because some of the items one needs to transport require various level of trade skill just to buy. The "small" mission was accessible to nearly everyone, so that's not a problem, but the "medium" one we tried had two items that only I had the required skill to purchase, which is why we need to wait until people reach that skill before trying again.
I should note that as BradicusMaximus alludes to, there are other missions that have less annoying requirements, such as gathering or combat missions. Gathering missions require a lot of energy use by contributors (unless there are a ton of them) but can be done pretty easily. I don't think we've done a combat mission yet.

Been having a lot of fun with Tamer, flipping and dashing all over the place. Just forgot to modify her voice before starting, unfortunately.
Is there a way to preview how equipment looks? Fashion is important.

Apart from guild Trade Missions you also have Guild Gathering and Guild Killing (Subjugation IIRC).
Guild Gathering is simply collect a crap ton of X, X and Y, or XYZ. You get to keep what you gather so it isn't stupid about it.
Guild Subjugation missions seem to all take place in Calpheon which is a region many of us are not running around in yet so we've refrained from them for now.
We don't get to pick what we have to trade or what we have to gather. So sometimes we might get something that we probably just can't do or would even want to do.

Yeah, gathering can include fishing (which is one of the few parts of the game I haven't even looked at yet), to catch a specific type of fish - that may or may not be available only in a specific region, where we may or may not be.
Collecting ore and/or wood is easy and we typically bang those out in around 1/4 to 1/3 of the allotted time.

Is does not, but it does have the advantage of getting you trade exp and not being dependant on waiting for sale.
Spent a couple hours last night doing long distance trade runs. Getting my trade, fishing and training skills up.
Pretty soon I should be able to help with some of the middle tier stuff for trading and I have a good knowledge collection for fishing so I can do that too.
Some day I'll even remember to try to join the guild when I'm not fishing.
Actually I need to exp grind this weekend, sadly.
I was dumb enough to combine some of my relic shards to clear up storage space and whoops the boss summon scrolls have a timer. Wish it'd have warned me, that'd be a huge waste to let expire.
So uh, hopefully by Monday I should be at least 45 so I can do this scroll.

If you need a guild invite just give a holler in this thread when you're on and hopefully we can hook you up
So, I'm voting me make our 'official' channel something other than Serendia 02. It's been crapping out all the time the past several days and it's getting kind of annoying.

Cause we've been having problems with Serendia channel our new official channel will be Velia O1.

Some random things to look forward too.
The Mediah, Valencia I, Valencia II, and Valencia III updates. Mediah, Valencia I, and Valencia II together add territory that is slightly larger than Balenos, Serendia, and Calpheon put together.
KR currently has up to Valencia II and will be getting III soon enough. The Valencia III update is 90% maritime focused with the majority of the new area being the ocean with islands all over. Boats/ships are a must. Piracy is very real concern.
Mediah will be the first update for us. RU and JP got it about a month and a half after launch. Also worth noting that RU and JP in a little less than a year's time have caught up to the KR version content wise. Daum hasn't said anything on when new content updates will be coming for us, but there isn't much reason to think we won't be on a similar path.
I forget the names, but the next regions being added after Valencia III will be the Dwarven region and then the Elven region. They've concept art and such for em out there somewhere.

I've seen some complaints that the number of different armor sets in the game is pretty limited, and the examples given in the character creator might be all that's available? How true is that?
Also the costume slots in the equipment panel can only be used by specific costume items, and there might be a cash shop item that can turn regular equipment into costumes?
If true, this stranglehold on fashion is disappointing.
Fashion prison is definitely a problem. Luckily I don't care at all, but I know plenty of pretty bummed out people both because of limited in game choices but also the cash shop ones aren't great either.

Hey @MyDcmbr could you update the OP to mention we've moved channels from Serendia O2 to Velia O1? People have been having issues with the Serendia O2 channel and they seemed to have stopped when switching. I'd appreciate if you could add it to the title next to the server name too, if there's room.

Also, I've seen people mention that mobs can start dropping black stone around level 30, but what's the best way to get it?
I also see it can be created with 2 black crystals, but are those hella rare?
