I sent a PM to @JaysonFour when he appeared back in the Steam thread. I told him how nice it was to see him back and to not worry about firing up the gift-a-pult, especially since his presence was a present in and of itself.
Of course, he wouldn't listen to me...
Thank you very much. I've had my eye on this one for a while and I really look forward to checking it out!

Part of me is always bugged by the idea of anime movies of series.
Lets up the animation budget for a two hour runtime of a plot that may or may not tie into broader canon to wrench millions of dollars out of our fans and makes them wish the entire series looked as good as this.
Not saying I wouldn't rush out and see a movie like that if I lived in Japan, just the logic of it bugged me.
Seriously tempted to buy the last movie to see if anyone still alive pulls their head out their ass to conclude all those romances.
1 mission closer to the end of Command and Conquer 3's nod campaign.....and then there's the third campaign.

Meh.
It's not that much different here where they make movies out of TV shows Current or not. Parody or not.

There's basically three types of those movies.
1) The random cash-in, which are usually not canonical. Notable exceptions: One Piece's Film Z and Strong World, both of which had character designs and story done by Oda. There's no place they (well, Z anyway), can fit in canonically in the timeline, but the "events" are effectively canon.
2) Retelling of the series in movie form. Usually crap due to how much is compressed, but they make for some awesome flashy visuals
3) The end of the series/continuation of the series is told via movie (which kinda suuuuuucks, but occasionally can be done right). The latest two dragonball movies are this done right.
Anyway, more to the point is that movie versions of anime series (animated, live action, whatever) usually suck.
Basically, I don't recommend anyone actually BUY the Naruto movies. (Actually, I hear Road to Ninja may be okay, but I never watched it. Whatever).
I was going to join FNG, but I ended up spending all evening doing something I've been meaning to do for yeeeeears: soldering new potentiometers into my guitar so I can actually play again. It's the first time I've ever soldered anything, and there were a lot of wires, but it seems to be working.
That said, I see Rocksmith is on sale. What's the story with the cable? How did most of you get it? Just bite the bullet and spend $40 on Amazon, or is there a better way I'm not thinking of?
What I ended up doing was picking up Rocksmith 1 digitally when it was cheap, and then picking up the physical PC copy of Rocksmith 2014 off Amazon or the Rocksmith site or something. Then you have two games and a cable, which is all you need. The physical PC version is just a box with a Steam code in it, IIRC. You're really paying for the cable.
@Pixelated Pixie I want to point out to you the one thing I found wrong with origin. Even if I add the game to my steam library, it doesn't recognize the 360 controller I have using the steam link. So I can't play NFS 2013 on my couch on my TV with a controller via the link.
I know, small problems, but I did want to point out the one problem I had with it.
As for NFS 2013, isn't it burnout paradise with cops?
I appreciate what they tried to do with Fallout 4's story. It's more interesting than 3's even if the execution is terrible.
It's meant to be much more shades of gray with actual choices of who to side with but theres not a lot of nuance so for example, instead of feeling conflicted about whether you should
help the Brotherhood of Steel, you kind of almost immediately recognize them as horrible techno nazis.
Its kind of like Caesar's Legion in New Vegas. Instead of trying to make a convincing argument of why we must do bad things for a better future, theres so much overwhelming cruelty going on that things start to look more black and white than what felt intended.
I think The Pitt is the closest the series has got to asking that sort of question with some effectiveness.
what i feel about fallout 4 is that its an amazing game. super amazing with so many improvements that i enjoy, but that also badly needs a lot of changes. i find myself compairing it to skyrim more than fallout 3 (i havent played NV yet). the best example i can come up with is there a part in skyrim ill spoiler it just for kicks (but honestly, how could anyone not have played it that plans to)
in the main quest you find out that the greybeards boss is a dragon named parthunax. he was a bad dragon thousands of years ago, but now he isnt, really just trying to pass along knowledge to the greybeads. the blades however dont see it as a grey area and say you have to kill him or no blades for you. myself, and im sure many others were not to happy with that ultimatum because the games is basically telling you if you dont kill this guy you dont get to access any of the blades content of the game. the problem i had with that is sure, i could kill him and it really wouldnt effect anything in the game too much. at that point you really dont need anything more from the greybeards/or you could finish the greybeards stuff and then kill him. however, i didnt want to kill him and as the dragonborn i should have been able to tell the blades, "you know what? tough luck, deal with it and fall in line".
this was eventually fixed with a mod thankfully, but before it was this is the single one complaint i had about playing skyrim in which i felt i had to make a decision i didnt want to make just to play the game. a thing where a whole part of the game gets locked off forever just because i do or dont do one thing.
my feelings about fallout 4 in comparison to that are that this happens in fallout 4 a lot. not once or twice, but a lot. thats what bothers me about it and what ruins the main story and even a few side quests. there are just parts in that game where i get a few choices and i think to myself, all of these choices are terrible and MY character would never pick any of those, but clearly if i dont pick any i might as well just shut off the game because its a roadblock preventing any forward progress of meaning. worse yet, i get a strong feeling that the total lack of reasonable options throughout such a large amount of the game is due to the fact that they know someone will come along and fix it for free. and theyre right, but thats a slippery slope

Clearly feeding my newly discovered underground fetish, @Decoy has seen fit to give me Turmoil, a colorful milkshake drinking oil drilling game! I love games (like Steamworld Dig) where you are burrowing underground for hidden resources and treasures - Thanks very much!
EDIT: A ha, I just got the joke in the game's name. Good job steadily degrading brain!
Do any of you have experience with the library folders feature? I've just got an SSD and after getting Windows set up on it, I installed Steam and added my old HDD install as a library folder. It picked up all the games I had installed, but it also then claims that there are 14 games installed games on the SSD, using 6.88GB. It has not actually moved around any files and the SSD Steamapps folder is still empty.
Also, I've been meaning to say that both my wife and I rejoiced to hear you were ok. We had, in some part of our collective heads, feared "the worst".
I really need to get back to Castle in the Darkness. It's actually a pretty tough game. And there's no in-game map, which means that whenever I do get back to playing it, I'll have no idea where to go anymore. I'll probably have to start over.
That said, I see Rocksmith is on sale. What's the story with the cable? How did most of you get it? Just bite the bullet and spend $40 on Amazon, or is there a better way I'm not thinking of?
Rocksmith 2014 is fantastic and I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to learn to play guitar or who has trouble finding motivation to practice. If you're new to guitar, the worst part of learning is definitely the first 20-40 hours. Rocksmith actually makes that fun. If you want to play well, you do need to look at other resources to learn things like theory, strumming patterns, musical notation, and a bunch of others. That said, it's the way I started and I really couldn't think of a better way to do it.
There are "unofficial" alternatives to spending the $30-$40 on the official cable, but they're not good options. They will most likely lead to audio issues and apparently have a few other problems. The official cable is actually a pretty decent audio interface and is arguably better than a few hundred dollar options. You can feed it into Reaper or other DAW and will get solid performance.
If you do pick up Rocksmith, you'll notice some audio lag. If you have a decent PC, you can drop that to a negligible amount with a few .ini tweaks.
Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.
I've been considering switching over from 360 to PC for this game, since my 360's drive won't open and I don't feel like messing around trying to fix it. I just realised it's been nine months since I've played this due to this, and I need to change that! It will suck losing all the DLC I've bought, but at least I'll get to play it again.
So can I just use the cable that works with 360 to play on PC?
Just played through Satazius this morning. It's a really fun shoot 'em up! If you like shmups but don't like the "bullet hell" trend that's quite popular these days, this one's a great pick. It focuses more on power-ups, scoring and obstacle avoidance, rather than navigating bullet mazes. Plays very similarly to Gradius.
It's on sale right now, as is another game from the same developer Supercharged Robot VULKAISER. That's one a fun homage to 70's giant robot anime like Getter Robo:
@vamen sent me Mr Robot, which is probably one of the oldest entries on my wishlist, rarely going on sale and when it did, getting overlooked for other things.
So gracias, Mr Robot can find a home in my library now after all those years in the cold.

FNG sounded like a lot of fun tonight. Unfortunately, I got the game installed and started sending off friend requests a bit too late while missing the incoming friend requests. Fortunately, that might have saved me some embarrassment since I apparently operate a Porche as if I started drinking after a night of bath salts.

I have not only beaten but completed a game today. Sneaky Sneaky is simple but fun and the visuals are super cute. And a couple of the achievements were (for me anyhow) legitimately hard to get. If you like stealth, puzzles, and things that are cute you could certainly do worse. And it's on sale for 33% off right now. It's down to a whopping $3.34.
