Many thanks to @UseR2006 for Massive Chalice and Chosen! To be honest, I'm always in the mood for some RPGs and, well... I could stand to be better at tactical strategy games (I've had a copy of the original Final Fantasy Tactics for PS1 I still have yet to beat, and that's been around maybe fourteen, fifteen years, I think?)!
Thank you again!

After playing quite a bit of NFS: Most Wanted (2012), I've come to the conclusion that it's complete bullshit.
I remember when NFS games were fun. That seems like a long time ago.
im going to agree with you here for the solo part of the game, im sure multiplayer FNG was loads of fun and i did get it for free which makes me like it better than i should, but
two things are really bothering me to the point im not gonna play solo anymore. first the dlc is all in the game, just sitting there, but when get to a place where you would access it it opens up the origin store with youre game still running in the background. i tried to switch cars once when running from the cops and got busted cause the car was actually dlc. which brings me to two and the worst part, the cops. oh i hate the cops in this game. its not something that would ever be a feature im looking for in a game but i normally dont mind it, but these cops are almost impossible to run from sometimes. sometimes i get away quick, other times its 20min of trying to turbo away in my src only to have them fly past me (makes perfect sense) or making a clean getaway only to have a roadblock show up in front of me out of nowhere even though the game said i got away. blarg.
on the otherhand, elite dangerous horizions was on lunar sale so im really enjoying that on ultra with my new videocard. feel free to join me in killing in the name of the emperor

Mostly, it's just a natural result of EA's vaunted rubberband race physics.

Well, if anything, FNG proved that playing with a group can make it fun, and it certainly makes it worth getting besides it being free.
But yeah, it certainly feels like a slog to get at times.

Today was a lazy Saturday so I got around to doing some PC maintenance. I removed the DVD burner I haven't used in months, replaced a fan that was rattling, reworked my cable management, and spent a lot of time removing all of the built up dust because it was way overdue for cleaning:
After reassembling everything and booting up, I realized that by moving an external switch to a spot behind my drive cage (to reroute cabling) I accidentally turned it off in the process, so half of my LEDs weren't working. Since I'm going to have to open her up again I figure now is a good time to remount my drives in a different orientation and replace the filters on the front intake fans and do some internal clearance measurements for a project idea and take a look online for fan controllers and think about changing where my radiator is mounted and and and...

Trying to decide between two games and I'm hoping to get some help on which one to pick.
The first game is To Be or Not To Be. Saw people posting about this in some past threads and it looked interesting. I'm wondering how varied the endings are from each other and how long it typically takes to get one.
The other game is Templar Battleforce. Looks like a neat SRPG, I'm just wondering if anybody has played it and can give some opinions on it.
So, now after those have installed (and a little while of playing with my niece- who's currently getting the last of the pizza we made for dinner), I came back to quickly check on my latest download and to start another one.
Oh, look. Another green envelope... :

So I just beat Serious Sam 3, and MAN is that game basically a huge 180 to the things I disliked about Serious Sam 2. Everywhere SS2 went goofy, SS3 when SOOPA SERIOUS. Everywhere it got cartoonish, it's now super detailed. It's crazy.
Like, with Serious Sam: The First/Second Encounter, the game was lighthearted but but not crazy. The monsters had some stranger elements (screaming headless suicide bombers, giant bulls) but ultimately felt like they were an conglomeration of invading alien forces. Meanwhile the humor was referential, but not overly so. A lot of it came from the text based sarcasm from your computer unit.
Serious Sam 2 sent everything to goofsville. Enemies like Chinese Kung-Fu dudes, Halloween Witches and Clowns on Unicycles populated the world. The humor was overly referential and way more dependent on slapstick and goofy situational humor in the cutscenes.
Serious Sam 3 does a total 180 on that. The enemies are back to like Serious Sam TFE/TSE, but they're super detailed and more monstrous. The Gnaar's are huge and bulky, the Biomechanoids went from having tiny grimaces faces to their entire body being a huge snarling head. The humor on the other hand, has almost entirely steered away from referential and is basically all down to hollywood blockbuster style one-liners. It's like if we got a Serious Sam game based on on the stylings of Michael Bay.
I think the Harpy enemy best exemplifies this.
In TFE/TSE, they're basically winged women with in Princes Leia style metal bikini's and talons on their feet and hands.
In Serious Sam 2, they're covered in feathers (including a feather "bikini" ), have tails and are wearing a bird head hat? while their wings replace their arms. They're basically cartoonish bird women.
In Serious Sam 3; they're straight up bare breasted with a tiny.. uh mechanical? codpiece. But wait, we can't leave it there, it's not EXTREME enough! Their heads still have human faces, but it's a false face that sits on their forehead and their real face is super ugly and monstrous
Beyond that, the game was alright. Plays more like TFE/TSE than SS2. Levels are HUGELY long though. Upwards forty minutes to over an hour per level (Compared to SS2's 15-40 minutes per level) There's only like 12 levels compared to SS2's 40 though, so it balances out in playtime. The biggest takeaway is how.. Call of Duty a lot of the game felt, especially early on before you got the bigger weapons or were fighting the bigger enemies. Many weapons have aim down sites, you reload and sprint. It's weird, and I think it detracts once you start getting into more traditional Serious Sam situations with huge amounts of dudes.
Speaking of which, man did this game go over the top on the endless stream of badguys. Unlike SS2 where it was just tedious and timeconsuming; here it can actually make things difficult, especially when the new enemies types show up, many of which will FUCK YOU UP and have to be taken out in specific ways. (Killer Helicopters do damage crazy fast and can only be taken out by higher level explosives. Teleporting sorceresses can paralyze you in place and you can only damage them for a bit before they teleport away. Instead of going "How do I dodge all this fire" you're going "How do I dodge all this fire, avoid getting paralyzed or utterly destroyed by the coptor, and take out those high risk targets before I succumb."
Ultimately, it's better than Serious Sam 2, but I still think TFE and TSE are better overall. TSE should be the Serious Sam game all other aspire to.
I may stream Just Cause 3 on Twitch tomorrow. Should be entertaining as I'm a decent console gamer, but I still have to look down at the keys sometimes on PC.

you actually end up being able to play through the story as other characters.
The art is wonderful and complements the text nicely. It's not very long for a playthrough, so if I had any hesitation recommending it over a top-down, turn-based game like Templay Battleforce, it would be if felt like you had to get 10+ hours out of a game. If you don't mind a shorter, discrete experience with a game that delivers on what it sets out to accomplish, To Be or Not To Be is aces.

Yeah, the cops take a mechanic that could be fun and run it into the ground. Super fast, super strong, and they don't even have to stop you to bust you. They basically only have to slow you down for a few seconds. You can be accelerating away and still get busted. There are also way too many as soon as they start chasing you. I'll be at heat level 1 with 4 or 5 of them right on my tail. You can't outrun them, so you have to try to abuse walls and 90 degree turns.
And the races themselves suffer from a similar problem. It's EA rubberband racing at it's worst. If you get in front at all, they suddenly get super acceleration. The races labeled "Easy" were either very close or took a few tries to barely scrape 1st. The "Medium" races were basically "try not to finish last". Didn't try a Hard. And it's not that I suck at racing. I've been playing NFS since the first one. This one just has the difficulty all out of whack.
And I agree about the DLC. It's the usual EA tactic. Fill the game with the stuff you're missing out on and make it "easy" to purchase.
It's a shame. It could be fun. I like the structure of the game and the open-world stuff is done pretty well. The AI pretty much ruins it, though. I'll probably give it a little more time, but the couple of hours I played today were basically filled with frustration. I would be super-pissed if I had paid $60 for this. The original Most Wanted is one of my favorite games in the series. This one is not.

Mostly, it's just a natural result of EA's vaunted rubberband race physics.
Neither of you are wrong. However, I will say that for me the wonkiness of the cop chases is feature, not bug. The cop chases were my favorite part of Most Wanted '05. They aren't as good in most Wanted '12, but after I had one chase go on for 20 minutes, trying to get away from swat van roadblocks and what looked like military humvees by the end, I was kinda hooked.
The whole handling of the dlc is very 'eh. And I really don't like the racing or even the feel of the driving as much as in MW '05. But I got this game back when it was one of the free options due to the Sim City debacle, so I'd say I came out pretty well.
EDIT: And yes, the rubberbanding is way worse in MW '12. On that we agree.

I thought MW(05) was really good. I was pissed they pulled it from XBL because of their apparently needed reboot or something. And then trying to find a reasonably clean disc copy that wasn't being priced at $40+ for a first year 360 game eight years later. Hell, I even have the oXbox Black Edition and hate that I won't have any of that extra content on the 360.
What I really don't like about what has happened with NFS is that they decided to move away from street tuners and whole hog into supercars.

Yeah, I'm leaning towards To Be or Not To Be right now. I don't mind a shorter game so long as the content of the game doesn't feel sparse. I'll likely pick it up tomorrow, but I still would like to hear if anyone has any thoughts on Templar Battleforce just for future reference.

@Orivon, those games seem pretty different. I haven't played Templar Battleforce, so I can't really tell you which I would prefer. I have played To Be or Not To Be, and it is wonderful. The writing is excellent, the stories diverge pretty substantially based on your decisions and
(minor spoiler)
The art is wonderful and complements the text nicely. It's not very long for a playthrough, so if I had any hesitation recommending it over a top-down, turn-based game like Templay Battleforce, it would be if felt like you had to get 10+ hours out of a game. If you don't mind a shorter, discrete experience with a game that delivers on what it sets out to accomplish, To Be or Not To Be is aces.

Getting started with BATTLETECH: Part 1 / Part 2
I...I don't think anyone wants to see that @mere_immortal...
I have been saving this gif for awhile though:
Thanks for the Necrodancer OST! Now I can listen to them forever to keep my dark heart (and....gift pooping butt) going forever!
Steam Support is the worst. Seriously, the worst
That gif is the best thing.
Less than a damn hour. @mere_immortal Thanks! Now i can battle away in space and worship the almighty Space Spiders.
The game kept freezing for me, and yeah, I don't understand how you run from the cops. It was hit and miss for me on that.
