[The Division] is a game that still exists

I REALLY LOVE the idea about a dedicated PvP area, outside of which you can avoid griefers, and encouragement to create those really exciting double cross type situations. I like how it involves DayZ style scavenging and unique loot spawns without the harrowing impenetrable trolling from those kinds of games.
Ubisoft, though... Ubisoft
I've read that it's in a bit of a grey area between Shooter and RPG. You build and personalize your character in really interesting ways, but there's not a huge amount of interactive story to be a good RPG. And the shooting is a little clunky and unintuitive to be a great online squad based shooter. I'm hoping it plays like a perpetual, open world Uncharted or Last of Us.
It also is landing in a very good spot in regards to courting a potential audience with its only major competitor, Destiny, being in the middle of a big content slump

I am interested in this game for sure, but XCOM is going to see me through to the summer. However by then we should have an idea of the legs it's got/content pipeline, so that's fine from where I sit.
I played a bunch of the beta and this is a good game and I'll get it on PC if you want to play with me
How is the story/mission/interesting stuff? Is it just a bunch of radiant quests with people talking in the background or is there real interesting stuff to uncover? are there characters?
I definitely will be waiting a week or two to buy this game, since it's quite plausible that it's one of those games with a strong introduction that ultimately drops the ball in regards to the polish of the late game, but regardless I do have high hopes for this game. The approach this game seems to have for creating tactical puzzles seems really interesting to me, and I'd like to see it succeed in making interesting encounters with that approach.

#pipe you might be interested in this which is essentially a blind start on the beta, with a rough idea of what's going on but that being based on what showed up at e3s of yore.
That E3 presentation they did almost entirely focusing on the Dark Zone pretty much made me write off the game entirely, because that sounds like the worst series of mechanics to experience in the universe. Hearing Jeff talk it up on the Bombcast piqued my interest, though, so i'll keep an eye on what people think once it comes out. I wouldn't mind a multiplayer third person shooter where I can entirely avoid PvP stuff and just focus on co-op if the gameplay is fun.
I was interested in this from the earliest announcements, but the emphasis on loot was disappointing, from both a mechanics and plot-integration standpoint. "We left all our best weapons and gear in the dark zone!" was the dumbest thing I've ever heard in a trailer.

Maaaaaybe I'll get this? Only a maybe right now.
I don't know it seems pretty standard these days to have legendary loot in raids. The darkzone reads to me like a PVP raid.
So I guess the open beta for this starts in a few days. Preloads are going up, including on Steam of all places, which I didn't know before. I'll be giving it a try.
I'm preloaded on PC for this. Despite the unappealing promise of bullet sponges and gun loot, I'm still excited for the art direction and setting. A weekend-long-demo should help me decide if I'm actually going to get this game.
Preloaded on Xbone. I'm excited to give this a try.

I'm DLing on PS4 right now, thought my weekend is looking pretty busy... Even If I can play it for a couple hours and decide if it's something I'm interested in

I'm feeling this will be a great game to play with 2-5 friends. Getting a sort of Gears of War-mixed-with-L4D2 vibe out of the gameplay, in a (not post)apocalyptic setting.

I'm all pre-loaded on PC. I've been sick all week, so hopefully I can play a little before and after work all weekend. That is, if I've gotten enough sleep to kick this dumb cold.

Its kinda strange, everything about this game from what I have seen so far appeals to me except how enemies get damaged and how you get damaged. I wish it was a bit more GRAWish in its damage... I know this would make it next to impossible or incredibly easy, but eh.

It's what sold me after being a bit sceptical of what was going to be in there.
Is it squads of 3 or 4?
And hopefully unlike Destiny I'll actually have time to play with you guys.

Get it for Xbone, then I can say we'll play together but then never be available!
