http://xboxclips.com/Prohass/e7f41ef6-701b-465d-b449-bce99c839423 my arena so far, need to remove the number of bug containers (theyre kind of pointless as they just get slaughtered so fast) and put more raider containers tho and work out a few pathfinidng issues (Yao Guai and Deathclaws hate stairs)
I'm so glad that I could talk down the Mechanist without having to kill her (that was a hell of a shock). Question: Can I built that one robot with the skull face that I see in the loading screen? Because I want to fight with that!

Lately I've been getting weird rainbow textures on various objects at certain distances. Sometimes it would be on item models when you examine inventory. Rocks, walls, shelves, sometimes even NPC faces. Monitoring my CPU and GPU temps and I don't see any overheating issues.

Mechanist final fight spoiler:
If you can find three holotapes and use them at the elevator near the entrance, you can skip the final fight altogether. You'll still get the outfit but you wouldn't get any sweet free robot loot so there's no point in my book.
I've taken to clicking my companion in the console and just doing "moveto player" they get caught up on almost everything in the game. Anyone seen a mod that maybe makes use of that hotkeys mod to do that for me with just a click?

doesn't popping the console remove getting achievements (at least until you save and reload)

Bethesda has never cared about achievements. You can use console commands to give yourself every achievement before you even create your first character.
This is true for every Bethesda Softworks game. Skyrim, Fallout 3, all of them.

I don't see why anyone would really care about steam achievements. Even if it did stop them.

I don't, but having the achievement there unmarked when I've done the damn requirements twice is more infuriating.

Weeping Angels but with the Mannequins! They are already creepy, now image them moving around when you aren't looking at them!
You're a sadistic one...but I love you for it.
Wait, what?

Tried out the wasteland dlc for a bit. Didn't make an arena or use the cages yet, just remaking part of my settlement in the castle.
The new concrete walls seemed ok at first but when I was trying to do indoor walls I couldn't put the the roof parts on because there's not enough space between the walls. Also couldn't use the automatic double doors for inside, because the floor wouldn't snap underneath it. I was able to use it on the roof (floor parts because of the roof problem) though.

Long story short: game is still janky.
Are you on PC? If you pull up the console and select an inside wall, you can use "modpos z -15" to slide the wall down enough to let you place a roof, and then use "modpos z 15" to move it back up again.

At this point I've done too much to the building that changing anything would be a pain.
Apparently with the workshop dlc if you ended the game with anyone but the institute you can also trap gorilla's which generate happiness and defense rating as well as assisting in defense, if you:
Order the evacuation while on the mission to destroy the institute.
edit: They don't need a beta wave emitter either, not sure if that effects how they'll defend and who they'll defend against. But they didn't try to tear my face off when I turned the emitter off.

New Guy questions:
I've made my initial visits to Concord, Tenpines and the Corvega Factory (which had ... a lot of dudes inside!). The folk at Tenpines have come around, but when I tried to tell them to go to Sanctuary (to keep everyone together), I got a message that said they could not leave Tenpines. Which is weird, because they aren't named or anything. Do I need a specific Perk or something (I haven't actually bought any Perks yet)?
Is there a quick way to move power armour between settlements? I limped my first suit back to the Red Rocket, but I think I might move it back to Sanctuary as well - any chance I can do so without using fusion core charges (I'm a hoarder)?

When you get a new settlement, any people there want to stay there. It's their home. You can improve it, or being in more settlers, but the original ones won't leave.
And no, if you want to move your armor, you have to power it up and walk it over. I know it hard as a hoarder, but eventually you will have so many fusion cores that you will regard it about the same as you regard .38 ammo.
Before following any advice, opinions, or thoughts I may have expressed in the above post, be warned: I found Keven Costners "Waterworld" to be a very entertaining film.

Fast travel doesn't use up fusion cores, as I recall.
Started a new character to finally try out a melee run, turrets are a pain. Also trying to go all negative dialog just to hear them for a change even though the outcomes don't all matter that much. Except when visiting Abernathy Farm I went all asshole on Blake and refused to do his quest. Now speaking to him again won't let me take up his offer anymore and the rest of the family seems depressed now, so I'm locked out of peacefully obtaining this settlement it seems. Guess there are some consequences to dialogue after all.
I've been playing my sciency, charismatic character for awhile now, which I started specifically to play Automatron. Finished that DLC and it was alright, but I didn't care much about the Mechanist and the base, so mostly what I took away from it is the ability to build awesome robutts. I kept Ada as a companion for awhile, but even with her generally agreeable nature when it came to my looting habits, I still got tired of her repeating the same lines over and over for everything, much as I have every other companion in Bethesda games. My new robutt budy just clicks and beeps, which is awesome and now I don't mind having a companion! I gave him the happy robutt beeping set, even though he looks like he emerged straight out of a scrapyard and is named 'EVILTRON 5000' (yes in all caps).
Since I'm playing a technology-loving type of character, I've been seriously considering that she'd side with the Institute, mostly because I haven't seen that ending yet. I finally reached it last night, though, and already it's starting to grate me just how cartoon villain that faction is. I mean... I wouldn't even mind absolute villainy in a faction except I can't even tell Shaun how awful he is every time I discover yet another horrible thing they are doing. Occasionally I get to disagree on synths having free will or something, but he just retorts with some canned bit about how he hopes I'll come to see it his way after this next mission, and off I go.
I used the Minutemen to get into the Institute just to keep things neutral, so I dunno... maybe I'll stick with them instead. Or maybe I'll just forget about the story and just wait until the next DLC comes along. There's still lots I haven't seen in the Commonwealth, despite the hundreds of hours I've already put into this game.

These two-person "settlements" are goofy as heck.
Also: as much as I like the idea of Sanctuary, I find building there to be a pain. Seriously thinking about moving to the drive-in. But ... all my stuff's here, you know?

And here's where we get into perks. You'll want to go after the Local Leader perk... half way down on Charisma, I think. One point in that and you can set up supply lines between settlements.
You assign a settler to a supply line between two settlements. They get a pack brahmin and travel back and forth, though that physical action doesn't have any real effect. What this does is link your workshop raw material inventories between those two settlements. If you look in the workshop, you'll only see the local inventory, but when you go to construct something, you'll have the total inventory available. As a note, I specified raw material inventories (includes mods), because anything you build and then send back to inventory, is only local.
Starlight Drive-In is a good, central location for supply lines to feed into as well.

You can obtain any settlement by murdering the residents. If there are child settlers they will run away when their parents are killed.

Companion Command, be sure you also have the FO4 Hotkeys mod installed:
http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/articles/194/?
In the Hotkeys.ini file bind "CompanionCommand.Teleport" to whatever you want.
I even looked in the articles tab of the mod...blind as a bat sometimes. Cheers!

Seems the teleport command doesn't actually work. It's inconveniant but moveto player still does the trick.
I have to admit having a tamed deathclaw defending a settlement is pretty damn cool, a nice touch is it actually supplies some defense rating.
