The occasional dig at Rush Limbaugh and weirdly specific and out of date references to senators and governors (John Sununu buying stamps, etc.)
Indeed, it did. My only question was if it was going to be Netflix or one of the other Netflix-esque streaming platforms. It's a good sign to me that they got the backing of the biggest company in this space.
Also, in a lot of ways, this sort of service makes more sense for MST3K than an actual TV network does these days. They're an organization that can get rights to films but also can let MST3K breathe without having to worry about having to find 2 hours on the schedule grid.
MST3K used to have a pretty big presence on Netflix, but I think Hulu must have made a nice deal with Big Brains when it was trying to build up its library. Hopefully part of this arrangement involved getting streaming rights for old episodes back (especially considering a bunch of episodes are available for free on their official YouTube page anyway).
I haven't seen any details yet, but I'd also think this means back episodes will also eventually be on Netflix. Does Shout Factory seem to prefer a particular service for other shows in their catalog (since, IIRC they acquired the rights from Best Brains)?

They've been steadily releasing episodes through Rifftrax, because they decided Mike, Kevin, and Bill deserved a cut of the profits for that show they helped make.
