hi I was wondering if anyone else has had this before but have a dull ache in my left arm sometimes feel it shoulder or bicep on the inner side it hurts on the inside of my elbow often and get it in my wrist sometimes to it started September and i still have it now, just told it's torn muscle when i went to see a doctor but im active with my arm. I cant felt it as much when i stretch my arm out either another docter told me it was a trapped nerve in my shoulder causing it but can't that really be like it for 5 months now? don't want to waste doctors time keep going back but worrying me now as i dont know what it is?

5 months and it is still going on? I'd go back to your Dr, maybe get a referral to a physiotherapist?

Dude, that's what the doctor is paid for. Don't feel bad about wasting his time asking him to do his job.
If your doctor won't offer any alternative diagnosis or further assistance helping you feel better, it's time to find a different doctor.

Go to the doctor and get a full physical. They will check your heart, they will check your grip and range of motion, and they will determine if you need a specialist.

It could be something as simple as being overweight and having your muscles and nerves pinched with how your fat wits in your armpits/chest... or it could be a serious sign of any number of things from heart disease to a range of muscular and nerve problems. Get a specialist to look, especially given how long it has been persisting.

I say this as someone who went through this before and it turned out to be a pretty nasty tear in one of my shoulder muscles. Better to play this still safe than risk a heart attack or permanent shoulder pain.

Doctors often prefer it if you come in and have them look at things that worry you about your health. This prevents easily treatable little stuff from escalating into omgwtfbbq-sized problems in the future that could have more drastic consequences than just a little soreness.

And to be quite honest, wouldn't it be better to know instead of worrying about it?

Also, ask the doctor what the plan is for how to resolve the issue. Tell them you're not interested in the wait and see approach any more and want to pr proactive.

Doctors are not wizards and they have to do a lot of work to eliminate possible things like a pinched nerve, torn muscle, heart problems and arrive at a diagnosis and a way to treat you.

Don't let the Dr. brush you off with some guess, they are usually over booked and many just want to get to the next patient. This will likely get you a referral to a specialist to do more testing.

You have to advocate for you to get anything done these days.

Yeah we don't have enough info to help figure out much, but definitely find a doctor who will not only give you a diagnosis or a list of possible ones, but will also give you a course of action to correct what's wrong.

Beyond that all I can say is to write down all the information you want to tell the doc, and bring the paper with you. It's very very important to have a conversation where you give all manner of details and the doctor listens and asks questions.

    Give All the Details.
    Ask Questions.
    Listen Carefully.
Get a diagnosis / list of possibles.
    Get a Course of Action.
Do what the Doctor Tells You.
