The freeware version of WarCraft 2 was released awhile ago. I'm here to promote one of the best RTS games ever made. It requires no CD or CD-Key, it's completely free. Just download, install and select server.war2.ru from the server menu.

You can download it here, enjoy.

    You really don't need to promote Warcraft round these parts.

    That said, everytime someone does I reach for my installation disks. Just like whenever someone mentions Deus Ex at least 20 people reinstall.

    If you read the rules of the PA forums discussing freeware doesn't slide round here anyways, because ALL freeware is always a bit iffy.

    Warcraft 1 is, and has been, a free download for some time now. Warcraft 2 following the same route is not surprising at all.

    I'm pretty sure free, legal downloads are more than acceptable. That being said, I see no mention of War2 being available for free on Blizzard's site.

    Well it is legal, whatever.

    We've already spoken with them.

    Even if it wasn't (which it is) they wouldn't care about a 10 year old game anyway.

    Just looking for more people, classic RTS.

    We need more than hearsay on this. You just saying "Hey, it's legal." isn't going to prevent the thread from being locked. Not trying to be an ass, but the site owners take piracy issues very seriously.

    Google's not bringing up anything up to agree with him, and I'm pretty sure more than one website would be bringing this up if it were true.
