Can this game be interestingly played offline in single player? Got a long flight coming up and might just grab it for that to play through tutorials and get the hang of it if it works for that.
Sure, play the single player and unlock stuff. Beating it gets the outfit available for multiplayer, and you can unlock the single player weapons too.
Glowfly rounds are fun. If you have a good special for them like splashdown, you can dump your entire ink tank, use splashdown to kill a ton of them, and then unload an entire 2nd round of ammo. It's very effective.
I'd rather deal with a thousand glowfly rounds than a single round with 2 flyfishers and a steel eel.

Note that you may have to turn off motion controls. Your character will turn unexpectedly when the plane banks.

I don't mind Steel Eels. They tie up a fair amount of space and manpower but two people who are paying attention can kill them very fast. Or just one if you can exploit terrain.
It's the Flyfish + Steelhead combo that always gets me. Steelheads are damn near immune to a bunch of weapon types and Flyfish are huge resource sinks even if you don't make any mistakes. If the two spawn together in a remote corner it's been a guaranteed wipe for my teams (due in no small part to the fact that nobody online understands when to cut and run).

On that note, you know how Splatoon 1 had Amiibo-only versions of some of the levels where you get to use an alternate weapon?
Splatoon 2 gives you something like 7-8 different weapons in singleplayer, and lets you take any of them into any level (and tracks what weapons you've beaten each level with). And they're built into the base game, no Amiibos required.

Though note that they're each unlocked the first time you play a specific level, and most of the game's levels (besides the Octoling maps) have a "Sheldon Request" weapon that you have to use the first time through. So it's more like "play through the game with the recommended weapons, and then you can use anything else you've unlocked the second time through".
Still an improvement over Splatoon 1, though.
My favorite musical instrument is the air-raid siren.
The splatnet app tracks your disconnects and I think Nintendo temp-bans for too many. They def send you a warning at 3.
Really frustrated to see Salmon Run being inaccessible to people who have like....jobs. Wanted nothing more than to collect eggs but by the time I got finished with work it was closed and now I gotta wait 2 days. That is all kinds of bunk.
Huh, I wonder if something happened to the shipment or something. Just got a update on the Hori head-set from Amazon with a new estimate for delivery: August 23'rd-September 20'th.

I'm superfresh with both the slosher and tri-slosher. I like how the tri slosher kit lets me be more aggressive and I'm averaging about 15 splats a game now
The gattling gun is the most worthless thing in the world....
partial charges are your friend here you only need a half charge to splat one or two people. Also you kinda want to stay in mid to long ranges with it since it's best at supporting the people initiating your forward pushes
If you push the stick in a direction and tap Y (camera reset) you'll spin instantly to that new position. I've never really bothered with it but I can see how it would be a big deal for the splatling weapons.

Sneaking up behind someone camping the lips the tower goes past on Humpback Pump Track with the ball and exploding it right as they realize is... real funny.

Oh ok. Might as well use it then.
Also apparently those tickets respawn so you can always go back into single player to get another one.
Although I have seen an enemy team spawn in with only 2 players. That was a bit unfair.
Do we know what the DC penalties are?

As I understand it is just a skin of the weapon.

Using Y to quick turn can be really useful in general.
