I started playing Hyrule Warriors (again) for the Wii U
When I tried it at launch I couldn't get too into it, but DQ Heroes on PS4 broke down a lot of barriers on me enjoying musou games (if I enjoy their licenses, no samurai dynasty whatever thanks)
I'm digging it!
Now, if I understand correctly, Linkle is coming as part of a DLC pack this summer? Because I have no intentions on buying Hyrule Warriors Legends
Yeah, all the Legends characters will be coming in DLC.
Their additional adventure maps and story chapters aren't, but it's not like the Wii U version is lacking in playable content or anything.
Speaking of legends, who the hell worked on Midna's sound design for that version? All they needed to do was use the same sound effects the Wii U version bad. Who decided that Midna's impact noises (all of them) should be whip-crack sounds, and that there needed to be a weird slurping noise whenever her hair extended?
And that's Legends mode finished! I really like that you were forced to switch characters in the final mission to proceed. I hope some of the Adventure mode missions are like that too.
Also, turns out that Tetra is pretty good. Her final two combos are pretty good for clearing out crowds and her strong attack could potentially be amazing against bosses, provided you can get it to work (seems like it only affects them when they're not doing a combo).
Did the respawn rate in keeps always go crazy once the Keep Boss appears? I don't remember it being like that in the Wii U version, but here it's very noticeable, and an excellent way to rack up a ton of kills.

Yeah I notice that the keep boss spawn in with a whole bunch of grunts, but I don't like how the keep boss now comes in with a slight delay after depleting the meter.
Also it seems like the big grunts with life bars actually effect the battles more. Two or three of them will take a keep in a timely manner if left alone, much like raid captains. Generic Hylian captains seem to get outmatched if they are ganged up by big grunts as well, making them feel even more useless.

Funny, it's the reverse for me. Picked up Hyrule Warriors Legends at launch, have an N3DS but no WiiU. Enjoying it a good deal, once it 'clicked' with me, and now I'm starting to get into DQ Heroes on PS4, which hadn't really grabbed me before, though I'd had it for months.

Aw, that middle design for Linkle is way cooler. Tho I am glad she ended up with crossbows rather than a sword and shield. Makes her less of a Link with a pink bow on her head. ;P
Did they change up what's behind the weapon skill unlocks? I had Sturdy Feet unlocked from a 1,000 KO slot.
What do you mean? They added a bunch of new ones in one of the later Wii U patches so I assume those are just available out of the gate this time (that was probably one of them)
Side note, one thing I am finding I dislike over the Wii U version is the bottom map. Now the Wii U one was always garbage, and by all accounts this one should be better. But there's one thing I am finding I really miss - it only shows you the characters you can directly switch to. So, say there is that mission where Ruto is captured and locked in a room with elite dudes. I have no way to easily view her HP on the fly without pausing the game entirely and navigating through a couple menus to bring up everyone's HP. This makes it hard to gauge how much time you have to do things like capture keeps or get skulltulas or whatever before your mission-critical "game over if they die" character is defeated.
Minor nitpick but it's something I wish was available at a glance along with keep HP (particularly allied base). As with the Wii U version they will start screaming bloody murder if they so much as get a paper cut so those cues are useless (except for the distinct "oh shit I am really going to die" one which may be too late)
Going by this weapon guide, the better weapon skills are locked behind higher KO unlocks. Like the 1,000 KO slots have the kinda useless item bonuses like Bombs+. Something like Sturdy Feet is locked behind a 3,000 KO unlock on Wii U.
Seems like the 3DS version changed the weapon skill unlock tiers.

Ah yes, they definitely fiddled with that stuff. I noticed in particular the Master Sword now has TWO kill unlocks instead of just one. Perhaps a little something to make the weapon more usable before you can get the massive number of kills needed for the 10,000 kill unlock (which as I recall was a big damage boost).
Honestly, it's a shame this version is stuck on 3ds because most of the changes it makes are extremely good ones. One thing I like already - at least Ruto and Agitha unlocks are moved waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay closer to start of Adventure Mode now, along with Toon Link who is like two screens in. Not to mention in Legend mode you even get a taste of these characters now since you can switch to them in some missions even if they don't unlock there.
Also, they renamed some stuff. Instead of skills like "Strength II", you have "Strong Attack + II", which more clearly fits with "Strong Attack +"
I feel like in general they made these things much more clear what they do. I think in the Wii U version you had to navigate a clunky interface to read the descriptions, but here they pop up right away when you are fusing weapons. I know for the longest time I thought, say, Fire+ was more fire damage, not "larger explosions"
I can see why people think it's dumb but I think the name Linkle is kind of cute when said out loud. Linkette would have been worse, so Linkle isn't exactly the height of laziness.
Linkle has a distinctive ring to it, and it's better than just "fem-Link" or whatever the fanbase would call her if they just gave her the name Link. or something else that sounds the same.
This way the character has her own identity instead of just being the female Link. And that works fine.
I really don't want to play this on a handheld, but all these changes sound awesome.
If they ever do a Definitive version for the NX or something, I'm am totally buying it.
I don't remember that shit, anyway. "Dig here" and "these butterflies are the butterflies, I guess" are easy enough. Some dead ends just look bombable. I have no idea what damn shrubbery I'm supposed to torch, though.
All these features are nice, and all, but give me Oracles, though.
Oracle games were made by Capcom. You aren't likely to see much of anything from them. Not that Nintendo disavows them or anything, but it's like, the same reason Namco deliberately ignores the existence of Ms. Pacman. They aren't their games. Also they are quite old and probably not as well renowned as other classic titles like Link's Awakening. If you were to see anything Flagship did I'd count more on Minish Cap than Oracles.

Not the game itself but the character. She never shows up in any future Pacman iterations.
Are there any indications of when the character pack will come to WiiU?
I'm seriously considering buying a game for a system I don't own.
Damnit Nintendo, next they'll be announcing an Impa amiibo or something equally tempting.
Which pack? You can technically preorder all of the 3DS DLC characters for Wii U right now (maybe only as a combo with the 3DS DLC? Not sure). If you mean the Wind Waker characters and Linkle, no clue, but I suspect eventually they will release them without needing the 3DS game.

Just beat Arbiter's Grounds in TP.
Really bummed me out seeing sad Midna. :<
Oho, there's Ganondorf. Right on cue. Is Twilight Princess the origin of Ganondorf with a sword? Stealing a sage's goddess powered light blade that was just rammed through your chest in an attempted execution is pretty fucking metal.
Wasn't crazy about the Stallord boss fight. Took me way too long to think to ram it with the Spinner, cause that felt a little counter intuitive. Every other time you hit something with the Spinner, you fall off. :I
Also I love that Stalfos in this game are just annihilated by bomb arrows. I'm used to that being step one, ala Wind Waker, so having them just vanish in a poof of smoke is pretty fun. ;P

That's somehow tackier than Linkette.

WELP. Time to go grab 3 doohickeys.
Instead of Toon Link, Tetra
I was going to say that I only count four, but that's definitely a comma error.
Toon Link Tetra - coming soon to Smash Bros 5!
