Just want to say that I'm not anticipating the Switch so much as Breath of the Wild. Totally getting a Switch, but the system itself is by and large secondary, and I don't even really associate the game with it.
Am I alone in this?
They've both been so hilariously sold out that the physical version of the game doesn't even show up on Amazon's searches by default. I'm super thankful I have the pre-order for Zelda in even if I don't have one in for the Switch yet.
If it were just a matter of Nintendo not sending enough units, the listing wouldn't have disappeared entirely. Amazon typically has stuff go out of stock for ages without it just disappearing.
The Switch version is still listed, Amazon is just listing the Wii U version by default. You can find all of the Switch versions on the Wii U product page via drop-down.
Nintendogs absolutely deserved a 10 score. It took the concept of virtual pets and made it the perfect portable doggy game. Hell, my gf at the time hated gaming, but I'll be damned if she wasn't on Nintendogs everyday to take care of her doggo.
Of course, ratings and scores are all opinions though so I take them with a grain of salt.

I remember the good old days of the PSP vs. DS console wars when Gamespot gave Nintendogs a 9/10 ...
and then gave the other versions of Nintendogs 9/10s and listed them each separately.
The portables forum just about went supernova trying to reconcile it all because according to the nonsense metric of "which console has more top-tier games" DS was now "winning"
In hindsight I think it was actually a very instructive moment for me to realize that you know
Wow, maybe I should just evaluate games on their merits to me individually and not invest more credence in review sites or console wars forums than it takes to help form that opinion
I still get sucked into it some because hell, we all do, but Nintendogs may have been the turning point just because of the absurdity of it all.
Note for people pointing out frame drops on the Switch version:
The are only in a few places/situations and relatively minor (according to people reviewing the game). The kind of thing that only happened occasionally.
However, according to EDGE magazine (which played both versions) the Wii U version drops often, and during rain or bad weather the framerate can drop into the teens.
So don't assume somehow you'll magically get a superior experience if you skip the Switch version because you read it had some framerate issues.
I'd be curious to see what the actual frame rate is at different points. People have posted video with a few scenes/areas where they saw drops (which I've watched), but no one has done a frame rate analysis.
I imagine the FPS are all over the place. It usually happens in specific angles, when a lot of grass shenanigans are going on. But as I've pointed out, I don't think the game sets new standards from a technical perspective. It really doesn't have to.

Note: This isn't scientifically done, but looking at a video from youtube and counting frames it looks like it runs at 30 frames per second and then drops to 24ish (sometimes 20 actually) when it's either loading something new or entirely in certain locations.
But in handheld mode (which drops the resolution to 720p) there didn't seem to be any frame drops.

Yeah, I'm not really sure it matters so much as long as the game doesn't become unplayable and is fun. Hey, we all played Ocarina of Time.
I've played all day today and yesterday, found dozens of things around the world. And here's what boggles my mind: I have unearthed the entirety of 300 rupies in all this time...
Rupies are RARE. You find rupies somewhere in a box, you go HELL YEAH!
Of course now I don't dare to spend any, so fuck those cozy beds. I'll take my health for free, from the game over screen!

That's.... actually good to hear. The worst thing in previous Zelda's was opening a hard earned treasure chest only to find some more goddamn rupees.
I don't mind the framerate drops as long as it is only an aesthetic issue and doesn't rise to the level of gameplay issue.

Can't you sell like the topaz and other ores you find in rocks? Or do they serve another purpose? The item description just says that they're worth varying amounts of rupees

I mean I know there's items that are used for crafting and other that is vendor junk and the item description explicitly labels them as so (like a rock that you can use to craft something I assume is elemental says that it has firey energy while something you can sell just says that it can be sold for quite a bit of rupees and such)
EDIT: This is from trailers and previews and stuff, I haven't played the game yet so I guess people who have, have a better understanding of what can be safely sold and what can't

Regarding the Art & Artifacts book:
It makes sense in retrospect, but finding out that ALL the Zelda games up to Ocarina of Time had outsourced art assets made for manuals and such.. that explains a ton.
As does learning the illustrations are done after the game preliminaries are done. I guess that makes sense with Nintendo's approach to game making.

Austin Walker mentioned on Waypoint Radio that you can sell sapphires and whatnot that you get from ore veins, so I'd imagine those are just there to earn cash.

Anyone happen to know if the Wii U version of this game is having the same supply shortage issue?
That one Adventure Mode fight where you play as Agitha versus The Chosen Ones is having those Dinolfos kick my ass like immediately out of the gate, and my Agitha's level 23, but then i look at guides online and see folks running around in the 50s, the 70s, the 90s...
Damn, Link is my top and he's only 39.

Are you spending money on boosting characters? I tend to find selling weapons then boosting characters helps keep things more well rounded, but.. yeaaah. There's a lot of grinding.
What is it.. Light, light, heavy .. that summons the large green beetle? That has a ton of invincibility frames and I think can chain directly into a butterfly ride. That, or the end of the chain combo where she summons the butterfly and beetle to divebomb enemies...

Definitely need the grinding on top of that, though. She's losing like 2 hearts to a basic hit from these Dinolfos.
Haven't touched the Dojo yet. I didn't know you could actually grind characters there until a few days ago when the game told me in one of the loading screens. But i haven't really felt the need to level until now, but now they're throwing three-boss timed matches and whatever this insanity with Agitha is. Guess it's time.
Anyone happen to know if the Wii U version of this game is having the same supply shortage issue?
All I know is I got an e-mail this afternoon from Amazon saying my Wii U pre-order which was due March 3rd is now "we'll e-mail you when it becomes available".

Well... maybe it's for the best. I'm excited for the game but I haven't let myself fall into "must own as soon as possible." With luck that will let enough time to pass to learn about the Switch in excruciating detail / existing issues to be resolved. Then I'll get it on that instead!
Just want to say that I'm not anticipating the Switch so much as Breath of the Wild. Totally getting a Switch, but the system itself is by and large secondary, and I don't even really associate the game with it.
Am I alone in this?
No. Other than Mario and a return of an actual story and character driven Xenoblade, nothing on the horizon looks particularly spectacular to me. I was actually going to hold off on the SWITCH, but stock issues are probably going to be a pain in the ass.
Also, does Amazon not apply Prime to NINTENDO products? Full priced game from them making me look at Best Buy as an option.
I got my copy of BotW for 48 dollars from Amazon, so they def apply the prime discount.
Just looked at the invoice and it looks like it applied; I was just looking at the actual product page which I guess is wonky since the title is out of stock.

We saw the item descriptions of rubies and sapphires all the way back at E3 and they say that have the power of fire and ice, respectively. They can most certainly be used to craft arrows and/or rods.
Although I haven't actually heard anything about how crafting works.

My Best Buy pre-order of BOTW Wii U has its status updated to preparing and my card has the charge pending again. Heads up to anyone ordering Zelda or any Switch related stuff from them.
So after two days of work I managed to reach the first dungeon today. I just want to say one thing, Nintendo has done us all a huge favor by avoiding the topic all this time. The dungeons are anything but business as usual and I would highly recommend you avoid any information about them at all, because it's bound to show up soon...
