Just want to say that I'm not anticipating the Switch so much as Breath of the Wild. Totally getting a Switch, but the system itself is by and large secondary, and I don't even really associate the game with it.
Am I alone in this?
No. Other than Mario and a return of an actual story and character driven Xenoblade, nothing on the horizon looks particularly spectacular to me. I was actually going to hold off on the SWITCH, but stock issues are probably going to be a pain in the ass.
Also, does Amazon not apply Prime to NINTENDO products? Full priced game from them making me look at Best Buy as an option.
I don't think it's even so much that... not entirely. Once, the new hardware was as much a part of the excitement to me as the new games I could play on it. The features, the UI, even the shape of the casing.
Not really the case here. I like it, don't get me wrong, but that extra spark just isn't there.
Definitely looking forward to some of the games like Mario, but as far as Zelda goes, I don't even see it as a "Switch game." There's no association there for me.
I mean, you think Zelda and Zelda II, I think "NES game"; LttP, "Super NES game"; Ocarina and N64, and so on.
Breath of the Wild is a game I spent the Wii U generation waiting for, to the point that they decided to make it for their next platform instead: the mysterious NX, and whatever that entailed. And we waited so long for ANY info on that, the length of time we've known anything about the NX/Switch is insignificant compared to the time we've spent waiting on BotW.
And now I don't associate it with anything. It's not a "Wii U game" or a "Switch game" in the way I think of the rest; it's both, but it feels like neither. Just a Zelda game.
...possibly the greatest Zelda game I've ever played and a new favorite, sure, but I don't know if any of those feelings will translate into "I love the Switch" the way past ones have.
Like Mega Man Legends? Then check out my story, Legends of the Halcyon Era - An Adventure in the World of Mega Man Legends on TMMN and AO3!

Early footage clearly shows it was a Wii U title once, with gamepad functionality. But since all of that was scrapped and I can tell you from my first hand experience that absolutely nothing in this game is tailored towards the switch, I think that's a good way to look at it. If it used the rumble at some point i didn't even notice. Might as well play this with an XBOX controller, honestly.

It's pretty clear the gamepad was meant to double as the shiekah slate.
I... haven't unlocked the Amiibo functionality yet... However it's done, I missed it. Though it's been confirmed in videos that it works once a day.
Also I can confirm that materials that say "sells for a lot" are needed for craftig rare stuff, so nothing is safe to sell from my point of yiew.

Is anyone else hoping the musical score for the game is as excellent as what was used in the last trailer? I looked up who is doing the score and apparently this is their first video game gig.
Hmm... should I pre-order from Best Buy and have it delivered to my house Friday? I'm not going to attend any midnight release since I have work that day, and I'm wondering if perhaps I'll have trouble finding a Wii U copy in local stores.
And oops. Looks like my BotW copy has been cancelled as well. Good lord Amazon. Gamestop will have copies so I'll just go with that. Silly.
Hmm, what's going on over there? A week ago, I noticed that my pre-order from the day the page went up that said it was shipping March 30th while going to the store page said I could get Release Day shipping. I cancelled my old order and put in a new one that, at least as far as I can tell, still says it's arriving Friday.
No clue. At this point I expect the actual console pre-order to fall off as well. I didn't get a pre-order when they first went up, but it's not like it was weeks after either. If this is another Wii situation then it's clear Nintendo hasn't learned from much.
Oh mine was for the Wii U version so maybe that matters. I dunno!
It's kind of silly that I even feel the need to ask, but there will be a digital version of the Wii U game right? Worst case scenario I'll just get that if my order doesn't go through.
There's digital versions and if push comes to shove (and I'm Horizoned out) I'll get that, but Nintendo products are pretty evergreen titles, and being able to trade Zelda in six months later for something like 75% of purchase price is nothing to sneeze at.

I think from what I can gather, Amazon lost or had a shipment stolen or maybe even was shorted by Nintendo, the only two items effected so far are the Zelda Master edition and Wii U Zelda. My preorders for the Switch and Special Edition are still slated to ship Wednesday.

Now I'm just curious where one gathers this kind of information.

Reddit posts about people talking to Amazon customer service. Could be bull, obviously, on many levels but it fits the scenario.

I'm generally avoiding this thread, but I wanted to poke my head in to say that Target is doing 20% off all books, which includes Arts & Artifacts (should be about $22.39). I know we generally all prefer Amazon, but this price is more competitive, and you get to check out the condition before you pay for it (assuming you don't mind driving to the store).

Yeah, really glad I went with Best Buy instead of Amazon this time around since Amazon is cancelling orders. Just hoping that Best Buy doesn't pull the same crap since I ordered for pick up instead of delivery.

I should have done that. I unfortunately had my Best Buy membership lapsed, and didn't want to waste time reactivating it. As is I'll just leave work as soon as I see it delivered by Amazon.
And can I fucking say "Thank you NINTENDO" for letting us all (non-industry types) experience discovering this game at the same time?
Ugh. I may end up picking up BotW WiiU when I pick up the switch on Friday. Upset with Amazon since I'll lose the discount. They really should communicate more since until a few days ago I thought I had everything all worked out.

The Prime discount is valid for up to two weeks after release, so you should be okay unless Nintendo drags ass on supply. Or did they flat cancel your existing order?

It's in limbo, no estimated delivery at all. I just don't want to wait an indeterminate time. But the alternative is pay full price at best buy.

I'd message them. Amazon's customer service bends over backwards for customers.
But also note that Amazon is very fond of waiting until 11th hour and then sending it as overnight delivery in many cases. You may not see a shipping notification until literally the day before you're due to receive it.
The goal is to try to get every adventure mode square (at least on the Hyrule map) open before Friday. I kind of doubt i can do it because some of the ones left are insane (like one which demands that i get an A in that mission i mentioned before). I managed to get around having to do the one with Agitha by doing an equally insane one with Zelda, who is a much higher level. Meanwhile they're demanding that Ganondorf kill Ganon and two other major bosses in ten minutes, and another one demands Demise, Gohma, and King Dodongo in the same amount of time.
So I wanted to post an important piece of advice, one that I wish I had gotten when starting this game. I'll put it into spoiler-tags, just in case.
So with the information that I have so far I'm slowly coming to one conclusion: This game was designed in a way, where you are free to pick your dungeons in any order you like. I naturally just went for the closest, which happens to be the same a reviewer friend picked, so I concluded that was the way of things. But it was really super difficult. I'm talking boss takes all your health with one hit-difficult. So my conclusion is this: All of these missions have the exact same difficulty. Early ones you got all these buffs to make up for it (you know, yellow hearts and the likes). But the thing is: I think it does not matter which one you pick first. So that's why I'm posting this, because I think any player should know they have a ganuine option of making their adventure something very different from everyone else.

I'm listening to Zelda musix too, just for fun because it's quiet at work.
Skyward Sword was a really quick flash of a game for me, I devoured it too ravenously and never returned...I forget how good the music was, how nostalgic it felt even at release. I gotta go back someday.
Talked to Amazon rep today, and they said that even though my order is displaying "We need a little more time to provide you with a good estimate. We'll notify you via e-mail as soon as we have an estimated delivery date." it is showing on their back-end system that it will ship on time and arrive Mar 3. So no worries!
Yay!

There's some doom and gloom going on elsewhere about it that had me a bit worried.
I might have to give Gamestop money because I can't preorder from Amazon. This will be the first time in...four years?

One good thing is the Amazon is doing release day for the guide as well. Some times those get shipped normally and show up a few days later which is minorly inconvenient.

They spawn items you can already find in the game, so unless you MUST have a bow or something immediately I wouldn't sweat it.
