Had a pretty solid haul this weekend. Picked up Purifier Robes from Xur, had Thunderlord, Super Good Advice, Invective and The Impossible Machines drop. Also got my Tlaloc finally as well. That thing... man. I'm still trying to get my hands on a MIDA but this thing has been invaluable in both PvE and especially PvP, since I'm a Sunsinger main.
I'm going to get a couple more hours in later tonight and see if I can keep this streak alive.
@Booker, @Local H Jay and myself were Lighthouse or bust this afternoon. A close defeat one round from victory wouldn't stop us. Early losses in later cards didn't dissuade us. Not even Xbox Live taking a dump on itself (again) could keeps us from our goal. One Skype call later we were back in action for one last, ultimately successful run. 5-0 against a triple Bastet team was a great way to cap off the lengthy afternoon.
I can't claim that every subsequent Lighthouse run is better than the last, but having played my heart out over the last month, it's damned good to be back. Kitty-cat emblem get!

Great CoE run with @Nosf and @GoldenHawk tonight, despite Xbox Live party chat not working for much of it. I walked away with a Dreg's Promise (yay!), a Queenbreaker's Bow (higher than the one I had), a Her Champion (with a meh roll, but good for infusion), and most interestingly, a Hand of Judgment with Braced Frame/Injection Mold, Snapshot, and Hidden Hand/Outlaw.
A pretty decent haul overall, and I'm curious to see how that last one works out!
Yeah, that was a solid, if quiet run. Walked away with a 334 Invective, 332 Lord of Wolves, 334 MG, as well as a 334 and 331 ghost and a 335 chest. I think of all the grenade chucking classes I liked Hunter the least; trip mines are dangerous as hell and hunters don't seem to have any way to speed up grenade charge like Titans and Warlocks.
Knives are the light for that challenge on Hunters. Critical kills with a knife is just as many points as bonus grenades. Add a Monte Carlo for flavor and rack up the points.
Boolean Gemini comes up somewhat favourably on that list, which seems pretty odd. Got around to doing the moon resource collection and it was probably the least...worst? I'd have preferred by far having to kill strike bosses for any reason, or other kills of any sort.
Boolean Gemini is one of my favorite primary exotics. It's just a really good scout rifle and the precision kill bonus is nice.
The problem is it is an exotic. If it was a legendary, and I could still equip another exotic it would be fantastic. It just doesn't do enough to make itself special to justify using it often.
Also hi guys, I was at PAX and missed Xur and I still need a Monte Carlo aggggghhhhhhhh

Yeah, I am pretty certain that no matter the challenge knives are going to be the most solid strategy. They are worth as much as bonus grenades and will benefit from precision and melee bonuses.
The only thing that might change it is if super kills are worth something like 800 points each, but even then you aren't going to be supering a lot.

I've been toying with an idea for a PvE Sunsinger build. I tend to die a lot (especially on Raids, sorry :? ), but I seem like less of a screw-up if I can resurrect myself, so Fireborn is my usual go-to. I just keep the Super in reserve, then max out Discipline and Strength for a strong neutral game.
But now that three-person content has become more relevant with PoE, Nightfalls, and Heroics all dropping end-game gear, I thought it would be fun to try a different approach. Death is less costly in these modes than in HM King's Fall, so I can ditch Fireborn and try out using Radiance more often. And apparently Heart of the Praxic Fire extends its extra cooldown to all allies affected by Song of Flame, which gives Sunsingers huge potential as a support class.
The idea for this build is to use Radiance as often as possible, buffing allies and creating Orb chains for even more supers:
Max Int/Dis
Heart of the Praxic Fire
Song of Flame
Flame Shield
Radiant Will
Gift of the Sun
I went with Flame Shield just to stay alive longer, although I could also see a strong case for Brimstone + Sunburst creating tons of Orbs-- you'd just have to live without the increased Super duration from Radiant Will. (B+S might become the combo of choice when Variks gives bonuses for melee kills, though.) Gift of the Sun simply seemed like a better option than the other two in that column (I think Touch of Flame is better for PvP, and I never use Angel of Light).
For weapons, you could double-down on support by using Lord of Wolves for the Recovery boost, or go with Bad Juju for more supers.
What do you think, could this be a fun "support class" for 3-person PvE? The downside is that Song of Flame only works within a specific (but frustratingly invisible) radius.

Yeah, without permadeath song of flame is incredible. We tried that out the other night and I was throwing thermite grenades like I was a voidwalker throwing scatter grenades. Recommend!
I have An Answering Chord with Perfect Balance, Rifles Barrel and Glass-Half full. It's not quite as good at range as Dotrine, but chews people up close range especially if I get to the second half of that magazine.
Yes, here is update which talks about all the changes, such as there now being a chance to get IB rewards at all ranks now (before you had to hit rank 2 to see anything), the rank 3 relic being 320, the rank 5 ghost being 320, a fix in terms of drop rates (not a surprise), etc..
Clash is the game-type (booooo), with the auto rifle (I seem to remember the perks being excellent last time around, although I don't know if still stands in the shade of a good Doctrine), rocket launcher, boots and gloves being available from the vendor. There is also the playstation armour.

I am hoping for a Weyloran's March from this IB, so hopefully one of the three comes through for me (I actually got two with really good rolls in the first one I participated in but ended up feeding them to my spindle and 1kys which I sort of regret now, in hindsight).

Speaking of snipers though, is glass promontory any good?

Currently my favorite sniper, hands down. Mine had near max stability and a really high RoF, so I can double bodyshot pretty reliablely.

Your support build in CoE worked the other night, and by support build I mean when you kept having to run over and res me after I tripmined something and it would run and hug me with my own grenade attached.
It's delayed to make the Insta-rank 5 and similar glitches less feasible, I believe.
It doesn't have to be. If you use a rep checker all your guys should already be at rank 0 now.
It seems somebody at Bungie finally figured out they have like 3 weeks between banners to do Rep resets.
Edit: Wait, no, that's just because I didn't do any banner on my guys. Sorry, Bungie still haven't figured out they have like 3 weeks between banners to do Rep resets.
Defender melee absent NBP is sorta annoying to trigger in PvE when it's useful. If you have time to weaken an enemy to where a punch will kill you're sorta just getting the overshield for funsies. Doing it often isn't really a big thing you want to be doing.
Strength is useful if you're frequently trying to create orbs with gift of light, or running No Backup Plans. Otherwise stick with int/disc. I find at tier zero force barrier is up as often as I usually need it.
It's a pretty simple question to ask yourself: Do you like shooting things at range, with little to no satisfaction? Or do you like seeing the terror in your opponent's eyes as you slam your armor plated fist into their skull until their light is extinguished?

I do have NBP equipped right now which is handy. Just wasn't sure if I should be dis/str in PVP and Int/Disc in PVE if that makes any sense?

I use Defender mainly in objective gametypes, so I usually want my Int as high as possible for poppin' bubbs on Control points, etc. Then I go for Disc because Defender grenades are pretty great. Suppressors will shut down a Super, and Magnetic grenades are just good fun.
But, you know, YMMV. I'm most comfortable at mid/long range, so I just don't use my melee all that much in PvP. I also have some sort of mental block that prevents me from judging shotgun range properly, so I don't make use of NBP as much as I should. But if you're more of a close-range person, and find yourself punching and/or shotgunning more often, then Strength is a better option. Depends how you play.
My titan has more melee kills than any other type.
....I just looked at my stats, and my Titan also has waaaaaay more PvP melee kills. I guess I melee more than I thought? I wonder how many of those are Striker shoulder charges, though.

Yes, but we were talking about Defenders, not Strikers.
If I want to hear the wailing and gnashing of teeth from my enemies with a bass line of breaking bones I shall do so from the right end of a tiger knee. Defenders are more about standing in your disco bubble and taunting your enemies.
I was referring to all titans. It's not a bubble, it's a boxing ring.
Here's a chance to post this again. I'm going to try to run with NBP and immobius this IB and pop the bubble in well traffic'd choke points since it's Clash.

When we took out break before the Flawless run, I warmed up my Titan with this rumble match
Pretty sure this was the first time I took my Titan to the Lighthouse

PvE = Int/Disc. You could make an argument for Int > Disc = Str, but my play-style rarely has me in melee range so I don't value Str very highly.
I'm not qualified to talk about PvP, but @Booker or @Awsimo probably have advice that is worth taking to heart.

This comment caused me to check Destiny Status for my stats, and... I really don't PvP much. xD

0 PvP Scout Rifle kills on my Warlock
0 PvP Fusion Rifle kills on my Titan
