anytime more solo content is added is great news to me!
I have no guild and don't enjoy pugging so i've never done an op. I would love to do them for the story (even if they gave reduced rewards, like only common data crystals/208 gear)
It looks like the "pre-order" stuff for the new expansion (as far as I can tell it's just "be subscribed") is pretty great. Shae Vizla as a companion who is cool, and an AT AT walker mount. I'll take that I think.

Finally watched KotET trailer.
I noticed almost immediately they'd taken the opportunity to use music from The Force Awakens.
It's interesting to see some KotFE trailer events from the perspective of Vaylin, as well as just how much of a monstrous powerhouse she becomes despite her apparent innocent start.

possible spoiler, even though it came from musco during an open Q&A

the kid is supposedly not Vaylin
But her mother calls her Vaylin? I don't know unless it's a twist I don't see that making sense

True.
Counterpoint: if nothing else,
Vaylin isn't blonde in the game.
And it does contrast with what Senya said about her before, that she was always a terror, able to move stuff while in utero and crippling guards when they didn't play with her. There's a lot more innocence in the blonde kid in the trailer--very much "doesn't know her own strength", not "Damien from day one".

Here's a theory.
What if Arcann and Thexan weren't the only twins Valkorian and Senya had?
Finally going to get around to playing some of the newer stuff. For some reason I stalled out on the Shadow of Revan material. So I'm getting through that now with my juggernaut.

Shadow of Revan is kind of a pain in that way...very grindy quests, sporadic story and it still feels short when you get it done.
The new stuff is pretty good...though they start to put more and more filler mobs as you go along.

I mean sure that's possible but it's soap-opera dumb, IMHO. Also you'd think it would have been mentioned before now.
EDIT: Also Jesus Christ EA stop using Bitraider. It is a garbage system for trash people. You have your own fucking digital storefront app. You can use that for TOR. You douchenozzles.
I think the most likely answer is simply "they're retconning a bunch of stuff about Vaylin because they realised they're basing an expansion around a character who sucks hard"
yeah, I was a blonde toddler; now only my eyebrows are.

I'm still blonde-ish, but my only really blonde hair is this white-blonde patch on my chin. (I'm pretty sure it's not prematurely white just because I've had it as long as I've had facial hair, but you can never tell, Iguess.)
Anyone here know how reputable a site called Jedipedia is? Because according to stuff they've gotten from an early PTS patch, there's a big gameplay change coming with the upcoming expansion.
-Base classes have been removed from the game; you have to choose an advanced class during character creation. This was previously only required for level 60 token characters and will now extend to level 1 characters. We don't know if and how existing base class characters will be affected.
-Ability pruning: With base classes removed, the advanced classes will now vary further than before. Various base class abilities are now restricted to one advanced class, ensuring that ranged players won't use melee abilities (and vice versa). This improves advanced class identity and simplifies the skill bar for new players.
-You no longer have multiple stances (Forms, Charges, Techniques, Cylinders, Cells) available at once. Instead, there is a passive stance that gets replaced depending on the current Discipline. This ensures that you cannot accidentally select the wrong stance.
-To improve the leveling process on advanced classes, many abilities get learned earlier than before. This reduces the "keystone ability" issue where you need to relearn the rotation every time you receive an important ability. Players receive the first Discipline passive at level 10 and the first utility slot at level 14.
-Abilities and passives that were automatically learned upon selecting an advanced class now have to be picked up from the class trainer at the respective level.
-All casted and channeled abilities have been removed from melee classes or turned into instants, making melee players more mobile.
-Stealthed players are now fully invisible, you can no longer see them even when you are right next to them. The stealth level increase that was previously tied to an ability (8s duration, 60s cooldown) is now always active. You can only reveal stealthed players with AoE abilities or increased stealth detection now. Players who were stealthed by an Operative's Infiltrate or a Scoundrel's Smuggle are not affected by this change; you can still see them if you are within 15 meters.
-Guard is no longer tied to the tanking stance and can now be used by DPS players as well.
-60-second droid mezes have been removed from Agents/Smugglers and Marauders/Sentinels. Droids (and other NPCs) can still be mezed with the mezes from Sorcerers/Sages and Mercenaries/Commandos.

I'm not sure how I feel about them, but the first four points all make a certain design sense and then suddenly the fifth one takes that philosophy, crumples it up, and shoots it into the garbage can.
Then the fifth and sixth one put the train back on the tracks, then the seventh one derails it again and the eighth one scavenges the engine for parts and runs off.
Here's Jedipedia's report on the change in more detail if you want to see how it affects the characters you play. Again, I'm not sure exactly how legit their reporting is and since this comes from a PTR patch to boot, please take the news with a grain of salt.
Simplifying the skill bar makes a lot of sense but I'm also not looking forward to having to learn to play each class again.
Every big change like this is a potential "now the class I liked is no fun" moment. I'm still salty about them taking away the backstab that knocks them on their ass from agents. And orbital strike. Fuckers.
So if that report is true then they are finally cutting down on the absurd number of abilities? I certainly hope that's the case.

I just started playing again a few days ago and I'd give just about anything for some ability pruning. Looking at my action bars is like looking into a rift in time back to 2004.
Running through the Fallen Empire Empire chapters as a dark side Sith is hilarious, thanks to how much Koth immediately regrets helping to free me.
Especially because im taking every chance to put him down and kill everyone on Zakuul I come across.
As cool as the trailer is, I haven't been overly keen on the direction this game's been taking in a while. The base game storylines are frequently good to great and get you highly invested in class specific storylines and characters aaaand then that all gets thrown in the garbage in favor of an awful pandering retread of Revan. I was invested in the story of the Sith Warrior, or the Bounty Hunter or etc etc. Grafting the Outlander onto that and frequently losing most of the party members from my character's story (or at least any level of real reactivity that makes them still feel like they're there) is...demoralizing to say the least.
Will the story still feel completely one size fits all? Will there be meaningful personalization to the class? I'd like to believe so. I don't think it's unsalvageable even if the Eternal Empire feels an awful lot like repackaging the original premise of TOR for a do over but...eh. Optimism is hard.

Given what they have done for KOTFE, I would be very surprised if we get the sort of fragmentation and personalization that we had in the base game.
Shadow of Revan very explicitly closed that door on Rishi, where we had our last acts as a (Knight/Counsular/Bounty Hunter/Agent/whatever).
I would like to see more individualized content, but in it multiplies the effort/cost by 8 to do, so I can see why they would generally avoid it.
For better or worse (mostly for worse) I doubt we'll see the like of the original 8 class stories again.
I'm for distributing the [Force Choke] dialogue option to all classes.

I'm fine with no class-specific stories. It allows them to focus more on making one good story as opposed to having 3 that are good, 3 that are meh, and 2 that are garbage.
It's not like the KOTORs had class-specific storylines. It isn't a hallmark of the series. Just a few nods here and there are all I need.

More or less what I expected, unfortunately. Especially since all of the original writers of those class stories have long since dispersed to the winds, contributing to the lack of any of the same tone.
It's a bad feel to really like a game and then have it transform into something completely different.
I'd like 2 storylines, one Republic, one Empire.
Because coming up with situations that require the combined forces of both sides working together is increasingly stretching credibility and you need escalating reasons why they work together.
i.e. First theres the Hutts, a third neutral empire with resources both could use. Make sense both sides have dealings with them on Makeb (both sides also got a different story)
Then the Dread Masters who can brainwash everyone to serve them. Ok I can picture both sides fighting to stop them.
Revan. Guy has a cult amongst both sides (thanks to being an idol to Sith and Jedi) Both sides want him dead.
Eternal Empire. Secret Empire from a random part of the galaxy attacks and conquers both, an alliance of both sides is formed to fight back
Like what threat could be next? one that requires both sides to work together in the same storyline. How do you top the Eternal Empire
Just go back to having the two sides at war with each other. There's even the storyline that the Republic under Chancellor Suresh is going full ditactorship whilst the Sith have to deal with the realisation their Emperor was a lunaticand that backstabbing each other all the time during the war might not be a good thing.

That's promising. I got to the Heroics in these storylines but I never could find a group to play them with.
