I have four shinies, my Metagross and Golem I evolved from a couple GTS trades (I think the graveler's legit, can't speak for the beldum), my Kingler I chained myself way back in diamond, and my Archeops I hatched myself that cut my breeding a perfect one short. He popped out of his egg and I called it right there.
So until today, the only shiny pokemon I had seen in the wild was a shiny Gyarados (which is "soda ray G" backwards, fyi), which is super dumb because you get a shiny Gyarados for free as part of the story of gold and silver.
But today I ran into and caught a shiny Lickytung.
The only shiny pokemon I've ever seen in the wild through all of my time in all of the games was a shiny Magikarp.
In Heart Gold.
In the same lake.
Immediately prior to.
The Red Gyarados.
You can imagine my consternation.
What you need to do is level it to 100 so that it can never evolve into Gyarados. Now it's unique!
Rediscovered Pokemon Y in my DS and have fallen into a Wonder Trade hole.
I want to use the GTS to get more starter pokemon, but the explicit trades requests so far have been... unreasonable.

Damn you poogles!
Anything specific you're looking for? The good starters I can get for you out of my friend safaris easy enough. However the others don't really have a way to get them that isn't an inelegant pain in the ass.
My buddy bred a shiny Honedge and it looks fucking badass. The only ones I've managed to get myself is a shiny Geodude, a shiny Cleffa from breeding, and a shiny Tympole. Then I've gotten a few from wonder trading like a shiny Ludicolo and a Stoutland (both of those were lvl 100 too)

I've only just beaten the 1st gym and got the Snorlax, so anything would be good (and greatly appreciated.) I picked up the frog starter, and a charmander but that's basically all I have.
Ooh, and a Riolu I just wonder traded for! Wonder trade is civilization

Just take a look there and let me know a few you want and I'll grab them when I get a chance. I have the vast majority on that list available so they typically shouldn't be a problem. (though I'll tell you if I don't have it. I know for a fact I don't have a Ditto safari yet)
The only thing to keep in mind is that Safari pokemon start at level 30, so you won't be able to use them until you've gotten a few more gyms under your belt. (or at least it wouldn't be a good idea to)

Just jumped back into my pokemon y save, had 8 badges just before the elite 4
currently leveling up a larvitar, heracross, gible, ampharos team along with my lvl 80+ kadabara and blaziken
i have omega ruby as well, but thats around the first or second badge
i think i can grind out victory road wild mons to exp share them all up to 50s, then elite 4 them to 70+
is there a better way to grind? im not 100% dedicated to ivs and all that jazz
My big problem now in HG is that the gyms seem to be lvl 30 and up, but wild pokemon are lvl 24 at best. Makes training a real chore.
I got lucky against Chuck (poison powder killed his Poliwarth) and had the best possible match ups against Jasmine (Diglet at lvl 20 could 1 hit her Magnamites with Magnitude, Heracross took 1 hit from 1 Iron Tail and countered it for a 1 hit up on Steelix)
I've got:
Lvl 28 Bayleef (Which is worthless in gyms so far)
Lvl 26 Heracross (Suprise hero. Got him for Whitney and then kept him around. Helped me beat Chuck and Jasmine)
Lvl 23 Growlith (who needs to get stong to beat Price!)
Lvl 22 Diglett (I might switch him out for Tyranitar but he's groing on me)
Lvl 22 Shelder (Need some Ice moves for Clair. I replaced my Starmie for him, even after my Starmie swept Morty singlehandedly thanks to Camouflage turning him normal. I miss ya Starmie!)
Sixth slot is currently open, don't know what I want in there.
I think I've fallen into the trap I did last time I played if switching out which Pokes I want to often. But there's so many!
Restaurant Le Wow in Lumiose. It's also the best method in the game to grind money. (it's also better than anything available in OR/AS)
All of the trainer pokemon are level 63, the EXP and Money O-Powers don't expire until the gauntlet ends completely, and you get a massive amount of balm mushrooms for completing each one on the proper turns(like 156k worth if you did everything right). You can also chain run them, compared to the E4 which will always go through that registration sequence and then dump you at the starter town.
Hi-Roller is worthless, don't bother with that. It's only a 2 level increase with a ~30% higher profit compared to Le Wow, but a 500% higher entrance fee.

Perfect! I'll see what I have and add you. Pretty sure my Friend Code is in my signature (although I'm on the mobile site and can't see it lol). I'll be on tonight for a while if you're free (starting at 7:30 EST).
How much have the contests changed between RSE and ORAS? I've got all the Pokémon I used for contests back in Ruby and I'm wondering if I'd be able to win with them in AS.
I guess to transfer from X to AS I'll need to get someone to help me trade back and forth or pay for Pokémon Bank.
Making everything from scratch every time is a neat little indie-gimmick, but just a bad practice if you aren't your own boss. What the fuck are you doing to your employees? What is even the point? Is your consumer-base emperor Caligula?

The contest move effects have been redone, so their movesets may or may not still work effectively. The game will remember their old contest stats, but there's no longer a cap on total contest stat points, so 'one stat maxed' isn't top-class anymore. It'd be just as easy to make new ones, in my opinion.
I need to trade evolve the two fairy pokemon from x and y. Is anyone around that can do that with me?
My 3ds friend code is:
4511-0460-0439
I would do it over the gts but it needs a held item to evolve and I don't trust strangers with all that.
It sounds like you may own both X and Y?
I don't mean to sap the wind from Donnicton's generosity, but you can complete that trade on your own if you have both X and Y. (or any combination of the latest generation of pokemon games)
For example, to move the fairy from X to Pokemon Y, first log into Y and place some inconsequential pokemon like a bidoof or luvdisc on the GTS. Ask for the fairy pokemon in exchange. Then log into X and trade the fairy pokemon with yourself.
The worst case scenario is that someone snipes your inconsequential bidoof/luvdisc.
Perform the operation again to move it back. Remember, only offer up pokemon that you're willing to lose. Hold onto the Pokemon that you want to keep until you you find your other cartridge's bidoof. That way the Pokemon that you care about is always in your possession at all times and no one has an opportunity to snipe it.

It's a bit grindy at the end game, but I've found it fairly easy through most of it. and Misty's gym is *super* easy in Yellow since, you know, Pikachu.
Personally I'm actually surprised with how easy it is compared to my memories of it.

Misty wasn't too bad for me, but I'm having a BIG time struggle with Koga (his Pokemon are level 48-50 and mine are 30 at best). Almost beat his lv. 50 Venomoth but Poisonpowder did me in...

Weirdest part - all of the wild Pokes and Route trainers nearby have Pokemon around where mine are (even the Fucshia Gym trainers were no higher than lv. 36), so why would Koga's be so much higher?

A thought, for anyone having difficulties:
If nothing else about the game was rebalanced for this forward port, unless I'm grievously mis-remembering systems from the past or making a bad assumption about the process, your pokemon are technically less powerful than they would have been on the original carts. Original Red/Blue/Yellow/Gold/Silver/Crystal had a different EV system under the hood where you could effectively get twice as many. To my knowledge, that's some of the reasoning there was never a compatibility between those generations and anything newer. For these re-releases, since the pokemon CAN be moved forward, I assumed they reduced the number of EVs they can get, which even at lower levels would likely have an impact on your stat growth.
(I also have no recollection of having a truly bad time with Koga, so I'm guessing there are such subtleties involved here)
For an old hand likely getting back into the game with Moon/Sun, is there a reasonable way to pick up a Bulbasaur outside of buying one of the re-releases and bank-ing it forward? Similarly, if I really wanted to play through the new game with a Froakie in tow, I'm guessing having a local one to trade ASAP is the right way to do that? Or can you do friend-code-trades from any pokecentre trade booth?
