Listen guys, we've already established that the PokeDex is just what happens when you send a bunch of barely literate children out into the wild and tell them to take notes on the various monsters they encounter.
Its like if Wikipedia were edited entirely by particularly dumb 5th graders.
I don't know, the dex entry about how Cubone wears it's mother's skull as a helmet is the one that gets me.
Is it supposedly wearing the skull helmet its mother had, or its mother's actual skull? What happens to the mother's old skull helmet?
From Serebii:
X It wears the skull of its dead mother on its head. When it becomes lonesome, it is said to cry loudly.
Y It always wears the skull of its dead mother, so no one has any idea what its hidden face looks like.
I am playing through White for the (mostly) first time, after having bought it at launch, gotten three badges, and then life happened and I forgot about it. I transferred all my pokes recently to the bank and started over because hell if I could remember what I was doing at the time. My goal is to get through the main game so I can transfer all of my rad pokes from Pearl/SoulSilver to it, then to the bank. I've got pokes that are older than the original DS on my SoulSilver cart I want to carry into SuMo because reasons.
I'm now about 15 hours in and haven't even cleared the first gym. Is there a watershed moment at any point in this game where I don't have to slam my face into a grindstone for 10 levels per poke between every damn gym? I figured out about 5 hours ago (played) about the Audinos creeping in the bushes, but haven't really figured out a good method for triggering shaky bushes.
God, I hope SuMo rebalances the grind. They've got me on the hook already, but a guy only has so much time for running his pokes through the gauntlet.

Well, the basic thought ("catching animals and having them battle is kinda messed up if you think about it.") is one that preceded and outlived Black and White, so at the very least it's a resonant one.
At the same time, though, saying "yeah Plasma's right" would be to deny the premise of the whole series.
Pokemon battles are like Martial art competitions. The actual catching thing is a weird Japanese culture thing related to Beetle fights
Martial arts competitions where small aquatic animals can be electrocuted by larger animals until they pass out from the pain.
I mean, it works in the context they set up that pokemon just sort of naturally love to engage in combat and compete with other pokemon but still kind of a fucked up concept at it's heart of making your pets engage in violence for sport.

Just keep going back and forth. One of them will eventually pop out.
I don't remember having so much trouble that I had to grind, though.
I just got to move "organize boxes" to the top of the PC menu in ORAS. Why the hell is that something that you get to do partway through the game and not just the default?
Actually, why haven't they just gotten rid of "withdraw" and "deposit" generations ago?
One of the first things I was ever told about pokemon is that they's ornery and will beat the shit out of kids without bodyguards.
As well they should. There's kids running around ready to throw the first pokemon they see into a digital hellscape from which the only escape is brutal combat.
"Hellscape" is a great word for coloring things.
I feel like the main Pokemon games would have a lot less of an inextricable dark undertone the developers never wanted, if it just straight up did not have humans in it.
Like if the context was instead a band of Pokemon (who could speak to each other) traveling the land with the goal of being the best and establishing their own sort of mobile dojo on their road to the championship, gathering recruits who have lost to them and want to learn their fighting style.
Man, wondertrade is on fire today (with probably hacked pokemon) got a shiny raikou and a shiny koffing while clearing out the last few breeding projects.
Is horrifying mortal combat as much of a moral issue when you have wide-spread free instantaneous magic health care? People always discuss how horrible it is for Pokemon to beat each other up, but never consider that the advances in health care in the Pokemon world make injuries merely temporary, while the bonds forged in the heat of battle last well beyond.
It's not really mortal combat. I've never once seen a pokemon die or even become crippled as the result of a pokemon battle. Even the wild ones. It's simply a martial sport like one of the many examples that you can find in literally any culture.
The most brutal thing I've ever seen depicted in pokemon was the one time Mewtwo turned Ash to stone or something before pokemon tear magic revitalized him. That was weird.

Especially if it's fluffy and harmless.
That's not even a problem, though.
Everyone knows the true horror is Parasect.
Hell, just pick a ghost type.

I'd beat the shit out of kids to avoid that too.
Every time an NPC says that in game I'm always reminded of those assholes who are all like "nah guys the slaves loved work, it was great".
Pokemon is way more fun if you view it as one giant unreliable narration.

Have you met a pokemon? They're violent people.
(poke)Men become what their environment expects them to be.
What everyone doesn't realize is that marowak skulls are like shark's teeth. Losing their head is no big deal.

You should read what Heatmor do to Durant.
(though in game terms Heatmor is a profoundly bad pokemon and a Durant would flatten it)
I'm not sure how that's related to the question of the most brutal thing depicted in the franchise.
