Considering I'm hearing impaired and played the game with the sound off most of the time (not to mention the tinny GBC speaker), I'm going to go with no without even clicking that.

So, question. Pokemon Go has given me the itch to play real Pokemon again. I've got a 2DS currently, but plan to pick up a New 3DS in the near future. Would it be less hassle for me to wait until I get the 3DS vs starting on the 2DS and switching? All my friends and such will be lost in the transition, correct? Is there anything else that'll be a problem? (Does Nintendo have a cloud account system yet? I'd love to pick up Super Metroid and stuff when I get the 3DS, but will it still be forever locked to that one device?)

Nah, you won't lose anything. System transfers move everything from the old system to the new one.
You really don't need the 3d for pokemon, but the stronger processor can be a boon since pokemon occasionally has frame rate problems (mostly in horde bsttles).
Actual ownership of the digital games will be tied to your Nintendo network ID, so the games themselves won't be tied to the device. I don't recall if a system transfer will transfer your saves or not. I know Nintendo doesn't offer an official means of backing up and restoring saves (the homebrew / hacking community has a solution for that though).
Your pokemon can be easily transfered between titles via pokebank.
Maybe it's because I played ORAS first but coming fresh off just beating Y yesterday, I by far preferred ORAS, if only because it had a real post-game. But I also prefer the story, less simple map, less pitiful rivals and better second screen usage.
Speaking of which, have we seen how Sun/Moon are using the bottom screen? God I hope they just work on improving the PokeNav Plus from ORAS and don't go back to the complete waste it was in BW and XY.
We've seen it used for displaying a map via the Rotom Pokedex. Most likely all the dex's functions are going down there.
Cool, that's a relief. Black was a huge step backwards in that area, so I really don't want them to go backwards again.

Even on the New 3DS, the framerate in horde battles is pretty hideous.

Is ORAS programmed to use the extra power and RAM of the n3DS? They were released pretty close to each other, it's possible weren't able to add it in.
Hello fellow Pokemans. I see at a local game trading store they have a Ruby and Emerald up for sale ($30/$25 each) and I am wondering what are (if any) the telling signs it might be a bootleg/fake?
Thanks for the tips. Bought Emerald but when I load up the game it says the battery has run dry. Coulda sworn the dude told me he put in a new battery.

I don't know. I've been using custom firmware on my new3ds. Horde battles run fine for me, but the custom firmware might be forcing the processor to run in the higher gear.
My cousin is looking to trade guys from Diamond to evolve them. What games can I use so that I can trade them back to him (like, I don't want to trade to a newer game and not be able to give him his pokemon back).

Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, Heart Gold, Soul Silver. All the Gen IV titles.
Wife and I are debating getting competing versions for sun and Moon like we have in the past. However I haven't actually done friendly battles since I think red/blue era. What're the options for sun/moon? Has that actuslly been detailed yet?

No details yet beyond the sporadic reveals of new Pokemon and features.
Thinking about buying a 3DS just for Sun/Moon, but I'm super-worried I'll get "old dog, new tricks" syndrome from all the new features that have happened in the last, like, 20 years. Breeding? Trick rooms? Held items? Natures?
Fuck me.
Just go for it! Y was my first Pokemon since Yellow, and it's a blast. XP share is like, my favorite new feature. The biggest hurdle for me was not knowing much about any post gen 1 pokemon. This can lead to your best mon getting one shotted by something you didnt know it was weak to. It's not too bad, though. You learn as you go.
Everyone has a price. Throw enough gold around and someone will risk disintegration.

The best part about not knowing about the later pokemon is going "WTF IS THAT" when something pops up you haven't seen before.

To be honest, the idea of stumbling into a world of new Pokemon I don't recognize is the majority of the appeal for me. Exploration and discovery = exciting, getting tripped up by convoluted mechanics I wasn't aware of = intimidating.
I'm playing Yellow on the 3ds...
It's kinda hard! pokemon take AGES to level up
It gets a little better after you get Exp. All, but it still takes forever. The biggest change I like in X/Y is getting experience from catching Pokemon, too.

Has anyone heard anything else about the Shiny Mewtwo distribution? Right now I'm assuming pokemon GO threw the people who manage the pokemon trainer club into total mayhem and they've got too much on their plate to perform the Mewtwo distribution at this time.

So today I decided that I didn't want to wait until November for Pokemon and picked up a 3DS + Y version while I was on my lunch break.
It seems pretty cool.
(Also picked up Link Between Worlds because LttP was my jam back in the day.)

I had a pretty long break before I picked up White a few years ago, and it's honestly not too bad. All of the fancy new mechanics are 100% unnecessary for progressing through the main quest (except new types I suppose), and most of them are mature enough that people understand them well enough and have written really easy to understand guides on them.
If you like seeing a bunch of new and confusing pokemon, hooray! If it's too new and confusing, serebii exists and makes it very easy to tell what you're up against if you want to know.
I live in a town of about 5k people and came home tonight to police lights flashing and a bunch of people in the park with phones out. Turns out the local police started a "safe in the park" environment for Pokemon Go people, it is one of the gyms, to wander about safely with the cops taking part in the capturing with the kids.
I started playing Omega Ruby again. And when I mean again, what I really mean is for the first time. Technically, my game file is as old as launch day for this game. But I am a massive failure and I had less than 1 hour of playtime on OR. Which is a shame, really, because the original Ruby is probably my favorite in series.
But Pokemon Go has revitalized my poke-mania and so here I am. Playing OR for the first real time. This game has a lot of nice quality of life improvements. Battles feel so fast. Healing pokemon in the Pokecenter is fast. And the PokeNav or whatever it's called, where you can spawn a pokemon and sneak up on it for a guaranteed battle is fantastic.
The Hoenn Region and the Ruby/Sapphire Pokedex is my favorite. I love Torchic -> Blaziken.
Don't forget to download your Shaymin. The offer ends tonight (Sunday)
Ah, thanks for the reminder. I got it on my Y version (digital) a while ago, but forgot to get it on my X and Alpha Sapphire (carts) as well. Having two extra copies for trading purposes should be pretty useful.
I'm finishing up a lot of my half-done Pokemon tonight (bred Pokemon, often EV training is finished, but they haven't been leveled up or don't have the right moves, ~50% of them are "I already have this but this one has a different nature"), which means a lot of Move Tutoring, and oh my god, I hate the move tutors. I hope they are set up in a way in the future where I don't have to talk to all four of them and hope one of them is the one that happens to have what I want. Make it like the Move Reminder where you pick a Pokemon and it just gives you a list to choose from! Or give them a little sign in front that says what kind of moves they have (like, physical vs. special)! Just do something!
Actually, I'd really love the a post-game Battle Facility that collects all of my breeding/training needs in one zone, so that I don't have to fly to use the Move Reminder, Name Rater, etc. It just makes everything more of a hassle than it needs to be. It's not even a huge issue, but it would be so easy to make it better...
I have never done the battling thing before in Pokemon. I've always just played the story, collected them, and then stopped.
I'd like to change that in Sun/Moon. I'll probably try my hand at some EV training and whatever other min/maxing there is. I might try to actually put together some competitive teams and see how I do at competitive battling.
