Yeah, I would keep forgetting to fill it because its not in a spot I visit often. Reportedly, in 1.6 we will be able to actually move it, or even move the whole farmhouse to another spot on the plot if we want!
For those that went with Bachelorettes, which one did you choose?
I'm kind of struggling since Penny, Abby, and Maru all live with their parents, which feels like they are very young (my PC seems like he's probably a decade older). Of course they were the 3 I was drifting towards. Both Abby and Penny apparently give the best gifts. Emily I didn't really romance as I felt bad for Clint. Haley rubbed me the wrong way at the start, and while she seems to improve over time, I'm too suspicious that her attitude change is also happening as I become the wealthiest person in SV haha. Leah just never clicked, which is weird since she should be the best option, she's definitely older given her ex situation and seems generally nice. Maybe because I wrote her off too soon, it's too late to come back haha.
EDIT: I know it's just 1 person developing, so pretty unreasonable, but it would have kind of cool to have unique options depending on who. Like Harvey might boost your HP or Abby gives you more attack or join you for 5 minutes in combat, Maru could replace build robots to auto gather, etc.
I typically choose Leah or Haley. I think Penny is fine too, age-wise, she's working as a teacher and supporting her unemployed mother in their trailer. I'd argue Penny needs the Farmer the most.
I wish the game had gone the direction to let you pair up the other obvious couples. It's a little sad that you're getting married and having kids while your dozen peers all stay alone just in case you get bored and want to try marrying someone else.

One niggle I've had with a lot of the romance candidates is that so many feel like walking red flags.
In my many plays of the game, I've married Leah, Penny, Abby, and Hailey. Normally Leah and Hailey. I admittedly have a thing for blondes and redheads.
Penny does feel like she needs the farmer the most, but also sometimes felt like she just needs any method to escape her awful home life.
Abby feels directionless. She's "fun" as a goth girl who like video games and swords, but I never got sense for just what she wants her life to actually be. I get why people like her, but I'm older and have more standards now.
Emily was added after release and it shows. Her romance scenes feel like they barely involve the player, she feels weird for the sake of being weird, and the Clint stuff that was from release feels awkward in combination. In one run, I hit 10 hearts with her and got the "implied to have banged her out in the woods" event from giving her the gem Clint asked me go give her for him.
Leah feels the most like a real person, but that comes with real person issues. While her ex is clearly an ass, running away to a farm town where dreams go to die just doesn't strike me as a mature decision. Obviously hasn't prevented me from marrying her a few times, just that I can see why many would stay away.
Hailey definitely will rub many people wrong. But she has actual growth in her character arc regardless of whether the player romances her. And I can also empathize with how soul-draining living an area that is anathema to a young adult's needs and desire can be.
I've never romanced the guys, but I can get why some bisexual friends never have either:
Sam feels even younger than Hailey. Seriously, getting in trouble for skateboarding as an ostensibly adult?
Harvey went too far in the other direction. I know some women who like him, but I can see a ton being turned off. Plus his interest in Maru clearly predates #MeToo and the inherent issues with crushing on someone who he technically employs. I personally can give him a pass given he doesn't actually take advantage of his position of authority and the dating pool in the town is extremely limited, but I fully get why many women would have problems.
The jock dude whose name I'm not even bothering to look up is just dumb. I've read things from some girls who like how he turns out to be a serious softy, but he's still just dumb in his scenes.
Sebastian's goth aesthetic is going to put some people off immediately. His smoking is going to put off many who still soldiered through. That's a bit of a shame given he feels pretty fully realized though. I lived with a relative who didn't view anything involving computers as a serious thing which was an issue as a software engineer so I can really understand his issues with family and friends at times. Still, he reads really weird after covid turned many stable corporate jobs into WFH things. And smoking is definitely gross.
Shane is an ass with an uncontrolled substance abuse issue. I really wonder about the people who insisted be he become a romance candidate. He does get a character arc and can be relatable, but a bit too much so.
Oh, and Maru? She's the goddamn Mother of Skynet. There aren't many redder flags than building robots that instinctively inflict harm on me. I like her family members, IRL I like mixed race girls, but Maru is a hard no from me for so many damn reasons even as a software engineer that loves robots and cybernetics.
You forgot about Elliot, but just remember, he does heroin.
I feel bad for forgetting him because his story arc as friends is one of my favorites. I just really like how it can end up going so against type of the stereotypical sadboy aspiring writer. That he has a scene where you hang out just for the sake of hanging out as opposed to trying to resolve a dilemma or be there for emotional venting felt human.
Penny is best girl. I tried to date Abby but had the same issues you did; she doesn't feel like an adult. Which might not be an issue if I were playing the game as a 20-year-old myself, but as a 37-year-old it just feels a little creepy.
The community as a whole seems to like Leah the best. They had a "vote for your least favorite every day" elimination contest on the subreddit a while back and it went (in order of elimination):
Shane
Alex
Sam
Hayley
Maru
Elliott
Harvey
Emily
Penny
Sebastian
Abigail
Leaving Leah as the winner. I remember in my first run I was torn between Leah and Penny, the sticking point for Penny was that she doesn't like alcohol and inevitably wine brewing becomes the most profitable part of any farm and thus the easiest gift to give people since most villagers like it. But she has very legitimate reasons for not drinking after seeing what happened to her mother. Leah, on the other hand, doesn't like ice-cream. Who the fuck doesn't like ice-cream? Is she even human?!

Does she like other dairy stuff? Maybe after is lactose intolerant? I haven't played in a long time so I can't remember.
They never explicitly give anyone's dietry requirements, but I thought she might be vegan for a while until I found out that Goat's cheese is one of her favorites. Looking at her likes and dislikes I think she's just a health nut; her favorite foods include stir fry, salad and vegetable medley and she hates pizza, bread, hash browns and pancakes.
i go for shane because it's funny constantly finding him passed out drunk everywhere in the dang town

In my 3 complete farms, the first one was Leah. It’s a fun sequence of events, with some choices.
Second farm I went with Haley because I wanted to see how her off-putting attitude was at the end game and it turns out her character gradually, entirely changes by the end.
My third farm I dated most of them but went with Haley again because I liked the character development.
I think there's talk of Abby coming back home after graduating from school, which put her in mid-20s to me. Her old art style also made her seem a bit older as well. I think more unemployed millennial than high school grad.
But supposedly Elliot is in the older age cohort and I figured he was 18-22 with his simplistic Thoreau-like emulation even though his other backstop does end up being more than guy going to nature to write.

Some of Abby's dialogue mentions online college classes. It's an extremely small part of her dialogue though.
Elliot always read as older than Sam or Sebastian to me. He clearly has some developed skillsets even if he has blind spots in others. If nothing else, he can actually finish writing a book and emulating Thoreau takes some actual resources to pull off, both of which aren't college kid age things normally.
I tried picking up Stardew Valley again, and I cannot find my watering can. I have checked all the chests I could find on my farm, and also Lewis' lost and found. I do not have a fridge.
Because I am on PC, are there any mods or tools that would let me find my watering can?

Is it possible your save was in the middle of having it being upgraded by Clint?

Finally got to the island and to the top of the volcano. What ring combo's did folks find most useful?
Also when did folks stop?
Assuming I marry and have kids and unlock all the stuff on the island (still need to find Qi again). I have all the community upgrades and feels like I've done all the personal quests.

Is there any big ending thing or quest?
There's a tracker on the island for unlocking literally everything that gives you a cutscene. In practice most players just stop when they feel like it.

I am a few content patches behind on when I have played, I generally ran out of steam after the start of year 3

For me it's typically Winter 2. I'll have the Community Center repaired, oodles of cash from the greenhouse, most friendships capped, and not a lot to do, but I hate the idea of skipping days (or even just going to bed at 10 AM). I've seen the original ending once and I know I've met the requirements, so it just feels like I don't have much to do.
Has anyone tried the Expanded mod? It's too late to try it out for me now, but it seems like it adds a lot more stuff to round out the town.
Yeah, I've done a couple of Expanded playthroughs, though not in a year plus at this point. It's excellent. Adds a ton of content and is pretty seemlessly integrated with the base game. None of the new characters or updates to old characters stand out as too different.
yeah it's really nice, especially if you combine it with the mod that lets you marry Clint and also makes him absolutely ripped an unable to wear a shirt

Alright, but does the mod have this in it for Clint yet?

Yeah it looks really nice. It was always weird that I'm the only farm in the valley. I'm already 200 hours into this 1 run, so maybe for another round in a year or so. I heard his 1.6 update will focus on mods, it'll be interesting if he's making it easier, if we'll see more mod activity.
I haven't played it, but I have seen some playthroughs on Youtube. And it looks like the Stardew Valley board game is an incredibly strict race against time.
So... kind of depends on how you play Stardew Valley.
-Loki-Don't pee in my mouth and tell me it's raining.Registered Userregular
Despite the timer I've never felt compelled to race against time in Stardew.
In the opening seasons you've got bad equipment so it takes longer to dig/water crops, but you also have less money to actually buy said crops. As you get more money for more crops, you're naturally also getting the money to upgrade your gear and buy thins like sprinklers so by the time your farm would be a problem, time-wise, it's probably pretty self sufficient.
And even if your farm isn't self sufficient by then, there's literally zero consequences for being slow. Even the end game event can be triggered again by a fairly common item.
It's real weird to me when that aspect of the game is what is highlighted all the time.
The Sims has more punishing consequences for not doing things in your awake time than Stardew.
The board game replicates the video game to a surprising degree. Depending on what you like about both mediums it either allows you to do more of what you love in a physical, tactile space, or leave you wondering why you aren’t just playing the video game instead.
The biggest shift is the time limit and emphasis on racing to get things done because board games must have an ending so you can win/lose while the original can continue forever. Luckily this is easy to ignore if you didn’t meet the goal and want to keep going. (Give yourself an iridium victory if you did it in time, gold if it took you an extra season, etc.)
The player pawns are depressingly generic though, and I replaced mine with some extra meeples so they looked more like people to fit the rest of the aesthetic. All the tiles and boards look like they came right out of the video game (but less pixelated) so if you find it charming it could be worth getting on looks alone.

What did he get wrong, specifically? I have a group of friends that might be interested in this, but the arbitraryness sounds like a big turn-off.
Exactly that, nothing is arbitrary. You get a very random set-up and then literally everything the players do from that point on is to minimize the randomness. It's the entire strategy to the game. It's like a farming version of X-COM
The one time I played the Stardew boardgame was prob 2 years ago so my memory is foggy. I remember the Community Center goals being random, and we happened to hit a set that lined up well. If we hadn't, I think you could change one goal for a random new goal, but it was somewhat expensive? We won, and it was tense and fun, but it felt like we could have easily been screwed.
Very nice production value on the game though, great art obviously but nice tiles and stuff. I think it came with almost no storage infrastructure though?

just FYI, SUSD got the rules ridiculously wrong. Like, embarassingly.
The game is incredibly fun but it doesn't feel like Stardew Valley, it's very tense. It's one of my favorites and I have about 500+ board games
