I know this thread is about the election, but I just saw this and what the actual fuck America?!

This happened like 8, maybe 10 blocks from my apartment. It's a weird situation for sure, I don't even know what to think happened at this point.

And I'm applying for a job in that PD too...

I don't see this thread lasting much longer. I think there's a reason they tend to stick on D and D.

Well, it's also early as shit for a general election thread. I didn't start the 2012 ones until VPs were announced that August.

Rather than spend two hours compiling an article of point by point breakdowns of this argument like I normally would I'm just going to link to this Alternet article and go eat pizza and watch Lucha Underground.

I just wanted a place to talk about general election news and stuff now that the Scalia thread is closed. I've been reading more D&D threads and enjoying it but SE is special! And stuff. I like this board. :o

Yeah, but the circus was slightly more muted last go around.

Also here's a similar Mother Jones article.

    Have fun in the underground...

Looking through that article, it oversimplifies a lot of statistics. And I have some problems with at least a few of the polls it's using. But I'm not going to go into detail because that's boring and nobody wants that. (And honestly I'm lazy too.)

I'll say it is totally true that most Americans want campaign finance reform, and other anti-corruption reform. But then that's less "socialist" and more "don't be stupid." Oh and gun control. It's true that even among conservative americans most people want at least some gun reform but that's being blocked by the incredibly powerful NRA.

With a lot of other issues Americans have complex feelings where they're upset by the status quo but don't trust the government with added responsibility. Which sort of ties in where some of that article's findings include some pretty significant oversimplification. Also it's worth noting that because we're currently stuck with a two party system if even one issue is an absolute deal breaker for someone that can affect what their effective stance on issues is. But I'm rambling.

Anyway I'm not saying anybody's wrong for voting for Bernie Sanders, I just think Hillary is the better choice for right now. And hell if Bernie gets the democratic nomination it isn't like I'm not going to vote for him. Maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised by what he could achieve in office.

Juggalos were largely duped by a new age christianity group parading as something more meaningful and not directly related to christianity.

    so they're probably republicans.

  • GvzbgulGvzbgul Registered User regular
    Are Juggalos religious?

They believe in magic and miracles. They skew closest to some of the more backwoods/fringe elements of American Christianity.

    I have relevant Juggalo observations!

The ones who live in the apartments by the park where I like to eat my lunch have several Bernie stickers on their car. They're actually the first source that clued me in to the link between former Rand Paul Revolutionaries and some Bernie Bros.

Realizing lately that I don't really trust or respect basically any of the moderators here. So, good luck with life, friends! Hit me up on Twitter @DesertLeviathan

Shaggy 2 Dope and Violent J certainly are. From what i remember the dark carnival reviel when the sixth joker card finally finished up was that it was a metaphor for purgatory or something and doing better to be welcomed into heaven.

also for whoop whoop wicked clownz.

Back to what I said last thread, somebody should make a Heavy Metal Parking Lot style documentary with Trump supporters. Worst case scenario you just put ominous music under it and sell it to The History Channel in 20 years.

I liked Violent J's interview with Vice, and almost immediately after giving that answer about the dark carnival they asked him about problems facing youth at the time (2013 was when the interview happened) and he responded in a pretty cool way
I don't think there are a lot of problems in kids these days, I see it the other way around. Shit, when I was a kid, people used to say *homophobic slur* on TV, you know what I'm saying? I feel like kids today are raised with not so much hate...When I was a kid it was different man, there was a lot of racism. Of course there's still racism, but not like it was in the 80's. I think kids today are moving in the right direction. They don't trip out if someone's openly gay, its just cooler that way. We have a black president, thats awesome.

ed: VV Didn't know that, holy shit

Wasn't ICP insanely homophobic in the early days?

To be fair, so were most people I know... well, maybe not insanely.

I try not to hold people's past prejudices against them considering that a lot of work to combat bigotry revolves around educating people who are prejudice in part because of bigoted cultural norms in our society.

Up to a certain point though. It all depends on what they did because of the prejudices.
Using a slur in private conversations in your teens and 20's and latter realizing that's not ok? Fine, you're good.

Doing so on an album or encouraging hate to millions (oh god, that's probably an accurate number) of clowns who base their life choices around your crappy circus rap band? Yeah... you pretty much have to devote a good deal of the rest of your career to propping up minorities to make up for that shit.

But man, telling people that Faygo is a good drink? Fuck you, you're done for life.

    No I don't.

I know nothing about ICP. I'm okay with that.

So you ask, What is a Juggalo? Let me think for a second...

    Oh,

The term originated during a 1994 live performance by Insane Clown Posse. During the song "The Juggla", Violent J addressed the audience as Juggalos, and the positive response resulted in Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope using the word thereafter to refer to themselves and their friends, family and fans, including other Psychopathic Records artists. The fanbase boomed following the release of their third album, Riddle Box, in 1995, leading Insane Clown Posse to write the songs "What Is A Juggalo?" and "Down With The Clown" for their 1997 album The Great Milenko.

Also, any interaction with a Juggalo is to be taken with caution. Not all Juggalos are the worst people ever I'm sure, but I've never had a good experience with anyone who's "Down with the Clown".

    No I don't.
