dug a bit more and she claims she did not consent to have her words published, and that she received no response when she reached out to have them retracted
that would be a good reason! though I feel like it's less likely than just not liking how her responses come off
I don't really think that's a good reason to troll someone over a friends death

I guess I meant a good reason to be upset? I agree not a good enough reason to be an asshole about somebody's friend dying

Jesus, Jeff and Dan are out-Monster Factory-ing the Monster Factory in this BDO QL.
I get being upset at someone using a quote of yours and not wanting that but also what kind of person wanting to be any sort of journalist would take down mention of people in articles every time a person didn't want to be talked about
The most fascinating thing to me about the Allison Rapp nonsense is that these shits are targeting her primarily by using a paper she wrote that defends the very beliefs they claim to support. You know, the whole not enforcing Western standards on Japanese cultural products? You know the very thing they claim to be upset about here? It's kind of incredible, in a way.

Not sure if you're making a Hello From the Magic Tavern reference, or if you're calling people a name

I am calling people a name. That, on reflection, I'm not entirely cool with. One of those "didn't really think of the origin" moments.
you are the physical embodiment of why it is bad to form opinions upon seeing a tweet and why you should try and make sure you've understood the situation
i mean it's better than being an avatar of like, rage

The thing is I went and read her last two days of tweets to make sure I got it
I'm more like the avatar of someone who cant read names

In both the "see and comprehend the words" sense and the "read out loud" sense

the general impression i have always had is that unless you ask explicitly to be off the record, you're on the record and most suits against journalists are about interpretation of words
but I'm not a lawboy or a rulesgirl so I speak with no authority on that

I mean, even if I were to assume that Patrick is 100% in the wrong here, which is totally possible, the only thing I really saw was his response to her on twitter about them never going "off record" and therefore quotes were "fair game"
That tweet of hers still seems real shitty to me regardless of that, like the response to being wronged isn't to harass someone on twitter because someone they know fucking died.
@TankHammer After a fairly extensive search, I cant find a single hotel within reasonable distance that is not sold out at dragoncon, so it doesn't look like I'll be going
Appreciate the earlier heads up. Maybe I can do it next year.
I could have told you that. If you were coming alone I have an extra slot in my room, though. Might need to sleep on the floor at times, though.
Yeah id need to bring mrs chills at least.
I'll shoot for next year. When do you usually start looking?
The Monday following DragonCon is when rooms go up for reserve for the following year.
Also during DC is the cheapest time to buy tickets for next DC.
Yes, we are aware that this is insane but it grows bigger every year with no end in sight.

good LORD
well, I'll try to get a posse together for next year
Remember that Peeple app that got announced last year that was described as "Yelp for People" and would let people actually review other people and post their reviews on the app?
Well it is launching Monday. In response to the outrage they have made it opt-out so you can say "Hey I would like to not be reviewed by random people for the world to see" and if you opt in you can choose to hide any reviews you don't want others to see or find harmful or negative. They also allow for star ratings in 3 areas: Personal, Professional and Romance.
....unless another use has bought a TRUTH LICENSE which lets them see all reviews posted, even ones you have marked as hidden.
We have never been closer to Jeff Gerstmann's cyberdystopia dream

How do they not end up with that char ingame?
i think i saw that happen in monster factory too, it seems like it doesn't actually load your character in unless you quit and reload

This American gods sequel is terrible
That's not really what's going on here tho
she is upset because he quoted her without permission is what i gathered out of it. That can be grounds for a law suit if she can prove damages.
reading her twitter it seems her only response to Patrick was "I don't have time for this"
I don't know what the rules for this sort of thing are but I'm not sure you need explicit permission to reprint an email that's sent explicitly to you
I definitely do that all the time at work?
all we can really say is that sniping someone on twitter is poor form
I'm not entirely sure either, but i do believe there is a level of implied confidentiality because she never agreed to let him sure her name.
We could always ask one of the local lawyers, we have enough floating around.
