I like Oerba's Boon. What's wrong with getting a free Protectga on your heal?
When I'm running Vanille on my team as my WHM, I can save a spell slot by giving her Mako Might and then hitting an early Medica if I need the protect. On Ultimate bosses where spell space is very limited, sometimes having that extra slot freed up is a huge bonus.
I just wish Vanille had an MC2, because without it, she will never be as good as my Lenna.

Vanille's MC2 should come with the SSB fest/Hall of Rites/Abyss dungeon.
FFIX is easily my worst realm out of the commonly rotated realms. Obviously I'm weak in 1-3 since those never rotate through events. But out of the games that do, I am so bad at 9. I just feel so weak here.
I have like no record synergy here at all. When the last event came through with Ultimate Vosler, I was never able to even get to the 140, because I couldn't beat the 120.
Vossler was XII, but that's a similar realm where I feel people only have synergy because there's a massive imbalance in the number of common and 3* XII items compared to every other realm, and until Vaan, there weren't really any good weapons to take to a XII fight. Guns and bows and caster gear were all that were previously available as relics apart from the Danjuro dagger. When we finally get Basch, XII relics start to look really good.
The last IX event had Beatrix as Ultimate, and I think people generally either found her alright to handle, to downright frustrating (like me).
I really like Basch in 12 and I'm looking forward to his recruitment event. He's one of the last dudes that I'm excited for. Of course, DeNa is almost out of dudes anyway. I've looked at the most recent JP events and like 3 of them haven't had anyone new at all in them.

depends on the fight, but a lot of times you want the heal at a different time from when you want the protega. frequently if i need shellga and protega for an ultimate, i'll give shellga to pcecil and protectga on vanille so she can use oerbas to refresh protectga if she needs to. i have gone without protectga and only used oerbas to keep it up, but imo it depends on how the fight progresses and if you'll need to hit a medica early before massive physical damage starts going out.
so really nothing wrong with it, but high regen is generally just better. 5% hp healed per tick is extremely powerful esp as health totals rise with double broken characters.
They're still managing to come up with events to give us new people. Mostly villains now. FFIV finally introduced Yang, and Cid Pollendina is still not available. FFVI can give us Umaro and Gogo. Japan just got Garland, and they have a decent sized cast of FFXIV and FFT people to throw at us now that they're paying attention to those games.

There's still hordes of stooges and sidekicks from the games they could use, along with all the stuff from spinoffs and sidegames. They'll probably run out of viable 'new' bosses before they run out of possible playable characters. All the more reason to start roping in FFTA, SaGa, Mana, KH, etc, although I assume the much more profitable thing to do would be to sunset FFRK when it reaches critical mass and then make a brand new SquareRK, reusing an assload of the FFRK assets.

... Dragon Quest RK. Just give me DQ characters and realms. Do it! Let me give you my credit card!

They are slowing down on the new character introductions though. Seems like either the event introduces a new member or gives us a wardrobe piece for an existing one, guess that gives the graphics designers steady work. The main issue now seems to be making each of them different enough from others in their class. This seems especially true for magic users which primarily run off the same smattering of spells and the growing reliance on higher * skills means there are fewer effective red mages.
Still need Banon and Leo from VI, IMO. Well, Banon might be a stretch, but everyone loves Leo. So many conspiracy theories back in the day about how to resurrect Leo.
It's definitely difficult to introduce new characters who don't step on the toes of others with the same job. Palom and Porom are both pure 5* casters, Palom's stats rival Vivi and Lulu's. I don't think there is another purely 5* WHM which is actually a big detriment because it makes it difficult to find reasons to use Porom. It'll then come down to who do you like to use, which goes entirely based on whether you have relics for those characters, or you just like that series and want to use them.
I'm alright with them not introducing new characters every event. The game is still going to have life for probably another full year as they start giving characters who've been stuck at 65 their MC2s, and eventually Cloud will start things off again when he gets his MC3 to go to 90/95/99.
Well I'm not suggesting that you learn Blue Magic in the traditional way. But they could easily just add another category and maybe try to come up with some different effects.
Obviously with the Global release being 1year old and the JP release being about 1.5 years old, they're kind of stuck with what they've got.
But a full re-balance and skill distribution would be a way to add better character diversity. They could give us Time Mages, which area actually a thing in some of the tactics games. And they could move skills such as Haste, Slow, Stop to the Time Mages. And then they could add 4 or 5 star AoE abilities for Hastega, Slowga, Stopga, and so forth. (Yes, I know Slowga already exists as a single-target ability. So it would need to be Slowja).
They could also go with a Chemist class that has a mix of healing and attack abilities that wouldn't be considered white magic or black magic.
Blue Magic would be cool if you didn't have to hone the abilities, it was just drops. With Stamina, it's a bit awkward, but they already have us grinding RMs, so why not.

A system where blue magic orbs drop from monsters with learn able skills makes more sense, maybe even require a blue mage to be present. Definitely a notable absence of air magic without blue magic though.
They could add a Mystic Quest realm. Although I might have been the only one who actually liked that game...
Would be worth it for the music if nothing else.
I'd personally like to see more reasons to use all the terrible characters I have stinking up the joint. Add a "Core Challenge" or "Canon Challenge" past Elite to every story battle or something.
I would like to see some Vagrant Story. I think Sydney or Ashley would be the first characters I really chased relics for.
God no. If they're going to remain true to Vagrant Story, they'll make you run the 2 stamina dungeons over and over 800 times because you need enough "bat affinity" for Ashley's soul break to do more than single-digit damage to the + boss.
And then the ++ boss would be a fucking skeleton and those are only in the 4 stamina dungeons.

Also in between each wave you'd need to solve a box puzzle. The same puzzle 800 times.
So you know how they rushed our FFXIV event and moved it way up the calendar from when it should have released? Because they were trying to get it somewhat close to the release of Heavensward? They could easily do that with XV as well. Just do a global release. Pre-translate it and just give it to everyone all at once when XV releases.
I'm assuming XV will have a global release. Pretty sure the 13 trilogy was all global release.

Ugh, accidentally took Protectga instead of Shellga to Garland U.
That was more annoying than it needed to be.
Did I read correctly that sometime soonish they're going to reset the daily dungeons? So I should probably get around to mining the mithril out of the weapon upgrades and gil dailies?

First they are going to add a ++ level if we stick to JP schedule. The reset occurs when the fat chocobo appears.

It is, yes. Each event has a "Available Through" message on the in-game banner.

Aqua Breath, Big Guard, Trine, Maser Eye.

"Steal magic from monsters" doesn't really fit into this game very well, tho.

Definitely not. The closest (FFXIII-2) was a month and a half between Japan and everywhere else. The other two were ~3-4 months.
