I'm actually curious, is there anyone there anyway? I've been in the 1-14 zone and had trouble to find people, the level 30 zone has to be a very small percentage of players at this point.

Yeah. Most people concentrate in the beginning two zones because the extra risk of going deeper just isn't worth any of the rewards you'd get for it.

So, so far I've kinda being entirely underwhelmed by all the security wing abilities except for regen smart cover and even that feels over shadowed by the aid station's similar upgrade.

Someone convince me on beefy men considering gear keeps giving me tons of stamina and it feels entirely useless when you still die in a second of exposure.
Smart Cover definitely isn't overshadowed by Aid Station. It offers very sizable damage resistance and damage dealt buffs.

So, Level 13 now and I'm thinking that Assault Rifles are just LMG's with much smaller magazines. Is there any reason to spend much time trying to find an ideal AR ?
IME ARs have higher base damage and ROF and so will tend to burst harder, at the cost of reloading more, but killing off a couple people at the start of the engagement kinda matters.

Can some one either explain or link how player / darkzone lvl effects the area and grouping? I understand that areas have limits but how can you go into a DZ area I f your player lvl is fine but you DZ falls below req?

Also is Alex a popular name in Newyork? Must of killed 100 of them by now.

  • Waka LakaWaka Laka Riding the stuffed Unicorn If ya know what I mean.Registered User regular
From what I understand, the level range gives you a warning of the NPCs you will face the further North you go, that changes with your regular level and scales. If you are say, level 15-19, you can team up with a group of 20-26 level players, but you will have to match their DZ level when you join them ( in the group panel ) , but only lower can go higher, not the opposite. So bringing a 30 into a 15 zone is outside the limits.

So the crafting upgrade thing is slow and boring and stupid, but if you're on PC (Probably same for console, dont know) You can hold down the space bar, and just tap esc once the crafting is finished. As long as you hold down spacebar, the next craft is made immediately, and you just tap esc again, it can help you make a trillion upgrades in a row, with minimal effort. You get into a rhythm with it.

I had to upgrade almost 300 fabrics to blue quality. D:

Ran DZ for a good long time with @Jagmas and @Felonious Prime (Sidenote, typing that revealed that there is a forumer named Felonoius Monk. Heresy! False prophet!)

    Here is what we learned.

When they said that they were upping npc respawn and patrol they weren't fucking kidding.
The mid map park extraction point is a never ending stream of enemies.
The desk in the sport store is crafted of the finest adamantium.
If a skull shotgunner shoots Jag in the face point blank as he is sprinting, it will throw him backwards in a hilarious fashion.
We are an excellent fireteam as long as there is no plan. We survived chaotic ohgodwheredidtheycomefrom??? fights but if we tried to be tactical we all died.
Shooting grenadiers pouches, flamers tanks and gunners ammo boxes will never ever get old.

Lastly if I ever find the motherfucker who stole my purple drop I will hunt him until he quits playing DZ forever.

Had a great time playing with you guys last night. I wish I would have screenshot or recorded that firefight in the sports store, that was epic.

    Breakdown from operation "Purple Out":
    1) Thelonius drops a purple, his first in fact. The rub being we are on our way out because our stashes are full.
    2) The plan is made that he will grenade himself in the subway out of the way and clean up some space, I will stand watch.
    3) Thelonius first flash bangs himself, then drops a frag.
    4) Before his body even vanishes I get ambushed and killed by rogue agents
    5) the purple is gone, as well as a knit scarf I kind of wanted

Hopefully we can get into more shenanigans soon. Although I leveled to 20 after everyone left to try out that purple sniper rifle, so I'll be out of the bracket for a bit until you guys can catch up.

Yea working on it but I will probably still be behind starting next week. Did a bunch towards DZ 30 in case a nice gun/mod becomes available while I level with missions. Saw you and @Felonious Prime were both at 20 so figured ya'll had been playing a bunch. =)

Bliss and Barrett were pretty good villains but I'd hardly heard of Bliss until we put him in a burning tin can and mashed it into a building, and a buddy had to explain who this Ferro guy was after we blew him up. They could've made some 2nd liutenants to act the boss roles, so the larger-than-life menaces still were threats from beyond our reach. Who will be the story antagonists now, other than the first wave duder that stole the plague research? The storyline as it is doesn't really have anything left but him.

So currently rolling with an assault rifle and the 30 round assault riflish LMG. It's kind of a nice combo to drop enemies, only real issue is extreme distances, and in that I just close the distance instead because they make that viable.

    End game sorta cheese strategy for phat loots without DZ;
The UN mission on Hard has several named yellow dudes that drop pink gear, and the helicopter throws 4 pink drops. And you get one more for finishing the mission. You might be able to kill the hellicopter and then die to the LSB spawns to do it multiple times. I'm not sure where that checkpoint is. If you back all the way out into that parking lot on the far end of the big courtyard you basically just have to dodge missiles and rush in to the nearest box for ammo when you need it. It takes a while, but it's got great drop density compared to basically everything but DZ runs. I did it solo today without a ton of trouble.

    Well..
Apparently the LMB isn't dead, just reeling - the remnants are getting together for the Incursions, so there's that. Keener seems like he's going to be the big bad for a while, considering he seems to be disturbingly good at knowing when things aren't going his way and deciding it's a good time to fold, though I expect at least part of the subplot to be that he's trying to pay us to join him (and if what I've seen is any indication, people will be grumpy if they can't), or his confusion that we won't. It seems, though, that we faced enemy leaders for a group right about the end of their intended level range - Cleaners check out at 15ish, with their blatant weak spots and straightforward tactics, plus people with actual melee weapons. Rikers step out at 22ish(?) - more unit diversity than Cleaners, but still fairly straightforward tactics, no SHD tech. LMB uses actual SHD tech, with their medics and engineers, and they tend to have fairly diverse mob packs regardless of situation - usually a leader, a grunt, a couple chargers, a medic, and either a sniper or an engineer. We never face Rogue Division outside of missions - which is a good thing, because it keeps them from becoming easy, boring, or raising the obvious question of 'why the hell aren't we stepping harder on these guys'.

I got very lucky on an SMG drop that puts me up around 75k DPS. So I roll with that and a marksman rifle, because it's worthless at a lot of these ranges.

With a sawed-off shotty for burst death when necessary.

When I hit thirty, I did a tour of the safehouses to gear up. Every vendor will have one pink 30 item. That was huge in putting me in a position where I could reliably do hard missions for more drops.

It's really interesting how differently the individual weapons handle even within a category. I generally prefer Assault Rifles to LMGs, but I find myself really liking the L86 LSW because it handles very much like an AR with super high stability.

Well that was a fucking waste of an hour.

Tried to do the level 7 Cleaners mission where you go through the tunnels. I should've known it would be bad when people were dying in the first area. Bunch of level 5s and 6s.

Could not finish it. We got to the foreman, and everyone just kept dying - like almost instantly. Someone kept standing up on top of the shipping container that's the entrance to the final area and has no cover and dying. People kept standing in grenades and dying. People didn't shoot the flamethrowers and died almost the instant the fire was turned on them, leaving me to get swarmed under.

Death. Restart. Death. Restart. Death. Restart.

I tried being patient. I tried explaining what was going wrong and how to fix it. Didn't take. I actually lost it and cussed them out before quitting. I almost never do that in games anymore.

The gear disparity at low levels is kind of goofy. Especially when you're at that 5-6 point, like picking up an at-level piece of gear to replace your base stuff can increase your EHP by 25% on its own.

    Ugh. So frustrating.

Yeah haven't had a lot of time to sink into this but they've got the mechanics down right and enemy AI is refreshingly challenging; good flanking action, aggression and interesting enemy variations - yes they're all human but tactics change a lot depending on who you are fighting and that is far more meaningful!

@Frei was super cool last night and offered to hang out and shoot mans in the hard versions of the Emporium and Cleaner HQ missions! We suitably cleaned house on the cleaners; I was really enjoying solo play but it's way better with friends (and on hard).

Really getting that old ME3 gold feeling on some of those encounters - firing, madly re-positioning as you're overrun and keeping the rez'ing going to get through the fight. Thanks for the session @Frei !
