Salt and Sanctuary
It's a game for the PS4 that came out on March 15, 2016
It was made by Ska Studios
"Salt and Sanctuary seamlessly combines fast, brutal, and complex 2D combat with richly developed RPG mechanics. Discover, craft, and upgrade over 600 weapons, armor pieces, spells, and items as you explore a cursed realm of forgotten cities, blood-soaked dungeons, desecrated monuments, and the fallen lords they once celebrated."
This is a Souls game down to its core. Character customization, unforgiving gameplay, resource loss at death, traps that will instantly kill you, punishing bosses, etc...
The main difference is this is a 2D side scrolling action game so it's basically a SOULS METROIDVANIA with a kickass skill tree!!!
I know people here like Giant Bomb so here is their Quick Look

I just started playing it today and it feels a lot like a Souls game.
It's very fun and it has multiplayer but I haven't looked into it yet.
Let's talk about it!

Also I love this game so far
I would never make a thread specifically about my kid's name.

Tempted by your own question.
but they're listening to every word I say
Cooler than you, that's for sure
This game is real good.
This game is fun
Man I don't think I'm even at level 22 yet.
The second boss might end up being pretty easy for you.
I play this game like I play Souls games... I'm terrified of losing progress so I'm constantly afraid to move too far forward.
It's cool.
I just beat the 4th boss
I got enough salt from that to go from where I was (Level 20) to level 24.
This greatsword is real good.
I started Knight too.
Right now I'm using some mix and matched armor (two pieces of raiders gear 2 pieces of chain gear) the greatsword you can get near the beginning, sometimes 2handed sometimes with a that Tartus shield or whatever it is called. I also have a greathammer that does way more damage (like 80 attack) but can currently only hold it in both hands so I use it kinda rarely.
Mostly been focusing on damage output and carry capacity anyway, that way I just try to avoid most attacks and deal plenty of damage when I can poke.
The jester was tricky because he really punishes you for trying to get away from him, gotta stick in close like in bloodborne.
apparently the real salt starts here.
Looking at a list of areas and bosses it looks like it's pretty long.
I don't even know if I'm about a 4th in.
Wasn't no big thing, just hit it with my hammer a bunch.
(Fire does a lot of damage though ouch.)
Now I have the wall jump
It's heavy attack is now splitting the blade down the middle and cutting enemies like they're paper.
This game's pretty rad.
That is a terrible title
You're a terrible title!
that is the next boss after her yes
Mainly I want sure if she was second or he was.
Not bad for 18 bucks.
Being a Soulslike, there's a fair bit of freedom to the order in which you tackle bosses.
He seemed scary at first but once I figured him out it wasn't that bad:
But I also SUUUUCK at it.
