It's super unlikely this game just dies in a year. Blizzard doesn't just "let games die" and will bend over backwards to improve it.
Look at Diablo 3 and how criticized it was, and then look at the lengths Blizzard went to in order to turn things around. They didn't have to do this: Diablo 3 still sold a shitton and they could have written the game off and rested on the fat stacks of cash it brought in. Shit, dead games like Warcraft 3 are still getting minor patches to fix things, so if you are worried about a game's longevity then Blizzard is one of the safest bets out there.
They just patched Diablo 2. Again. They're kind of insane about legacy support.

you can still go and play Diablo 1 on battle.net if you want, too
Competitive mode was never gonna be good with the current player pool which already has trouble supporting quick play. We're a month and a half out from release, just gotta tolerate weak matchmaking until then.
I've been using one of the Viking Mercy skins since a single digit level (not sure which level but I'm sure it's sub-level 10) and I'm getting pretty tired of her Ult line. I have just over 1000 points that I could cash in for one of her devil skins just to look different. A lot of Mercy's are running the Viking skins and it would be nice to look different again.
so I keep forgetting the rules are all or nothing on competitive
feels like if we get past point A on Anubis, and then we hold them to not even capturing point A on defense, we should win.
I think that's just an extension of not wanting a stopwatch mode. So in the event that both teams win on attack, they don't want to just give the overall win to the team that won faster, or to just have a round end in the middle because a timer expired without the chance at overtime. On the flip side, if both teams lose on attack, they don't want that to work differently and give the win for being the better loser. So instead, both cases go to Sudden Death.
I'm not sure if that's better than stopwatch mode or not, but it definitely makes for some dramatic games.
I don't know if anyone else is watching the finals of the tournament this weekend, but the end of the 2nd map was pretty damn exciting. It was down to around 30 seconds left when the defenders went all Tracer to try to stall the cart.
They stalled it until there were 10-15 seconds left. However, the same thing happened on the next map and it worked. It was a pretty good final except for the last map, where the winning team (Cloud 9) crushed their opponent.
What makes Tracer better at the very end instead of throughout the game?
I would guess its cause you can stagger porting in and out and touching the payload so that it never really moves forward. And that she's so hard to kill in good hands.
This actually brings up a great point that I've noticed a lot on payload missions. Not enough people stand on the payload on defense. I have won so many payload attacks because the defenders are running after folks for kills or standing back and shooting and we just walk it in.
This is one of the main reasons I love Zarya and Mei on payload defense. They can stay on that thing for days with some decent support.

If all you're trying to do is stop the cart she gets from spawn to the cart the fastest and is the best at delaying and not dying for prolonged periods of time.
The team used six tracers blinking in and out repeatedly and in sequence to keep the cart stalled. That's a strat that can work when the cart is very close to a checkpoint, as the defender respawn distance is super short. The tracers weren't really trying to kill the offense, just delay them until they couldn't beat the time set by the tracer team.

But couldn't you say the same thing at any point in the game? Is it just the fact that the cart is close enough so you can always get someone on it?

Yeah, it's about the cart being close enough to reach in one set of blinks.
There's also the fact that it's not a hugely effective strategy, you'd generally much rather just kill the enemy team the normal way, I'd think. Tracer stalling is generally born of desperation.
So is the Battle.net shop the only place you can pre-order the vanilla version of the game? I wanted to go through Amazon to take advantage of my Prime discount but it seems you can only get the Origins and Collectors editions there.
I'm so hesitant to spend any currency because I know that the item I spend it on will be the thing that unlocks in the next loot box. That's the main reason I'm still using Lucio's base skin and haven't bought a Devil Mercy skin yet.
I got my first epic loot box in a while after 8-10 blues in a row and it was currency. BAH!!
A trap is for fish: when you've got the fish, you can forget the trap. A snare is for rabbits: when you've got the rabbit, you can forget the snare. Words are for meaning: when you've got the meaning, you can forget the words.
Oh wow. I'm watching Seagull's stream and he blinked over a pit, got knocked off by a Lucio, recalled into the middle of his blink across the pit, and fell to his death. It was beautiful.
I went with the Origin edition partially because with Prime discount it's only eight bucks more than buying just the game
Yeah I don't care too much about any of the Origins edition skins (and I don't play any of the other Blizzard games that gets perks from it), but for $8 why the hell not.
So I finally got enough currency to get a legendary skin. And I thought I was going to get the Junker skin for D.Va. But I took a look at how often I actually played her, and who I was playing more and it turns out i've been playing Genji the most in an attempt to not suck with him.
As I feel like i'm finally reaching the point where i'm not a hindrance using him, I decided to get his new Legendary Skin since it's amazing.

Wishlist: throw me a bone to make me feel like I'm actually progressing towards unlocks, even if it's just 5 Overbucks per game I finish or something.
This is my biggest beef. I had 995 currency for quite awhile just because I never got any currency or duplicates. I imagine eventually after playing enough most of what you'll get are duplicates so you can spend the currency on the stuff you don't have. But man getting sprays is the most frustrating thing. I have little to no interest in sprays whatsoever.
Being able to at least visibly work towards something would be awesome.

Huh double tracer, double winston, double lucio for both teams.
Wasn't expecting that but makes sense for that map.

Also first legendary box in like 10 levels and it's currency. Fuck you Blizzard!

I firmly think the legendary money should be removed and should always be a skin
