The Guiding Principles and New Rules
document is now in effect.
Go is an ancient Chinese board game of board control, usually played on a 19x19 board between white and black pieces. The rules are simple. You want to control territory and capture your opponent's stones. You capture stones by surrounding their stone on 4 sides. If their pieces are next to each other, you have to surround them on all sides (not diagonals) to capture. You don't actually get points for the spaces your stones are on, so the less stones you have to place in your territory the better.
That's a crappy explanation, but it's basically all the rules. Go look it up on wikipedia. Instead lets watch a really weird, complex match that came from those simple rules.

The guy who won this match is a Go grandmaster, and just lost 4 out of 5 games to our future Google robot overlords.
And here's 45 minutes of explaining wtf just happened in that match:

A trap is for fish: when you've got the fish, you can forget the trap. A snare is for rabbits: when you've got the rabbit, you can forget the snare. Words are for meaning: when you've got the meaning, you can forget the words.

If you establish a stable board state that guarantees certain stones cannot be captured, you have "made a life" for those stones.

Well now I know what I'm doing with my friday night!
but on the other hand Chess has a clear and simple winstate - if the king is in danger and can't get out of danger the game is over - meanwhile in Go I played it for a little bit and never felt like I got a handle on how you know when the game is over and what territory belongs to what player
especially not matt murdock
That was already the joke!
It's me.
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Now, I shall go fuck off for a month and catch up on sleep.
Glorious socialist Europe

Yeah at least once you learn the moves in chess it's not too difficult to start understanding why you lose
Go is like... wait what just happened... I'm getting my ass kicked? heeeeeelp meeeee
yeah
apparently the game used to be played until no-one could make a move, so the board would be completely filled or only have single spaces empty.
That took way to fukkin long and the players realized that you could determine which spaces were already won by a color so you could not bother playing there any more and count all the spaces as points in the end, hence today's kind of complicated territory system
fuck up once and you break your thumb / if you're happy at all then you're god damn dumb
that's right we're on a fucked up cruise / God is dead but at least we have booze
bad things happen, no one knows why / the sun burns out and everyone dies

YESSSS YESSS YESSS U DID IT
At a minimum, it would be able to run the PSVR headset with the breakout box. I don't see them going all the way to useful 4K in games, but maybe everything will finally run at 1080p60?
I played Go against cadlincwalk a few years ago without either of us really learning the rules.
I'm picking up lots of captures and the game seems to be going my way, except that we're filling up nearly the entire the board because we don't understand eyes or territory.
She puts down a single stone that, because we had been filling our own eyes and our own territories, captures ~90% of my stones and nearly half the board.

I'm impressed that Comcast has actually joined the 21st century. I can stream almost every channel from my cable package on my computer away from home.
