Do you guys mind if you could help me with the curses conquest? I just have one more conquest to go until I get my stash tab.

EDIT: Thanks to @Naphtali and our group, I was able to do this conquest. Finding the bounty took too long.

Yeah, Blizz needs to cut out some of the layered RNG.

I hope if they bring the cursed chest conquest back they revisit the spawn timer for a number of other cursed chest events. It doesn't have to be possible with all of them, since some of them do spawn mobs types that would likely make them extremely frustrating to do for certain builds, past a certain spawn speed (caveat being, we're assuming the player is using what would be considered reasonable* gear). I mean that would be so much better if at least 1/5 of the cursed chests were a viable option, I think ideally 1/3 of the cursed chests should be viable.

*reasonable would be based on what would be considered adequate gear, PG lvl and gem lvl, at a point in time, when it's expected for average players to complete the achievement. So probably not full ancient out, with perfectly rolled gear, lvl 50+ gems and some infusions on the ancients.

I also want them to take another look at the state of GRs. I like to run with people because it's more fun, but I don't like how the fix to raekor's being obnoxious to play with like 2 seasons back, was to essentially give everyone else a raekor's like build that rushes forward only seeking elites. Granted Blizz has kind back themselves into a corner because some of why this is going to be hard to fix, is that some of the design elements work against each other. Once stuff become almost mandatory, aka get the right build to keep up with a speed rush without dying, the layered RNG becomes extremely frustrating. The other clash is it's really easy to keep very mobile, which completely fucks with progression gain setups for mobs. I think elites should be worth more than trash mobs, but I also think that trash in certain densities should be worth killing (I think that should factor in tile layout, which means moderate density in a narrow hallway should be worth clearing). Right now with the current meta, they'd have to boost the value of trash and it does give them much leeway, buff too much and we'll be back to the old problem of elites being ignored.

It would also be nice if they fix the issue of anemic maps, those are bullshit and I don't want to hear any excuses about them somehow encourage people not to dawdle because them become incredibly obnoxious when it's the whole damn rift up to RG spawn. Elites being incredibly close to entrances. I'd also like to so the pylon spawn system tweaked. I could love with regular rifts not spawning them in an optimal setup (aka two of the same pylon being incredibly close or two pylons that don't play well together being next to each other). For GRs, I think it adds in too much of a swing between things. I'd rather not find pylons almost back to back in a GR because it means I have a huge swing in power (assuming it's isn't power & conduit next each other) and then I'll have a long drag in the GR.

What kind of HP will I be encountering on mobs past 70? My build right now is just crucifying mobs and elites at 50, especially with my (up to) 30b shield glare damage and 5-8b shield bash. My only issue is my allres is pitiful and my number of ancient pieces is ridiculously low, but that's RNG.

Having an Ess of Johan and an AOE like that means trash mobs melt quickly and even become a viable way to progress in GRs, but I imagine their HP will continue to get larger and I'm just curious what I should be aiming for.

I do solo grifts, by the way.

So yesterday was productive for pet farming. I got my zombie unicorn and my baby cow queen.

Also started working on lvling up my paragon lvl past 800. Right now I'm trying to burn down my stockpile of 200+ GR keys, since I've never done that and I had a shit ton of them from the first season that GRs existed. I'm lvling up the lowest ones first on GR 65. I figure I should make a decent dent in my stock pile and by the time I need to go past 65, I should have got an okay number of paragon lvls, which means more str on thornsader and maybe that will make consistently farming on GR 70 feasible. I could do it, but my damage is at a point, where if I get an anemic GR or super pain in the ass elites, I could end up missing the timer. Really don't like how I'm seeing cased on GR 65 where I'm between 4:20 ish to 9+ minutes to spare. Most of that is a case of shit density, but sometimes mob types or affix combos play a role.

I'm also spending shards on the wizard setup for farming to see if I can get her some more ancient pieces. I'm still working on the best setup for making it an efficient farm build. I'm starting to wonder if I should shift some paragon points and pick up the resource pool increase, since my tal wizard tends to burn through arcane power really quickly (possible i need to just get more CDR and RCR). I'm also having issues with it being squishy, I get the feeling I probably should have more hp to make one of the defensive passives better. I'm currently forgoing the bracer power that gives a speed boost for goldwrap's power in the cube, since I have boon socketed. It's really not an ideal solution, since it doesn't solve the problem when finding act bosses or RGs after everything else is dead. I know more paragon points in int will help get me more toughness, but I'm wondering if some of the ancient pieces should get some vit infusions. The other option is to also run with one of the defensive gems. As for gems, I think I probably should go with boon and wreath for farming purposes, gold has a use now and both provide speeds boost. Frankly, since I don't intent to take this wizard into GRs every again, I have another wizard that I probably should gear out in firebirds or something. I could make this wizard the ultimate farmer for gathering gold and death's breath, while also just getting her to a point where I could switch gem of ease and a custerian in the cube because if it's going to farm for stuff, it might as well get me more exp.

I kinda wish they had another cube recipe for sets. Like, take this item slot of one set, turn it into the same item slot of a random set that character can wear. Bonus points if the original set item is possible in the cube (i.e., put in firebird shoulders, get firebird shoulders), as well as some of the shitty non-crafted sets (I'm looking at you, Blackthorne).

So I had the worst time playing D3 yesterday. Wife and I were playing our hardcore seasonal characters since we are done with the season Journey and wanted to make sure we could help power level anybody here with a hardcore character. Plus it was fun to grind for different gear and a different play style than our dual DH runs. We both got complete sets for our characters and started pushing the difficulty up. T7 was farmable and we pushed up higher. Then the nightmare hit. Laser Elite, small rooms, and we barely escaped with our lives. I swing around to see if the coast is clear, no lasers showing up so I decide to enter and snag the globes. As soon as I enter the room I'm on top of a laser and a minion is blocking the doorway out. Next thing I know I'm looking at a You Are Dead screen in disbelief as my wife looks over since it says that I left her game on her screen. We both swore that her Monk would die before my Crusader but it didn't end up that way.

On the plus side we found out that she can power level a Hardcore Seasonal character now. Also I had three pieces of Akkans (sp) in my box for another attempt.

So if anybody needs a power level hardcore seasonal character and sees Zerospace online in the PAF channel you are welcone to send a message asking for one. If you don't hear a reply you might have to send another since she might be running a rift and miss your message.

Took me a bit to realize what you want is to convert a set piece of one set into a set piece of some other random set the character can use. I think would settle for just being able to one piece of a two piece set and convert into a set piece for some other two piece set, with the option being lucky and having an option of getting the other piece of the set. I hate that the devs over rely on RNG, but Kadala is somewhat useful for getting set pieces and we do have the cube recipe to convert set pieces into other pieces of the same set, but that doesn't work with 2pc sets and many of the 2pc sets are awful to farm for.

    Bestsuni

Yeah, for whatever reason, Blizz decided it would be awesome if the game didn't render stuff around corners or in other rooms, with certain terrain setups. I have one on or more occasion gotten gibbed because I thought either all the mobs were dead or that their lingering affixes or all gone, only to find nope, it's still there. It's particularly bad when it comes to arcane sentries.

I saw a Uliana's video on reddit and oh man... that remains the coolest build I never want to go back to.

That said, it's an interesting example of how insane the top of the leaderboard can get, besides just needing so much paragon.

    - Get Mythic Rhythm EP on a ton of gathered density
    - Hit Epiphany ONLY after halfway through CoE-Holy
    - Trigger Oculus Ring after halfway through CoE-Lightning (too early and it'll fade before Cold)
    - Refresh Assimilate stacks and get to 100% Endless Walk (without dying!) during CoE-Physical
    - Dash into the Oculus proc and SSS on CoE-Cold

The top ranks have to nail this rotation repeatedly to clear it in time.

I like Uliana's. I dislike that kind of micro management just to clear the top levels.

Uliana's can still clear up into the high 70's without that nonsense, thankfully.

Mythic Rhythm is the only thing that makes it really annoying. All top burst builds have to watch their CoE rotation these days before they unleash hell. f

The one build I'll for sure never try is the DH LoN Shu FoK setup. Won't work on consoles to begin with (thanks again nephalem glory globes!) but just ugh. Playing 90+ GRs at 25% health constantly, having to wait for your CoE to line up and your FoK stacks to be maxed before you attack. Do not want.

Hey, so, I've never really been 'hardcore' into Diablo, I mostly just played with my wife, finished the main quest, and shelved the game. I've recently gotten the hack & slash itch again, so I've decided to screw around a bit with Reaper of Souls. I have a few questions...

    What is Adventure Mode?

What is a season, and how do I get a set?

Adventure Mode is the other, less restrictive way to play the game (as opposed to story mode). Instead of having to do the story quests in order with checkpoints and restrictions on which areas you can currently visit, Adventure Mode offers free choice of any location in the game and offers non-story-based quests to do. It's generally considered as the way more fun way to play the game.

Seasons are 3-month-long events where everybody participating starts with fresh characters/stashes/paragon levels. At the end of the season, all seasonal progress is rolled into your non-seasonal progress to make way for the next season. Each season offers unique achievements to pursue, unique character portraits to achieve, and a permanent new stash tab for carrying more equipment. When playing in seasonal, there are a few relatively easy to hit goals that grant you one 6-piece set (in the form of three "Haedrig's Gifts", which give you 2 pieces of a single set for the class you open the gift with). Beyond that, just play the game and get loot.

Adventure mode is "do whatever you want" mode. It's unlocked by completing Act V. Once unlocked you have access to bounties and rifts, and a few other goodies as well. Campaign storyline quests are not available in this mode.

Seasons are the equivalent of ladders from D2. They're separate from normal play. Separate stash, gold, paragon points, gear, etc. A recently added feature to seasons is Rebirth. You can take an existing normal character and rebirth them as a seasonal character. That way you're not having to constantly delete characters to make room to create new seasonal characters. Your seasonal characters start fresh at level 1(that includes rebirthed characters). Any gear they were wearing will be mailed to the non-seasonal side of your account(30 days to pick that up). You can compete on the leaderboards if you wish. You can also work to complete the season journey which is a series of tasks divided into chapters. Each chapter is more challenging than the previous and rewards new portraits and sometimes other things as well(pets, pennants). Extra stash tabs are a recent addition to season journey rewards that you can work towards. At the end of the season everything you've accumulated....achievements, gold, paragon points, characters, your stash, etc, are rolled over to the non-seasonal side of your account. Items in your stash are mailed to you(have 30 days to clear them out). After 30 days they're deleted. Seasons are not available for console users.

Each season you are also rewarded with bags known as Haedrig's gift upon completion of certain objectives; these being getting to level 70, killing a boss on Torment 2 difficulty(which one rotates each season), and completing a level 20 solo rift. The bags will show up in the mail as you complete the objectives. Each bag contains two pieces of gear. Which gear slots are filled is determined by which objective was completed. Which set they belong to is determined by the character that opens the bag. Which sets are available will rotate each season and you may only obtain these rewards once each the season.

    Neat! What's a solo rift?

  • KlatuKlatu Aussie Aussie Aussie Oi Oi OiRegistered User regular
Rifts are part of Adventure mode. They're instanced runs where the objective is to kill enough creeps to spawn the rift guardian. Once the RG is dead, he drops loot, you close the rift and repeat.

One of the objects the RG drops is a Greater rift keystone. With the keystone you can open a greater rift (purple). Inside the greater rift no mobs drop money or loot except the RG, but he usually drops pretty good stuff (usually). Greater rifts are where the real difficulty in the game lies. Up to GR60 is generally easy, it gets less easy up to 70 and after 70 (imo) it gets much harder.

Most classes this season can accomplish their GR20 solo without too much drama.

Also @Carnarvon, the people in the PA clan are good eggs. If you decide to fire up again and start a seasonal character - which I suggest you do as there's no real drawback for you doing so - any one of us that are on can usually help with power leveling a character for you, or if you decide to do it the old fashioned way to get a feel for game play, once you hit 70 we can help with gearing you up via rifting and whatnot.

There are some new legendaries that really kick ass.
But a single legendary is not the strongest shit ever.
There are ancient legendary items that are the same effect but much better stats.
Then, once you get the Cube and you can essentially equip two legendary sources (well, the orange text special effects at least) then you start getting into the broken shit.

Edit: I like the Light of Grace for a source on my ice wizard. Makes it so Ray of Frost pierces instead of stopping at one enemy. Using the Black Ice rune is just sick when facing a big group of enemies.
Not so great for super high level fights, but a lot of fun up until T6 or T7.
Edit edit: I really should pull him up and get him some gear in the cube, or some sets or something...

The etched sigil does appear in some high end builds.
But set bonuses are king in D3 at the moment, so once you hit 70 and start getting those, lean into their strengths.
The wizard set that's given is pretty powerful, giving a large multI plier to several skills. There are 2 high end builds around it, but both require extra drops as well.

You can roll chance to Stun/Freeze on certain armor pieces as a secondary stat. It actually adds up high enough to where it's somewhat reliable, depending on your build (Whirlwind Barbs for example, since they attack REALLY damn fast).

You can outfit your follower with a Wyrdward as well, and that will also help.

It depends on your class/build for the most part. Like Wizards can get away with it easy because of how Halo of Arlyse functions. That's gonna be firing off Frost Novas like crazy, providing super high uptime on APDs. It also works the same way for Raekor Barbs.

Most builds that use APDs use them because they lack good Bracers for their builds, and/or lack defense for their builds.

Wizards use Arlyse to mass freeze, which counts.
Unfortunately this is also why you see so many wizards crumble to ranged/magic attacks, because arlyse only fires on melee attacks.
And diminishing returns on multiple freezes are also really dangerous.

I have craptons of CDR. I have a flawless royal diamond in a Leoric's Crown. A single tossed boulder refreshes everything. It's the fact that the elites are hyper-aggro and run into my Leap's Earthquakes. For some reason, if they walk into a Leap Earthquake without being hit by the Leap itself, it breaks the ability to perform the combo. At least, that's what it looks like to me.
