Even as someone who was not into Homestuck at the time I heard about the joke due to being on Tumblr at the time. It was a huge deal on there and I saw a lot of people being super shitty and using it to harass others. I actually looked at the comic to try to get some idea of what was happening, which to be honest didn't help that much. When I finally did learn what was happening it made me really see Andrew Hussie in a bad light. It basically made me write him off as an asshole for a very long time.
While he admittedly did a decent thing by removing it because it was being used to harass people, it really would've been for the best if he had given more thought to how it would be received, and changed it before it went out.
imo Trickster mode is great and creators aren't responsible for shitty fan behaviour. (Especially if they take action to try and stop shitty fan behaviour like Hussie did. Eg: MLP creators response to bad fan behaviour vs SU creators response to bad fan behaviour.)

they're not responsible for shitty fan behavior but they sure as shit are responsible for when they pettily snipe at their fans for having the audacity to criticize their work
Me and Ashley continue exploring Dave's um... unfortunate home life, as he sifts through piles upon piles of plush puppet ass to build an assortment of deadly replica anime weapons to challenge his Bro with, accidentally participating in puppet snuff films along the way. It's not all sex dungeons and criminal neglect though, as John takes some inspiration from famed Night Court actor Harry Anderson to unlock the secrets of SBURB's punchard-based crafting system, and it's a good thing because it looks like he'll need it soon! Oh, and also? As of this episode, Ashley is OFFICIALLY A HOMESTUCK FAN. WELCOME TO THE DARK CARNIVAL, SISTER
@MsDapper remember when the biggest mystery of the comic was what the deal with Jade GG was
the much scarier metric is that we recorded part 6 on April 25
which means we've read ~112 hours of homestuck in the past 65 days
that's nearly a rate of two hours per day, and assuming we're sleeping 8 hours a night represents slightly more than 10% of our waking lives in the past two months
When you get to the Act 6 stuff, you should adopt the latter-day Homestuck release schedule. Just huge dumps of audio every so often. 12 hour podcast? Sure, why not.

I think the updated version works well enough as a silly callback to jade's dancing fruits

Oh God, yes. So much shit happens right after that, it's just nuts.

The "Big gif" is actually less than half of the maximum gif filesize permitted here.
Also, I finally found an old video someone made of Calliope.
Been meaning to find it for a while, but couldn't figure out the right search criteria until now.

Last night we did session 31
http://www.audioentropy.com/
If we assume the worst case scenario that every recording session is 7 hours long (which is definitely not true), then we have 25 untouched sessions
7 * 25 is 175 hours
If we start doing 2 hour episodes with act 3, then in the worst case scenario we have 88 episodes recorded
Which isn't even 2 years! The outlook isn't as bad as we've been thinking!

But yeah, that isn't as bad as we thought.

nah if anything Speed is the demon
Always racing, chasing, and podcasting after someone
You're getting better at these music choices you where already great at

I made that!
It was my first mashup.
Yeah, Squiddles Campfire is one of my favorite songs ot come out of a homestuck album.
oh dang i forgot you made it! I just remembered it being a cool mashup

i got bored and decided to do the math more accurately
assuming file size roughly correlates to file length, which both makes sense and seems to be true empirically, an hour of recording is about 300 MB
sessions 7-31 add up to 32100 MB
or about 107 hours
divide that by two, and there's enough material for 53 2 hour episodes and 1 1 hour episode
that's not so bad at all!
The rest of part 6 adds up to about 1400 MB, or 4.333 hours
so toss another two episodes onto that and add the remainder to the 1 hour episode and we're caught up with where we currently are by August 2017

Out of curiosity, is there a reason for switching to 2-hour episodes rather than, say, releasing 2 1-hour episodes a week?
either would work i guess
the main thing is we want to get these dang episodes out the door

Posting half an hour early because this is the big one. Good luck Lauren.
