In other news, I super don't feel like working and just had a long gchat conversation with my friend about whether a Ditto transformed into a Jewish pokemon could ritually get called up to read from the Torah or would he have to convert (the latter, we decided).
What's the logic behind this?
if a ditto transforms into a Raichu that had a bar mitzvah, but the ditto didn't have a bar mitzvah, is the ditto Jewish?

but while it is the raichu
and it has access to the moveset of the raichu
as well as its body
but not its mind?
like, it still thinks differently
well...the moveset contains the sum total of a pokemon's knowledge
but of course it can choose to use the moves differently
and clearly is not identical, because you can have both pokemon fight each other and do different things
so I would say no

Oh my bro went to a purim service this morning so people were in costume, and they got called up to read the torah by the name of their costume, so a pikachu was summoned to the torah in hebrew. The cantor looked to my friend to help come up with a with a reasonable parent name for the pikachu (cause you get summoned by name bat parent name v parent name), so my friend chose Raichu, so that's why we ended up talking about it.
(even though statistically a pikachu's parents are probably pikachu v ditto).
