Speaking of Bayonetta, is it worth playing if I skip all the cutscenes? Every time I start to play, I enjoy the combat, but when people start talking I just want to turn it off forever.
I mean, the combat is really good. But there's also a lot of minigames and other weird bits beyond the cutscenes. So you might not like that if you don't like the style of the game.

Yeah I forced myself through the first as I enjoyed the gameplay but couldn't have cared less for the story or how it was told, what little I did pay attention too seemed gibberish. I still enjoyed it, but not enough to make me rush in to Bayonetta 2 (I finished the first about a year ago and it's sat unopened) . Not being invested in the story did impact on the effectiveness of some of the set pieces.
I got the double pack. I might just skip to 2 and just then sell it.

The first Bayonetta's story is very confusing and perfunctory, but it houses some excellent cool moments, so ya should suffer through it, since the whole point of a character action game is cool moments...
Bayo2's story retroactively fixes the first and actually makes it coherent, it's pretty impressive!
Also I would totally cancel Breath of the Wild for Bayo3. But only the Wii U version. Cause I have doubts the hardware is up to it, and maybe the NX will be better equipped to match the ambition.
Oh brilliant

Nintendo is waiting to reveal the NX until it is too late for MS and Sony to feasibly copy their gimmick on the PS4 Pro and Xbox Scorpio. I think the Pro hardware has to be a done deal but MS still has plenty of time to finagle some half assed copy of NX gimmicks into the Scorpio.
If NX really is a sub-XB1 level handheld/console hybrid, like the rumors are pointing too, I really doubt MS will drop what what they are doing with the Scorpio to copy it.

I think maybe they're more worried about Sony copying them, considering the cross-play stuff Sony already does with PS4/vita/pstv and such.

I see a lot of people assuming that the NX will be more "powerful" than the Wii U but I'm not so sure it will be. I get the feeling that people are going to write off the NX when it releases and doesn't conform to what they think it should be.
I just want a new full Animal Crossing I can play on mah TV in HD

That's all you had to give me with the Wii U, Nintendo, and I might still actually have that console, but instead you announced amiibo nightmare party and here we are

I mean, if it ends up being weaker than the Wii U, I'm pretty comfortable writing it off as a home console.

I don't think it will be weaker than the Wii U, but I have heard it is weaker than the XB1 & PS4. And that is completely ignoring the Pro and Scorpio.
And I don't know why Sony would drop what they are doing to chase the handheld market, again. Vita flopped and so did the PlayStation TV. Right now, Sony seems to be concerning themselves with VR.
If the NX is as powerful as the PS4/One, it still doesn't matter because of the new iteration models that are coming. So it's back to square one.
I don't necessarily mind that Nintendo feels like a generation behind, as long as they're always moving forward (and twirling, twirling, twirling) into the future. If this rumoured handheld-with-delusions-of-grandeur is the way they're going, it could end up feeling like a step back from the Wii U, or a stop gap til their next 'real' console.
the relative "power" of the console matters in a) developers want to put games on the system b)the system itself is seen as something that will be consumed, and c)differentiates from the two existing brands that have been out for years now.

Eh, I don't expect those 1.5 consoles to sell nearly as well has the vanilla versions.
On top of that, apart from first party devs, I cannot envision a world in which publishers will dump extra funds to make full use of the 1.5 hardware. They'll spend enough to meet minimum requirements to get the game released.
A Capellan's favorite sheath for any blade is your back.
The Wii U not only started a generation behind, but it's four years old now. You can get low-end smart phones more powerful than the Wii U.
I have full confidence that the NX'll be more powerful than the Wii U, even when being played in handheld mode. The really mystery is how powerful it will be when docked.
I just want NX to be powerful enough so that we don't have the atrocious pop-in we saw in Breath of the Wild at E3. If it's less powerful than PS4... meh.... after the disaster of Wii U I've completely written off Nintendo consoles. I'm looking at NX as a successor to the 3DS.... in which case sub-PS4 power can still be pretty good. As for third party support, I think most developers have written off Nintendo too so the power concern really don't matter.

That was my main concern, yeah. Breath of the Wild seems to really struggle on the Wii U, so I was really hoping the NX is significantly beefier so it could run no problem on it.
That said, we're still a way off from release so hopefully they can squeeze more juice out of the Wii U by then. I'd even take a hit to the draw distance if it'd stop the pop in...
Various signs point to preliminary production for the console being underway. We simply must wait now, as we have been.

There are so many conflicting rumors floating around right now that I think even Nintendo is getting confused. I can say that I heard X but that does not make it any truer until we know for sure. Amoungst all the floating turds are probably some cool drift wood but until morning comes we should all keep our mouths closed lest the unthinkable happen. AKA don't drink the kool aid until we know the flavor and color.

Fuuuck. I just realized that they've mentioned Pokemon but an Animal Crossing game I can play on the big screen sounds heavenly.

I mean, I know worry about being copied is the reason, but at this point with that rumored design it's a very, very silly reason.

If you're talking about Remote Play then it's a bit silly considering Remote Play dates back to 2006 with the PS3 and PSP. Don't really think Sony copied their own idea from Nintendo.
Don't think of the NX as an underpowered console if rumors are true.
Think of it as an adequately powered and speced handheld compared to the competition for fucking once.
Ideally, the NX will be an adequately powered handheld console when played that way, and a slightly underpowered but still very pretty home console when docked.
More realistically, it will be an adequately powered handheld console when played that way, and a noticeably underpowered but at least inexpensive home console when docked.
Switching gears, let's assume that the NX is a hybrid portable/docking station gaming system. Let's go with carts for games along with downloadable options since they've already gone that way with the 3DS/Wii U. Putting the power level at around XB1/PS4 on the dock and slightly lower portable, what would you be willing to pay?
$299? $249? $199? Where do you think it will land? I'm guessing around $249, but they could go super aggressive at $199 to sway people on the fence and feel better about a reduced power level. Maybe they go with $199 and $50 for the dock sold separately. Perhaps a bundle including a downloaded game or two for $249?

Yeah, it could be those horrible Mario fruit drinks from the 90s. Nobody wants to drink those :P

The ones that came in those little stubby cans? I loved those!
Edit: These?
Yes, those things were awful :P I drank them too, because they had Mario on them.
