Which one did you dislike? I haven't played the TMNT game that got pulled the other day, nor the Transformers game that looked cool
If you're honestly interested, Vanquish (and that's before getting into the whole stupid-as-balls Top Gun Cold War in space drama plot, which I deliberately ignored). Actually watching people play it (well) was far more enjoyable than the actual experience of playing it (and coming from a fan of punishingly difficult Xbox third-person action games like Ninja Gaiden), and the experience came off as half game/half seizure-inducing laserlight show after the game took of the training wheels (which I feel was very soon).
However, I'm also one of those people who flat-out refuses to play Smash Brothers with more than three other people. Five and over goes from "difficult and mildly unpleasant for a 3D fighting genre fan" to "Jesus Christ I feel like I'm about to be stabbed in the eyeballs how the fuck do I track all the shit?" Despite being a completely different genre, that's the unpleasant feeling that comes back to me.
I wasn't a huge fan of Metal Gear Revengeance but, again stupid overwritten plot aside, it was a much more manageable, pleasant-to-play game. I wouldn't say I disliked it, but I never finished it. And I've generally heard that Bayonetta 2 was their magnum opus but, like the vast majority of people I know, I never played it--the main Wii U gamers I know never bought the game either.

Scalebound potentially cancelled and seems like Crackdown 3 will just never happen.
I would be skeptical of Cuphead but they give just the smallest amount of an update to let you remember its a thing.

Ah see I disliked the demo for Vanquish but, after playing the game at a buddies I really enjoyed the pacing. But to each their own. I recently found out from the same friend that the old PS2 Nightmare Before Christmas game was made by the same folks.
The more I hear about it, the more it sounds like it's 2016 was a bad year for Platinum--TMNT and two bad Star Fox games, which was the entirety of what they did--that I just hadn't heard of.
Nier looks like it's shaping up to be quite good, but maybe Microsoft saw Scalebound going the same way as everything they did in 2016 and cut their losses...

IDK, apparently Nier's narrative is sliding toward players adjusting the free camera to look up the protagonist's skirt because why not? Whether or not they will A) cap the camera angles so you can't do that, or be consumed by this "controversy" remains to be seen. So... I dunno how well it'll do.
Odd that Scalebound died, but then again if you go by the rabble that came with every presentation that they did on it, it's not surprising either.

eh, demos have issues and i believe they've altered the model to fix that issue. at least they caught it early unlike the up skirt shots in Watch_Dogs 2. i wouldn't read anything massive into it.
hopefully we get a better of idea if why MS has pulled the plug on Scalebound in the future. considering how much they pushed it as being a key part of their line up i'm guessing that they didn't take the decision lightly.

Looking forward to State of Decay 2, hopefully they got rid of that "Random Event Generator" they activated when you saved and turned the game off.
Basically it punished you for logging out of the game.

Is there a Nier controversy? I'd heard that 2B will smack the camera away if you try to take a peek, so I tried it and she did. Gave me a chuckle, and then I continued playing the awesome demo.
Everyone has a price. Throw enough gold around and someone will risk disintegration.

Stop logging out of the game with your group in a bad state! :P
The issue with the mechanic was that it was bugged at launch and resulted in situations where things would just get out of hand too easily. The "too many hordes/infestations bug" as it were. It would snowball before the offline simulation kicked off though. But yeah, looking forward to SoD 2.
I wouldn't really classify the camera thing as an issue though. The problem with Watch Dogs 2 was the person didn't have an understanding of how the terms of service worked for the social media bit, imo. That was his/her own stupidity. But... yeah, gonna leave that be.
Skull, if you do it on a ladder or something it doesn't work? IDK. I don't have the demo, just been reading about it.
edit: also, using the camera to try and get an upskirt with the Player character reacting to you doing it was an achievement in another game, Lollipop Chainsaw.

Oh, I dunno. I only tried it the one time to see if it was true.
I got that Lollipop Chainsaw achievement too... I think it was called "I swear, it was an accident!" I didn't do it deliberately though! It happened during battle...

Honestly as someone who had been initially pretty hyped for the game, the E3 gameplay left me feeling lukewarm so maybe its for the best.
I also wonder if corporate meddling was involved cause the game looked liked it was gonna be fully SP at first and the MP felt kind of tacked on.

It sound like a substantial improvement over Bayonetta's tendency to jam the camera in the titular character's crotch (and ass) during the game's "plot heavy" moments.
Granted, I'm one of those wimps who's much more put-off by seeing someone's modeled intestines slide out of them after chainsawing them in half (thanks, Gears of War 4) than by seeing the protagonist's underwear after maneuvering the camera. So Platinum's penchant for short skirts isn't one of their things that bothers me.
Ripping a guy's skull out to suck his spine juice, slightly more. Though at least in Revengeance it was all so unbelievably goofy that it wasn't disturbing.
Crackdown 3 is almost certainly getting the Zelda treatment where it was intended for the old generation, but got delayed long enough that it'll be a launch title for the next "generation" (or in this case, next half-generation)
Gears just came out last year and Halo is on a 3 year cycle, so Microsoft is short on a big-name action games to show off the Scorpio. Given how they were touting how "THE CLOUD" would allow for crazy terrain destruction, I could see them just offloading that shit to the more powerful hardware now.
Shame about Scalebound, but it looked pretty rough at E3. I'm guessing they didn't want to delay it for another huge chunk of time to get it ready; especially if that would have put it's launch in a post-Scorpio timeframe.
I do wonder how close to competition it was. They were showing areas and items and a level up system along with bosses and such. Maybe feature creep went wild with the game and they couldn't reign it in enough to finish it. They could have always done a Halo 2 and just given us what they had and continued it on another game if that did well - very glad it did not go that way, but I am a bit upset this got cancelled. I was actually wanting this game. I love dragons and RPGs. Action variants are quite enjoyable too.

To add insult to injury, the TMNT game was pulled from the digital marketplace after just eight months.
I'd say the Star Fox games weren't bad though -- it just added up to a fairly mediocre package. But holy hell did they sell like ass.
Were the Star Fox games bad, or were they just not what people wanted in Star Fox games... at all?
Some people hated the motion controls, but I got used to them. My main issues were that the game was way short and didn't really add anything to the formula. At numerous points it felt like a re-skin of Starfox 64 with some extra vehicles thrown in. Plus the final boss was an annoying slog that lasted way, waaaaaay too long. Guard was better -- a quirky type of game we've never seen before that works well. But it seemed more like an indie game and didn't really make up for the main Star Fox being so short.
Yeah, which is why I like how everything that you can buy in the marketplace for Koei's "Arslan" game has a disclaimer that says: "THIS CONTENT MAY VANISH FROM MARKETPLACE WITHOUT NOTICE."
“I used to draw, hard to admit that I used to draw...”
I'm kinda over buying any Activision games, outside Destiny 2. Between the terrible ports for Ultimate Alliance and Prototype, MW being locked behind to Infinite Warfare, and the pulling of multiple games... I have lost pretty much all faith there. It takes talent to be worse on licencing than Capcom.

It's a nasty punch to a pretty light 2017 lineup, is the problem (though i'm one of the doubters for Sea of Thieves 2017).
Damn, I'm super bummed about Scalebound. I know it looked rough in the last trailer, but it still looked like it had a lot of potential. It wasn't the main reason I bought an XBO, but it was pretty high on the list. I hope Microsoft has some serious surprises lined up for E3 2017.
i'd be surprised if MS doesn't have one or two surprises for the latter half of the year. they're going to want to have something that will convince people to upgrade to Scorpio at the very least. also i wouldn't rule out a Forza announcement around E3. that was already releasing every other year prior to the Horizon games turning into an annual franchise.

The nontroversy over the new Nier is supposedly that they rendered an ingame anus but I think it's been debunked as a lighting engine issue.
