having a command grab seems to make offense a lot more...consistent? because you stop having to worry about timing your stuff to catch tech/late tech or jump out/delayed jump out and instead just force them to guess block/jump/dp

You do get blown up when people jump out of command grabs compared to normal grabs where you can recover in time to block usually, but yeah. Even then it insentivises just jumping in frame trap situations/on wakeup since people want that big blow up punish, and then they can't block and you just hit them with stuff.
I hit a couple of psychic fierce ASE's yesterday...nothing feels better than swatting Mika out of her drop kick, Birdie out of his dolphin dive, and Alex out of his dive.
Wish that strength was more useful, but we'll take what we can get.

I'm not sure I needed to see either of those games
ever again
it is shocking how quickly SF4 got dropped by the players/viewers
is there going to be a SF4 cooperation cup equivalent or does no one carry a torch for SF4
I'm really happy with the progress I'm making with Ken but
I think I'm going to give Alex a spin this weekend
We should run some long sets when you're free!
i'd like to actually. i haven't gotten to touch Alex yet, so i'll be taking a few days to get situated with him. but after that I'd love to run into your legs for hours!

Honestly. I felt all the hoopa around USF4 being cut was just folks complaining for the sake of complaining with maybe a handful actually giving a damn and given the current turnout for the game it looks like I was right.

I think it's just proximity to its 8 years of headlining.
I'm at least 2000 hours deep into watching/playing SFIV, and the familiarity has definitely started to breed contempt.
People will probably start to treat it like 3s by the time SFVI comes out.
was it announced as cut before SFV's release? there was a lot of anxiety about SFV before release, maybe it was going to be a game people didn't really like or wasn't going to last (like SFxT...), so it made more sense then to want to keep USF4 around
there is only 1 reason why SF4 didn't continue after 5, and that's because people weren't enjoying it enough to continue playing it. it's just that simple
melee is still going strong because people are obsessed with it and the depth/energy it has. it has survived two sequels

Nothing is better than HP ASE anti air into an EX Izuna drop
Possible HP ASE AA -> V trigger -> EX Izuna Drop/CA

The two biggest indictments of SF4 is that 1) the neutral game punishes the aggressor and 2) you basically needed specific setups/option selects to even apply okizeme which combined for a really fucking turtle-y boring game on the high level and a really frustrating game at the lower levels. If you didn't learn the right OSes, some matchups were barely playable. The emphasis on OS (even besides crouch tech) was massive.
Of course, there are other issues like lights being ridiculously good, which, combined with crouch tech, meant that characters who couldn't link out of lights were pretty much universally bad and characters who could get good damage/start their offense from lights had stupid risk/reward. Also, oki was bad until you learned the right setups/oses then oki became RIDICULOUS. Also, footsies tended to be very one-note. Most characters who needed more than 1 or 2 tools in neutral were bad, almost all the top tier had simple neutral.
I still like USF a lot, tbh! A whole lot! I'd be down to play some with anyone.
i think literally everyone can get weird crossups off of one of nash's vtrigger activation (my fav was ryu could oddly meaty crossup b.hk, cr.hp into vtrigger activation combo)
it seems to be the forward movement of alex's st.hk + forward movement from vega's ...ex FBA? giving the crossup. it'd be different if alex could just setup a crossup st.hk...

You could already do that with Ryu though.

But honestly I was never sure if folks were unsure of the game as much as unsure how well they would do in it competitively.
but alex has muscles
big beefy muscles

alex moves hella forward during stand hk and vegas move moved him forward
id say thats a dope interaction
