Had some friends over a few weeks ago for Smash Bros, and after the party was over we switched to SFV to show them my learnings. I beat them, then they asked that I only use one hand to make it fair, and beat them again.
To commemorate the beating they bought me some cool merch to crown me as the champion of our circle
i don't get rating Alex/the other grapplers so low
well, i do. it's a new game. still only 2 months out from release, and not even 1 month out from Alex releasing. he's so good at forcing people to use their DPs in this game that it almost turns uppercuts into a liability. against chars without dps/reversal options, i feel like i can bully them until the cows come home. when they do have a dp, i get excited because any blocked uppercut could mean 40% with Alex.
i used to think he was so weak on AA, but he really isn't. st.jab beats the fast jumps pretty well, and cr.hp can cleanly beat most of the slow jumpers and convert into big damage/pressure with knee follow ups. you can even reliably shut down more annoying/bullying air options like cammy hooligan/jumps with raw EX knee.
i feel like his only weakness is on his back, but that's so true for almost everyone. he has the buttons to fight on his feet, the AA to protect himself, and the oki to dismantle people on KD. i like grapplers, including Alex, to move up the tier list as the game goes on.
if you can react with lk/ex knee as AA you also get a good knockdown that gives you legit pressure, which is nice. really makes ex air knee worth it and makes up for the fact that non-ex knee can be dodgy
likewise with the dash under st.mp/powerbomb mixup you get off of st.lp antiairs. helps make up for the fact that the st.lp itself doesn't give much damage

yea, it's an easy buffer imo. a lot of people aren't willing to come close to alex so it's pretty safe to buffer it in footsie phases. i catch chun v-skill and such with it plenty. i've improved tremendously by advice given through @Euphemon re: the way you play alex @P10. he has so much momentum power in this game and his burst damage is so high that you can eliminate threats like dark necalli or pixel heroes before they ever happen.
Does any character get blown up harder by V-Reversals than Bison? It's so easy to react to his +frame normals and then he has no wake-up options.
it's one of the reasons why people expect Bison to drop off heavy. he is so prone to V-reversals on his big +frames normals. even worse, you can do it to his EX scissors and he basically wasted a bar. combined with no tick throw game to speak of it might be a grim future for the dictator
Don't drink with kp, he has the uncanny ability to summon the most repellant alcohols in existance

I don't know if I'll be there long enough to do any drinking - I don't necessarily want my wife to feel like I abandoned her with the baby the two days I can be there - but I'll definitely make a point to meet up with folks and say hi

Damn, 1k+ entrants for Pokken at Evo already.
Plus snake eyez, Fanatiq, Smug, and Wolfkrone all have great execution on pad.
I think it's a better 'check' move than jab. If you're good it will link to standing mk on counter hit.
