I mean if actual, substantial evidence that this button is causing problems for people isn't enough proof that it's a bad idea then I don't know what to tell you.
Granted, 99% of the time people ARE going to have the presence of mind not to press the big obvious joke button. The cruel thing about it though is that the 1% of people who don't are probably have a lot of other stuff going on in their minds at the time. In which case, it's much more likely to be a pretty damn important e-mail that they're sending and not just "oi m8 u up 4 drinks at the tav later rotflmao".
There isn't substantial evidence, there's a bunch of people on twitter putting up neatly cropped text and nothing else.
Nothing else? I assume you didn't actually take a look at the google customer service forums, where all the complaints are? Google did pull it and apologise for a reason.
I did, it isn't like those forums don't fill up with BS complaints all the time. Just looking at the threads on it, it became very clear that a majority of the people were complaining about it because other people might click on it, and they quickly devolved into just general hate of Google.

so your assumption, rather than going 'ok I guess this didn't work for some people', is to assume that a forum full of people are just lying for attention

If that's how you want to read it, cool.
thats not 'how I'm reading it', its what you said

I'm not making the assumption that people are lying. I went through the Gmail complaints forum, and the absolute vast majority of complaints in there are about how "someone else" might click on it thinking it was the right button. The horror stories where people talk about losing jobs or sending them on death notices show up on twitter and not the google forum.
I'm only talking about the Gmail forum because Anzekay brought it up as the place where the "substantial evidence" of it causing people significant issues apparently resides.

I really think radiologists should maybe not get in the April Fool spirit.
Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.
Think Geek has some winners this year including a Plombus and a white noise machine I am very interested in
baRPG looks legitimately fun to play
It is.
That one is fully functioning. Play testing was special.
"zip, i dunno what it is about you, but there's something very cat-like about your face. i can't really place it. you'd make a good mountain lion." Hail, Satan!Satans Post
CBC radio program IDEAS usually has some good april fools shows. Last year was an incredibly convincing episode about people who suffer from "Single Personality Disorder". A few years back they had one about a particular disease in the 1800's that caused people to go into deep hibernation, and get buried alive. Complete with experts on that particular era/place.
I wonder what they'll do this year. Even if I know it's a fake episode, they are very polished, convincing programs.
wanna get a grip on thor's hammer, know what i'm sayin?
Yo dude, and this is just my opinon I guess but
these are kinda super gross comments
like if I said that about a video of a swole lady I am pretty sure I would have been yelled at a bunch by now
like hey
dude is attractive as hell, sure
but I WANNA GRAB HIS DICK is kinda gross, duder
But... okay
I thought the whole deal with stuff like this is that swole ladies are harassed like every day, and that's why it's important that we don't encourage that behavior
I'm pretty sure Thor Bjornsson has never been sexually harassed by anyone, ever
(because he could palm them in his hand and throw them into the sun)
and so a stray comment about how you wanna ride Mjolnir isn't a huge issue

I think blank is more saying that objectifying anyone is wrong, regardless of gender or what have you. Which is definitely an argument I can respect and acknowledge as valid!
Edit: also I'm pretty sure accidental live burials were totally a thing back in the days, some Victorian graves actually had bells for the "occupant" to ring, via a pull chord, should they wake up and find themselves interred.
If he got watterson's approval on that it's amazing

Passing along a friend's story from this morning.
So, at work
We just moved into a new office and, for the first time in (maybe forever?) we have a microwave.
No one had used it yet, so one of the devs goes over with a looped MP3 of Chinese firecrackers and hooks up some speakers, the opens and closes the microwave, then starts it and starts the MP3
The CEO is like “What is that noise?” and guy says “Just my coffee…” and someone else is like “In a metal cup?” and he responds “Yea!” and the CEO just flips “ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME? GET IT OUT OF THERE."
While I reckon that it's not actually Watterson ("This isn't [...] particularly legal."), it's worth remembering that Watterson did draw some new comics with Stephen Pastis two years ago. I wouldn't completely rule it out.
I'm pretty sure I've seen most of those poses before, though, so maybe it's just a trace.

On a scale from one to utterly crushed, how sad are you that those aren't real?
Hell of a long game there, Weezer.
Hell of a long game.
I love this.
This could not be more directly targeted for me, holy shit.
Sad, though I did find and eat some of these yesterday

Played a little too straight in my book.
Well that would explain why it's so convincing!
