So I have a conundrum that I don't think I've ever had in a souls game...Where am I supposed to be GOING now?!

spoilers about what I've done. It's not far into the game, but still.
got to the settlement. made friends with a giant, became a sunbro and killed a tree....No idea where to go from there.

Am I meant to backtrack somewhere to find the path forward? I cant think of anywhere I haven't really explored.

Just make him the end boss already because I'm not even kidding when I say the only enemy it took more attempts for me to beat was Artorias.

I've died to this guy 8 times, no boss in DS1 or 2 (except Artorias) took me more than 5 attempts.

I was watching my wife play last night and she had it backed up to a cliff and knocked it over in three hits and promptly went over the cliff herself. Upon respawning the drops were at the katana sh***lord's spawn point.

NG+. My Black Blade and I are one. I am now leaning heavily on sword arts, but I still can't master the parry sword art. The lunge slash is fantastic.

Will restart as a Pyromancer sometime, but I want to find all sorts of new fun items in NG+.

Some end game boss soul weapons look really cool!

Took me 52 hours to beat it. Don't think I had to be done, I just felt like moving on. I'm googling to see if I beat all the bosses...

I wonder what level pvp will stop at. 125 usually, yeah?

    Meh, I like leveling.

FYI for anyone on invasions, it is based on weapon upgrade (the top one not your currently used) and level. I got invaded messing around with a +6 weapon when I had +10 ones, but he was bad enough that I had time to switch after some messing around.

alright so i opened up infusions

it doesn't seem like there's any reason not to infuse this time around? i just threw a heavy gem into my zwei and got a pretty significant, immediate scaling bonus out of it at the cost of a miniscule fraction of the base damage (<10 AR).

The third boss? Yeah it's a real low point. Hit the various tiny weak spots is awful design for Souls games, especially when the lock-on system only locks on to the main body and not the weak spots.

I sure love standing there trying to slash away at a tiny weak spot at head height with none of my attacks registering, including the overhead swing. The good news is it's an easy boss to not die to, so it just takes ages.

nope. i have a basically quality katana and with 40/40 there's no infusion (even the quality one) that raises the scaling high enough to offset the lowered base damage. i think maybe one gained me 4 damage out of 500.

    infusions are great for:
    minimum stats (no scaling infusions)
    elemental weakness (obv)
turning a weapon from lopsided to quality
turning a weapon from quality to lopsided

so if a weapon is already quality is the one reason not to infuse, i guess.

also i think they patched bleeding to actually work. my katana now causes bleeding when it never did playing 1.00 and 1.01. not sure about poison. i had tried shooting many enemies w/ tons of poison arrows or knives and never saw poison tick. will test now.

For people having trouble with Uchigatana guy: You can either roll in to his attacks or use space to bait him using the weapon art of the Uchi (the charge slice). It's very easy to predict it's coming, back step it (you don't even need to roll) and then punish him. He's completely vulnerable after he does it, and his AI wants to do it constantly if you keep some space.

The undead settlement is fucking huge. Been here for hours .

Lot's of hidden paths and back tracking short cuts too. Really great area.

Hey people who don't like playing online - look what I just found going through the options:

    75byshduro2m.jpg

I don't guarantee that this will be what you want, but it looks suspiciously like it?

It's not what they want. They want purely beneficial co-op /carrying, hints from messages and bloodstains, and zero threat of hostile invaders.

That's not entirely truthful. Some folks want that. Me, I just wanted to at the very least have the game give me an option in that doesn't require that I find a walkthrough for setting up Firewall whatevers. Just something quick and easy.

Which it looks like that exists, so yay!

And about controllers, I played through DS1 and am playing through DS2 with the Steam controller, and other than changing the camera controls on the right pad from a mouse-like input to a stick-like input 1:1, I so far kept everything else the same, though I'm considering mapping jump to the left grip as well as the stick button press. I also like X being mapped to both X and the right grip, a slight twitch and I'm healing or using whatever other item. Honestly my only problem thus far has come from DS2 reading directional inputs for selecting weapons, spells and items much more precisely, which sometimes means it switches the wrong thing, but it's only if I get a bit panicked.
Set the d-pad to radial without overlap and make sure require clicks is on. There's no reason whatsoever to use diagonals on the d-pad in Dark Souls, so by telling the controller to ignore them you can make each cardinal direction bigger and thus practically impossible to screw up.

The Steam controller works great with Dark Souls 3 just like it does with the other two games, but you need to change a few things from the ill-conceived default config. I think it must have been made by a Valve employee who isn't familiar with the game. Right off the bat you need to change the camera controls to mouse-like joystick so you don't lose camera control when menus or prompts are on the screen, replace that dumb touch menu with R3, and make the changes to the d-pad that I suggested to Kalnaur previously. Everything else is to taste. I wish I could share my config, but saving configs doesn't seem to work for me.

I was fighting Crystal Sage with a friend and then during the phase where it makes clones, suddenly there were just two clones that couldn't die and the real one wasn't there at all. Ended up just quitting the game and now I'm hoping it won't pop up again on the next attempt.

Started this game a bit. There's something weird about how it feels, I think. Can't quite put my finger on it though.

Currently on the undead settlement, I think. The area that looks like the Inquisition came home, complete with big female Inquisitor Mozgus giving fire hugs. Would love to find some more weapons, though. Maybe I missed stuff in the previous area, but I'm having to use the Uchigatana because that and a Lucerne hammer are basically the only weapons I have. Uchi dude was kind of an asshole, mind, took like four or five attempts to down him without either dying or throwing myself off the cliff by accident. Also, those damn knights on the walls - after two games, I'm finally going to have to learn how to parry, aren't I.
