How available are partner pins? This will be my first PAX and Im really interested in the Bethesda Pins. Will I need to go straight to their booth on Friday or will they be available throughout the weekend?

If they do what they did at Prime, Bethesda should be rationing their pins over all three days. But you have to there early each day to get it.

Or they might recognize the demand and make more than what they did at Prime.

Agreed, it's all gonna depend on how many they decide to make.

At this stage it's probably safe to say the show sets this year will be dedicated to non-core PA characters. Have my fingers crossed for Rex Ready coming to the AUS set.

Anyone wanna make a one-time Pinny Pal deal with me?

I need Dogmeat, Vault Girl and Half-Life. Will trade for like Aus 2016 pins.

    PM me if yes.

    All sorted, thanks :)

The Bethesda line at Prime was one of the hardest lines to get into. I tried booking it early and never made it. Grah.

This time it's at the bottom of the main escalator so pray to all the pin gods and cross everything you have. Then again, Pin traders are like way, way too nice and traded me for a vault boy so alternatively you could join in the generous spirit of PAX pins and hang out near the unofficial trading area.

While the Bethesda booth is near the main entrance, everyone is going to have to wait in the queue room, which is on the other side of the expo hall, so it's still gonna be a race to get to the Bethesda booth.

A little miffed that all 3 of the "go to our panel" pins are not only on the same day, two are during the same time period.

I don't suppose that anyone is being a pin proxy for east this year? Some of these East offerings are delicious

is anyone else super disappointed with the pins this year? Mostly paid pins that I have no interest in and the 3 panel pins are all frustratingly close in time. The Mafia 3 panel is directly after Make-a-strip so my likelyhood of getting there quickly to get a pin is slim anyways. In general I'm not even too huge a fan of how many of them look this time around. Witcher 3 and Nexon pins are (imo) the best looking pins from the partner pins and I'm even a bit disappointed with the show pins (LE will probably be very nice). Maybe it's just me?

Not just you. I haven't been collecting for very long, but I have to say that based on years prior, these are a bit lackluster to me. Not much really jumps out at me, but there are a few that would still be nice to have.

Don't need to catch them all but as a tabletop fan there are a number of pins I need. Good mix and I'm liking the non core characters as show sets this year.

I am liking how this batch of pins seems quite colorful compared to some shows -- glad that the partners are working with bigger palates and getting away from just the game/company logo... in black :o

I'm only a bit peeved that the panel for The Witcher pin is at the same time as the trading event too. Last year, I couldn't even get in line for the trading event.

I totally agree that the Vault Girl and Amplitude are probably the two best looking pins. I think the Witcher pin also looks pretty great. Not sure I'll really be rushing in to buy each of them for $15 a piece though. Honestly feel like I'll be better off trading for em. I have (no proof at all) a feeling that Besthesda will make more than enough of their pins and if I remember correctly Harmonix had a whole lot of extra's at the end of last east.

I didn't realize that was the trading event. Guess I'll be missing it this year. Seems shitty but I doubt it was intentional. I had more luck trading pins with other pinny pals waiting in regular lines than at any trading event so I'm not *too* disappointed.

At East 15, I believe Harmonix was selling the Rock Band logo pin. At Prime 15, it was free with demo, and they ran out before the end of the show.

It's possible that Bethesda could prefer the hype associated with a very limited/highly desired pin.

I would be very surprised if it was not intentional. Last year at East they had terrible issues with capacity for the staff trading event, with many turned away disappointed without getting in. I'm assuming this is an experiment on PA's part to see if this can help thin the numbers a little for staff trading.

  • KeroanKeroan Chicago, IllinoisRegistered User regular
Personally I love the Staff pins and I'm so, so geared up for PAX. What a bummer about the Witcher panel and the PA Staff Trading event. Staff pins are the only ones I collect 100% of and my rule is that I have to trade for them with the staffer and no one else. This is going to make it really difficult to decide.

  • quikblendquikblend CaliforniaRegistered User regular
both the orion and witcher one happen so close that i have to send another person to get it while im at the other panel, the things i do for pins

  • SolelronSolelron Wandering Gamer Cornelius, ORRegistered User regular
yeah..I think theyf inally found a way to knock the hardcores. even trading and pin groups will make this one difficult.

If they do the same thing at west, my pin group is gonna be very bummed (since I rarely/if ever) attend panels.

Witcher pins after the panel will cost you a trade. Staff trading after the trading event stays the same cost, just more effort making sure to spot them all in the wild :)

How does Bethesda handle the pins. Are they straight cash and do they limit number per day for purchase?

  • LazorzLazorz Tokyo, JPRegistered User regular
They take card but will almost certainly limit pins per person.

  • GerzzogGerzzog OhioRegistered User regular
What was the limit at prime?

Also I wanted to ask you guys if you have a preferred method for handling using cards at pax. In the past my banks and credit card companies freak out when I start spending lots of money out of state. Last year to try and avoid issue I even called them and told them in advance, but since the vendors are from all over the place one of the charges still made the card people call me. Do you guys have a way you avoid the hassles of your cards companies wigging out due to so many purchases from all over?

The limit was 2 per person per pin from Friday to Sunday, then it went down to 1 on Monday.

You might consider a prepaid charge card, maybe that would help you avoid all the calls. You can limit how much you want to spend as well.

Not a bad idea :) Limiting isn't a thing lol I have to buy for pin pals that tends to be the issue. Big chunks at each booth.

Understand the big chunks, thinking more of a daily allotment, in case something happens to the cards. Also if they don't work at all the vendors. Prepaid gift cards that I've used in the past sometimes weren't as easy to use.

Is your card from a big national bank, or a local/regional one? Chase is pretty good about stuff like this, only a couple of transaction out of many at paxes got flagged and declined -- and in those cases it was a quick 3 minute process to respond to their notification and validate that it was legit, and a repeat swipe worked fine.

Oy, the Bethesda pins are definitely going to be ones I go after... that and Hockey Spoops. Harmonix pins are also on the list.
Honestly? What happened to the pins this year? Last years were great and I see this year's and go ... meh. Glad the feeling isn't just me however, seems lots of us are in the same boat.

I think they're pretty meh as well, there are a few I'm interested in but not really all that many. I'm glad I only collect all the pins at PAX Aus, and that's just because it's my local. If I was hardcore I'd be a lot more disappointed in this run of pins.

Going off of previous years, people will be lined up at least an hour before the doors open, which is at least an hour before the expo hall doors open.
