Yeah that's not staying. I guess it's good they're clearly working on refactoring their code? Even if they apparently can't help but fuck it up every time.
This is less Freeze Mage as a whole and more the fact that Emperor Thaurissan is a badly designed card that will continue to plague us for another year.
It's not like that's a surprise to most people. I think a lot of us saw Thaurissan and were like "huh. That seems potentially kind of... game-breaking, yeah?"
Man, the PC client seems pretty messed up? I get graphical glitches in about 40% of the games I play or spectate, and then don't see any further play Stuff like cards hovering where they shouldn't be, and tokens dropping too large (like drakes the size of my hero portrait on the right-hand side of the screen)

Testing, yo. It's kind of important!
Blizzard is a small indie studio, you can't reasonably expect them to check every obvious interaction.
I actually saw this live but looking back I'm pretty disappointed in his play. Obviously he got killed from 30 there which is bullshit but I've complained about both thaurissan and freeze mage enough; what's appalling is he didn't even consider Awakening on his reno turn. That lets him pop AND clear, and the face damage doesn't matter because you're going to reno. And killing your own board doesn't matter because 1. the drakes and ysera survive as well as 2. you have muster and the other awakens for out-of-hand damage to pop the next block and then kill him
For some reason, everyone rank 5 and better is roping every turn? Is roping the new meta?

I've been playing freeze mage without the scientist and its a little rougher since now you have to actively draw and play your secrets. But yeah, getting Dr Reduction out for once cycle with proper cards in hand is amazing/crazy/salty.
I'm trying with loot hoarder right now but loot feels awkward since sometimes you risk over drawing if you also have a acolyte in hand. I might try gnomish inventors maybe but dunno how well that will play given its 4 mana but it still allows an emperor play or blizzard same turn.
I'm tempted to try a variation with cone of cold possibly or maybe dragon's breath as well.
Edit: I wonder if 1 or 2 sorc apprentice would work, especially if you got a reduction on some of your burn spells already.

I don't think the speed indicator on the batte net downloads is to be trusted.
My internet is ridiculously bad right now while I'm still waiting for my ISP to fix the damn thing. Yet Battle net will show speeds two to three times what this connection is currently capable of.
So I switched from one mountain giant and two moltens to the other way around in my handlock deck and it's still pretty viable. I get that it's for today only and tomorrow I'll need to cycle out naxx and gvg cards. But hey, still. It's something at least.

Bnet client concatenates download speed + the speed at which it's installing onto your disk. It regularly tells me it's downloading at substantially faster speeds than what I actually get from my ISP/test with Speedtest.
re: Interaction changes, I don't think they're bugs, I think Blizzard changed a bunch of stuff and just didn't mention it. Also Wild Pyro + Equality very specifically does still work, the health just looks weird because numbers don't update until after the Pyro goes off.

Oh, I thought it was strange when pyromancer + flame cannon on an imp gang boss left an imp (after producing two). The new ordering explains it.
I commemorated GvG's passing out of standard by playing mech mage up to rank 5 today. I'll miss this deck. It's gone from overplayed to all but forgotten, but it's still very effective and gorillabot has really put a finishing touch on it. Outside of insane mech warper plays it's also one of more interesting decks to play and play against I feel. Board control decisions, quick games, and inexpensive to boot. The last deck that I know of that someone got to legend doing F2P.
On that note, the fact that there's some ghetto mech mage deck slumming it in tier 4 on tempostorm's snapshot only confirms for me that those guys over there are buffoons and their snapshot has little value.

Oh man, that feeling you get when your opponent has to spend both Anyfin Can Happen to clear your board.
Faced two Murloc Paladins almost back-to-back as a midrange Shaman. First game, I had a strong opening hand of Trogg + 3/4 Totem guy. He dropped Chargers but ignored my board. I went face and built up. He did the same. Eventually I pulled a Lightning Storm and Doomhammer to seal the deal (with the help of Rockbitter).
The second game...oh, the second game. Full fatigue match with me knowing enough of his deck to predict his plays. Dropping BGH for board control since there is no Boom threat. Watching him have to drop his second Anyfin Can Happen to clear my board again! And what's that, no Warleaders yet? So sad for you! Holding that Hex for the second Doomsayer. Watching him squirm with 3 cards left in hand at fatigue, knowing full well that one is Humility and the other is Lay on Hands. I've got a 2/3 Taunt Wolf, a full health Haunted Creeper, and a Healing Totem. No 1/1's for you sir! A 7hp victory!

I love the meta tonight. Haven't played this well in months. I streaked up to 12. Such a pity handlock is losing a lot of staples and that molten was needlessly nerfed.
Mage vs. Mage. We're both at around five health. He clears all my strong minions, but kills all his minions and his entire hand in the process. My hand's empty too, and all I have left on the board are three webspinners. (Random spells were involved.) He uses his last two mana to fireball one webspinners. Yes! That beast I get could be my last hope... turns out to be an angry chicken. Shit.
I draw frost nova -- not good when there aren't any minions to target! So what the hell, I play angry chicken. Turns out that triggers his last hope -- mirror entity. Meaning his last hope is also an angry chicken.

those are absolutely still completely playable post nerfs
Still makes sense mathematically to dust them as unless you are going to play with them immediately upon release of the new set, the dust cost doesn't change and it makes every classic pack you open worth that much more dust.
it is preferable to me to not have the moment where i go "oh wait shit i need a BGH for this deck" and then look at the fact that i spent literally all of my dust

That's why you gotta budget! But yeah, I've totally had that happen to me once.
What are the counters to freeze mage? I'm seeing about 60% of them during the grind to legend and I'm not sure what to play in response. I'm doing ok with dragon warrior but it's still touch and go.
I always thought Deathlord pulling an Inspire minion and having the inspire trigger was dumb. Same with a battlecry killing Mad Scientist making the secret active for the battlecry minion. And the Flamewaker/Stealth interaction was dumb too. So I like all of those changes.
Djinni getting Entombed has been and will remain the absolute dumbest interaction in the game, though.

Control Warrior is borderline unwinnable for FM
Ok, I'll audible to straight control then. I like dragon warrior because DRAGONS but armor ftw I guess

holy shit, that was fucking nonsense.
Some may call it BM, but really I just think the intonation is just surreally amusing.

no it seems like a pretty bad board and also the weird purple lighting on it makes it feel kind of cheap somehow?
