So lvl 53 been pretty much playing this flat out and it's been great fun.
Kurisa-gama in low stance followed by the back step is kicking ass. Revenant? Let me pull you close then slice you good only to get my distance by the time you get up.
Done some co-op and helped some people with a bow and a smile.
The loot gets a bit much at times and the cost to soul transfer my main weapon is over 800k
All in all this game has exceed my expectations so far. Good stuff.
Eyyyyy, beat Nue in only two tries! Would've been one try, but I lost the war of attrition and ran out of elixirs.
I kinda guessed Pokemon rules were in effect, so I switched my guardian spirit to the bull cow thing, and went with the earth spear I got from one of the second area side missions. After that, it was just a lot of running in a circle waiting for it to do something other than lightning bolts/breath so I could hit it, wailing on it after activating living weapon, three moment talismans, and a lot of repeating step one.
Feels good, man.
Everyone has a price. Throw enough gold around and someone will risk disintegration.
Damn that blob boss to hell. I get summoned by some dude at the beginning of the level and lead him to all the fires and a bunch of kodama, and then he eats the laser and I lose out on a bunch of rewards. Bah.

Yeah I ate a direct blast last night helping someone. Even with two water resist charms I took 2200 damage.
I gotta say, as much as the story is "whatever, sure, ok...", I really do appreciate their efforts to convey that period's history, even if that history is a bit muddied by the game, such that it's unclear whether the text is describing real world history or the game's history.
And damn, there are a lot of Guardian Spirits in this game.
Just kept circling one of the pillars so he could hit me with anything. Waited for him to do his charge attack and blow all his stamina, and then jumped out with a sword combo/heavy blow.
Did it in one try, and felt real good about myself! ...then I promptly sold the sword the lady gave me to the blacksmith by accident. Fack!

Buyback is a thing, though it's probably too late at this point.

Buyback doesn't even hold all the items if you sell a mass pile; I assumed that selling items went by normal blacksmith rules (only affects gear), but nope, sold all my crafting supplies and when I went to buy back, several of them were already gone for good.
Only problem is that it does not seem to scale? I haven't noticed any increase from pumping magic. Strength increases base unarmed damage, but the talisman seems like it adds a flat number on top of the base before multipliers, and the scaling for strength is so hilariously low that it's not worth it at all (like two points for 1 damage).
So yeah, unless the glove modifier starts getting real big real soon, I think I'm capped out on unarmed damage. Which, you know. ~700 damage on a bare-handed hit ain't nothin'.
Why is sense enemies so damn rare? I haven't found a single piece of gear with it the entire time I've been playing. I want to stop using Isonade, but it's just too useful to pass up.

It's a Legendary-class perk, if you didn't know. I got real lucky and rolled it on a reforge, but that definitely cost about 80 Spirit Chunks and whatever that amounts to in Gold.
I've been having a blast with this game. I think I've settled on doing a kusarigama ninjutsu focused build. Maybe dual katanas or single katana as my secondary weapon.
Just beat the second boss last night, vampire lady. Took me about 20 tries, then I finally realized that dodging FORWARD through her ranged attack is a good way to get some hits in. Also, anti-paralysis pellets help a lot in that fight, and they're pretty easily accessible from ninjutsu.

To follow-up on this, because it seems like it gets lost, Special Effects have the same rank system as weapons so - unless you REALLY don't want the effect, I wouldn't roll off a Purple or Blue effect (like elemental damage). Accordingly I've only ever seen them pop on forging weapons. Reddit needs to update that effects pool (I think there were 5 effects pools in the demos) super quick.
That said I see Sense Treasure/Enemies/Kodama all the fucking time. Meh,

So I've determined that the human AI doesn't know wtf to do with the high stance chain and blade yank > light attack combo. Every human enemy so far, every revenant. They just don't know wtf to do with it. larger demons ignore the hits but I just use double sword for them most of the time anyway

Man spear High Stance is the biggest fuck off to Onis. No wonder monsters don't exist today, because a super long pointy stick is the greatest weapon before the gun.

They get tougher. They can poise through a combo and a piercing rain so don't get too comfy. Also you might have a High Attack break multiplier on your weapon which is helping.
Fuck I hate the arena in Itsukamishada, especially when the boss isn't providing the clipping protection he is supposed to.
EDIT: Shaking. Managed to beat Twilight Umi on third try by borrowing a tactic I saw from. . .shudder. . .Darksydephil. Just waiting out the arm attack and beating on his weakpoint there. I will say the targetting for that though was some bullshit, like you'd target it but it would come out too late to effectively dodge.
I'm assuming the answer is no, but to be on the safe side: Are Twilight Missions limited-time events?
I finished Isle of Demons and the game gave me a few options. It says that Twilight Missions are only available during Twilight.
Do they permanently vanish if I don't do them within a certain amount of time?
Depends on how you define "limited-time event"; for whatever reason the game rotates the two available Twilight Missions each day, so even though you've unlocked the ability to play Twilight Isle of Demons, you can't because it's not currently available.

I'm scared i'm going to stretch myself too thin but the soft caps for stats seem to be generous.
So my build is pretty much Heart/Stamina/Spirit with every 10 points into those putting +5 into Strength and Magic it seems to be a fairly solid build.
One thing I have learned is that it is sometimes better to just run past the demons and open the shortcut gate.
Pretty much. As soon as I run out of elixirs and realize I'm not going to make it, I say 'fuck it' and beeline forward. Enemy AI in souls-like games really don't handle things like that very well, and it's been pretty regular for me to yolo into shrines or shortcuts.
Holy shit the ice queen is one of the hardest bosses I've fought in any game. Wow.
Those icicles. That charge grab. That said, she only took me 2.1 attempts. My key to success was running. All the time. No dodging, no blocking. If she's attacking you, run the fuck away, then run back and stab her in the face.

I dunno, I found her... not that bad? As long as you stayed at full her charge was really not terribly damaging, and her ice spears were easy to dodge.

Handy tip

Man I love how I went from getting destroyed by Yokais to Yokais being a minor annoyance.

Three sword meta best meta.
Also, how do you check what an armor set bonus actually does? I've got that western warrior armor, but I dunno what it does.
L2 on the item screen.

Still just 1 with Kusarigama and 2 with Axe/Hammer.

It's generally the point where a stat stops giving you a significant return.
Like say something gives +10 for the first 20 levels but once you go to 21 it starts only giving you 5 and steadily going down more.
