A support sniper that heals could be incredibly rad, actually. They get a scope mode still, but they can only charge a shot by shooting allies to heal them. Charged shot gets like a 150 damage boost for just landing the hit, but headshots only boost the base damage, not the charged damage. So you can do a "big" shot less often and deals the damage more reliably, but it will be a sniper type that can actually contribute even when played by the dumbasses who insist on sniping but still suck at it.
Though it would also mean fixing Widowmaker's scoped damage rate to be less than ridiculous, since nobody would ever pick not-her if the alternative can't easily bodyshot half the characters in the game to death in just a couple seconds, or one-shot most characters in the game in a second flat.

All the comic/cinematic stuff makes me wonder if they ever plan to progress the story in some way. They can add new characters to broaden the scope of the world, but it'll be weird if it's always frozen in time to right after Winston recalls Overwatch members. I guess the narrative elements are so completely detached from the gameplay that they can tell an ongoing story in external media and just never kill off any characters and they'd be fine.

well, they could still kill characters off
game is totally divorced from storyline officially, anything that corresponds is happenstance
I wasn't even aware of this game until open beta. I just downloaded it with the intention of killing time over the weekend. Now it is all consuming. This game has no right to have the hooks in me that it does.
Man I feel like I'm vibrating in my seat waiting to play this again. This must be what Tracer feels like 24/7.
Not sure if anyone will be on when I am (playing from China because work). But I plan to shoot all the mans whenever I'm not working.

Also, they're superheroes/villains, so it wouldn't be that weird if death doesn't stick.

League of legends did a thing where they temporarily killed off gangplank, then brought him back with new design as part of a story event. They could do something like that with a character like widowmaker, have her regain her memories/free will and join overwatch, and change the design to reflect it.

One pretty cool trick that I hadn't known: As D.va you can avoid your own ult's damage if you get behind an enemy reinhardt's shields
A trap is for fish: when you've got the fish, you can forget the trap. A snare is for rabbits: when you've got the rabbit, you can forget the snare. Words are for meaning: when you've got the meaning, you can forget the words.
Hanzo's arrow killed that Reaper; ice wall doesn't do any damage under those circumstances =(

If there's one thing new Doom has taught me, it's that I need to turn controller sensitivity way the fuck up in Overwatch and I will become an unstoppable wrath-God when I do so.

Oddly enough I think I'm having the opposite problem. I think I keep my sensitivity way too twitchy. Once the game comes out I'm going to force myself to lower it and see if I can be a bit more consistent.

I just put my sensitivity at a place where I'm not going "waaaaaagh what the fuck" all the time
Because nobody in their right mind would be talking about using a controller for a competitive shooter on the PC.
Yup. In fact, they are going to be balanced separately too.
I'm genuinely curious how well this will do on consoles. I think success is all but guaranteed on the PC by now. I'm sure the console versions will play fine, but games like this live and die by the community. I have a selfish reason to want it to do well on PS4 (namely lack of a recent gaming PC), but I'm always a bit skeptical how long the community, Penny-Arcade or otherwise, will last there in comparison.
How were sales of Diablo 3 on xbone/ps4? I thought that did pretty well, and Blizzard seems to be making a much more concerted effort at version parity this time around.

The latest Mortal Kombats do this. Arcade and Versus suspend disbelief with dead/zombie/evil characters alive and well, all "wassup" before fights.

Yeah, I was the same way. I had my sensitivity up to 14 or so and I was missing so many easy shots. I set it back down to default (6 or 7 or whatever) and I suddenly started playing Overwatch much better.
