I do kinda hope when they look at ult charge again (because of the d.va/roadhog conundrum), they think about lowering the overall time it takes to get them
like I know using ults feels cool and all but when every fight is we kill a bunch of people->mercy rez->rez'd reinhardt ults->we get wiped, and this happens LITERALLY EVERY FIGHT because the people playing those two are competent and their ults charge insanely quickly for how swingy they are, it feels bad man
and like I know reaper's ult charges way too quickly because I'll switch to him for a bit and do terribly and I'm like "god I'm shit at reaper, I should switch off--wait how the fuck do I have an ult I've done NOTHING the past three lives"
I just discovered zarya is s great turret counter. Yes please fill my energy and then I can pop in and out of cover lobbing nades that hit you and the dwarf repping you
The male gaze in this game is disgusting. The only way to make it worse is to put nipples poking through all the skin tight bodysuits.
It's not great on one character in particular, but I think they are trying to have other types of female heroes and putting out skins that aren't all catsuits and underwear armor.
Blizz has convinced me they are at least aware of the issue and trying a bit to address it.
While I like that zarya has a different body type it's pretty hard not to notice that the majority of female characters are all young and attractive and wearing skintight clothes, while the male characters have much more range in age and bodytype (and species).
I don't think any of their designs are a problem on an individual level, but as a group it's not exactly inspiring.
A trap is for fish: when you've got the fish, you can forget the trap. A snare is for rabbits: when you've got the rabbit, you can forget the snare. Words are for meaning: when you've got the meaning, you can forget the words.
I try to get decent at a few different characters, usually in different classes, so I don't get accused of sticking to one character regardless of if they are appropriate.
So I'm bad at the game, but i do okay with Soldier/Pharah, D.Va, and Mercy. And I do rotate if necessary.
Popped in a quick game before heading out for holiday festivities. Won handily, which is good.
Even though I don't like making choices for the playerbase, I do remember that when I played tf2 a lot I preferred servers that had a character limit activated. Like no more than two of any class. It forced me to get good at characters outside my normal picks and made the games more dynamic and less about cheesing, I guess.
Maybe Blizzard will implement a "standard" game mode like this for those who don't like playing vs the six Bastions. Which don't get me wrong, is probably fun for the six Bastions, but maybe not so much for the other guys?
At this point, I wouldn't mind something that just outright prohibits certain character selections for certain phases/maps.
Not because I feel stacking characters is unbalanced (it's actually pretty amazing that stacks of the same character can have an offense/defense ruined by even just one hard counter character), but because I'm sick of players who will play one character and one character only, completely irregardless of how shitty that character choice is. And it's not just low-level/new players, higher-level players do this exact thing as well. If anything, they're worse about it because they are just absolutely CONVINCED that nothing is wrong with the choice and it's the whole rest of the team that is bad.
And then two others players do the same thing, and the team gets handily stomped despite everybody being over level 30.
Yes, I too hate it when people try to play a game in a way that is enjoyable to them...

Wait. Torbjorn can rep bastion with his hammer?! Hoolleeeeyyyy poop.

I was in a pub group that did this to someone playing symmetra on attack. Just lambasted the guy. Turns out the porter was invaluable. So b careful with your sweeping judgements of what is good and bad.
I've reached the point where I can play either Zenyatta or Genji without totally embarrassing myself.
I'm not sure if I'm too aggressive or if the other pugs are too passive, but playing Genji usually results in my spending 20% of the match staring at a respawn timer. It's worth it for those deflections, though. There is nothing quite as satisfying as sending one of Hanzo's goddamn arrows directly back into his smug mug.
Try being a more conservative backline sniper with them. Zen is great at orbing and sniping down long sight lines while the rest of his team fights up front.
It's Genji that ends up getting killed frequently; with Zen I play as support/artillery and generally last a while.
Holding back and sniping as Genji seems to achieve relatively little. His projectile speed is too low to really snipe with (except against turrets) and his damage is only average. I think in a serious game I'd be better off swapping characters than trying that.
If you're accurate, sniping with him can do a lot of dmg. They can be hard to hit though. Whittle people down (or let your team do so), go in and finish em off, and get back out.
Also you want to be constantly mobile, double jumping, and climbing walls. I have a hard time keeping that up.

I agree. I also think it's definitely better than other games, and hopefully they keep improving on that issue.

So how are people making gifs of cool moments? Do they just record the whole game just in case?
Nvidia's shadowplay makes it pretty easy. You can hit a button and it saves the last 5 min of video.
Ah coolio, thanks. I imagine it's constantly recording a 5 minute buffer, so hopefully that doesn't ruin my performance.
Shadowplay uses Dark Magic™ so it doesn't hit the performance that bad. I can't use it because my card can barely run overwatch anymore, but if you're on something decent you shouldn't have problems.

Actually, you can customize how big the buffer is. For example, I have mine set to 10 minutes instead of the default 5.

Shadowplay makes me feel crazy stupid. I honestly still do not know when it is recording. Green or grey? I have tried both and it switched at one point without me realizing so I did not know which was recording and I got frustrated and stopped.

Why is zenyatta not a gross abomination and instead a male decent looking guy
Just had a game where we lost in less than 2 minutes on temple of anubis because Hanzo killed literally every person he saw instantly. We even went 2 Winstons and it didn't matter still killed us. Snipers ruin this game.

If you have the status indicator enabled, a solid green circle indicates that it's actively recording. A green circle with an arrow inside means that it's saving the clip to your drive (instead of actively recording).

None of the Omnics seem to have gender as a thing at all.
The various Omnics were very clearly built with a particular "gender" in mind. However whether or not the Omnic continues to self identify with that "gender" or instead maybe consider themselves sans gender who knows. Biologically they are in fact without gender, but humans attribute gender to non-living things all the time. Plus referring to an Omnic as a "He" or "She" would certainly be a way to humanize them and make it much easier for humans and omnics to get along- OW MY HEAD!
Oh Jesus, yep. This is a crazy philosophical rabbit hole.

They're robots. Their gender is as malleable as someone from tumblr.
I'm reminded of Futurama where they change the gender of their ship by turning a dial or gave Bender a sex change by changing his oil and banging on the chassis with a hammer.
I personally would rather see more Overwatch animals:

So does Widow not get knocked out of zoom when she gets hit? Because it seems like she stays zoomed in no matter what.
Which seems really fucking stupid to me, when there's things like Bastion getting knocked out of repair mode by getting hit.
If I'm flying out of the air in an auto-shotgun mech and blasting away, Widow should not be able to nudge her aim over to super-headshot me on the way down despite her eating a shitload of buckshot.

well yeah but zen & mond seem to be pretty clearly masculine in design and have masculine-sounding voices
