I really, really wish I could have each one of my "Teams" have their own pool of items. So that I can have an Event team that is fully equipped with the right gear, then my leveling team, TMR team, Coliseum, etc.
Part of me is so excited to pull Refia so I can kick out WWFina from the team I am building. Part of me is upset I spent so many resources leveling WWFina.
So, in putting the team together, I have planned PCecil, Agrias, Bartz, CoD, and (insert healer/buffer, preferably Refia). Does this setup look good? Should I lose anyone for magic damage (namely Kefka)? If I had WoL I'd probably drop PCecil and Agrias both since Aggy is there for Full Breaks and accessory damage at the moment. Also, is there any utility in switching out Agrias for Vaan?
Until WoL gets his 6* buff, Cecil is still the undisputed premiere tank who can also function as a solid healer (although lacks other white mage capabilities). He also has Focus, which you might not want for the Mag boost, but does give an Spr boost too (equivalent to Shellga). Focus would also be the main reason to use Vaan over Agrias.

My team's similar to yours, minus Agrias but plus WoL. I wouldn't worry about having a magic user on your team if you have a heavy physical team. There are a lot of ways to build a team, and it seems that tuning your party comp to the situation is dependent on the fight.
CoD/Kefka would be a constant in-out situation because CoD shines when you're up against human opponents, but unless you can give her dual wield and the right weapons that she's so restricted on, she isn't likely to be a mainstay whereas Kefka can be kitted out to have 400+ MAG just using in game acquired items, no TMs, and seems generally more useful to put out consistent ST and AoE damage. With Cecil using Focus, you can give Kefka even more utility.
With CoD's 6* upgrade though, she has some niche utility too. A clone of Esunaga, and 30% Elemental Resist party buff that stacks with Shellga/Focus. She also has a strong ST ability that is effectively 280% damage, so a bit weaker than Barrage, but if you can reduce the target's Dark resistance through Imperil or other effects, it's much more powerful.
Needless to say, CoD's going to be a monster during the FF3 event because most of the enemies are humanoid. For other events, she might be seeing the bench.

Ah ok, cool. And looking at Agrias' coming 6* form, I am pretty happy I fed her Gigantaurs until she was fit to burst. After I push through the FFIII event I'll spend some time EXP grinding along the Miranda Coast to get the new team up to snuff.

That is good to know. My Kefka is sitting at ~360MAG at the moment, and I still have to get the Wizard Rod from the Greater Demon trial. He'll be switching in and out with CoD then. Thanks for the advice!
I hope unit exp starts to be more plentiful soon. I have a ton of units that still need upgrades, and Cecil took all 100 of the cactuar from Halloween and still isn't capped.
Damn Pumpking Reaper! Got him down to about 1/3 health before he finished off my party. Made a couple dumb mistakes that cost me I think.
My party: (All 5* Max Level)
Kain
Vaan
Charlotte
CoD
Lenna
Friend: Kain
Using two Kains I figured I could chain the jump attacks. They end up doing 15-18k damage every other turn. Might try with a 450atk Lightning friend next.
Got him on the 2nd try using a ~450 Lightning, and Roselia in place of Charlotte. Then I could Cheer and Curaja on the same turn.

Solo run the EXP vortex. 1 run = 1 level, and it's pretty easy.

You have no idea how much I really, really want a Refia.
You have no idea how much I really, really want a Refia.
I'll probably blow my stock of tickets and do daily draws chasing one too since Luneth is also a really good prize catch, but I'm not sure what I'd do with it. Ramza's in the most precarious position in my party if I had one (once my CoD is up to 6* at least). All he contributes at the moment is Cheer and Ultimas, the latter of which is pretty much only good for when battles don't go beyond four turns... which is admittedly basically all of them. I guess WoL is of dubious worth at the moment if things resist Full Break... which they didn't in the Japanese version of the FF3 event at least.
I really want enhancing to come out already so Ramza can go full god-bard. Only another... five or six months to go.
Here's hoping we all get lucky and get her in a half price draw. Would save me dropping an additional 5000 lapis for an 11-pull.
I would wait until the final day to pull hard for her if I don't turn up anything by then, but I'll be on a boat in the middle of the Caribbean on the 18th, so I'm not sure if I'll be able to manage pulling when I should be on vacation. I mean, the ship has wifi included in my package, but still. I'm mostly either going to be on a beach or in a pool and my phone isn't waterproof. The rare times I'm not near a body of water, I'll probably be drunk and partying and in no sane mind to pull.
You could just get one of those waterproof pouches they sell everywhere in tropical places, even those cheapo versions work just fine for a week or so.
Can't they have a Zidane solo banner out for a day?

I like to consider the Zidane as a "We're Sorry" pull for my continuing 70+ pull streak of no Rainbows and a (second) Cecil & Agrias as the literal only noteworthy pulls between them.
I watched one of those pull videos on youtube because I was bored at work. The first anniversary of the game in JP had 4 banners of select characters for a day and the featured rate ups included a 5* base, 4* base Chizuru, and Miyuki and Zidane as the 3* base units. In theory, for every blue crystal he pulled, there is a 30% chance that it would be one of the featured units, so a 50/50 on whether he would end up with Zidane.
44 pulls later... and not a single one.
I hope we get that anniversary banner, and my luck is much better than that.

I pulled ~25 times on that Ramza banner between the dailies, a few tickets, and one 11, and I came out of it with 0 Agrias. Don't count your chickens before they've hatched.
At this point I'm pretty curious as to what my first base 5* character will actually be. I'm still yet to even see a rainbow crystal, so I figure it's a ways away.
Gilgamesh would be the worst source for trying to farm a Dual Wield from, being a 5* base unit. I mean, one can hope and dream, but from a realistic standpoint, it's highly unlikely.
There's no way to know how Gumi's going to proceed from here after FFIII. We've skipped FFXIII, Brave Frontier and FFType-0 now. We should be playing catch up with those banners first, but if they just keep pushing forward now, the next banners are Secret of Mana, which your guess is as good as mine if we'll actually get that - still surprised we even got the Crystal Defender Fencer/Juggler/Thief units - and then FFV.
After that is a banner full of FFBE story units (Luka, Elle, Dark Fina) and then FFT with TGCid. I feel like Gumi's trying to push us faster towards that banner because they know it's going to pay off big for them with the whales.
Outside of Zidane, the best options for dualwield will be 3-4 months from now (maybe faster given the rate Gumi's pushing banner units). Two FFBE exclusive units have weapons that offer innate dualwield when equipped. One is a 4* base unit with a dagger with 78 ATK or something, and the other is a 3* base unit with a 91 ATK water sword. Other than having to give up your second weapon slot to have access to it, that 3* base unit doesn't seem like such a bad option at all. Zidane would still be better, but if you just don't end up pulling him at all, it's going to be those units or nothing.

to me it looks like they are alternating between grinding events and non grinding events
Barrage is a skill to give to units who otherwise wouldn't have a way of doing big damage. Cecil, WoL, Leo, Celes, etc. It depends on how many units on your existing team can make use of that. Your casters don't need it, and your tank will only ever Barrage maybe one action every three turns or so unless you're doing trivial content.
How many units on your current team would need Barrage? And keep in mind a number of characters get equivalent skills that might not do as much damage, but are chain monsters which give them potential to do a lot more damage than Barrage does by itself.
6 here, with one of them already at 100% and the rest 0%; as well as 6 Russells. Wondering if I am ever really going to grind those out though... they are real low priority now and they take up a lot of slots.
A small part of me wants to go hard tomorrow. Get Refia and one or two Arcs for his staff. But in the process, try to blow some tickets for Luneth and pray for a Zidane among the chaff.
The sensible (but highly impatient) part of me says to do that when Orlandu's banner hits. I'll be heartbroken if I pull an Orlandu, but no way to give him dualwield. I won't be as sour if I don't get either.
I'd settle for just a Zidane or two so I have a reason to use these Trust Moogles and make Bartz or Exdeath break that 600+ ATK/MAG barrier.
Stumbled across a 625 ATK Dark Cecil on my not-yet-friends companion list.
For accessories he's got two Infernal Armlets (Demon Rain's TM), he's wielding a Deathbringer (DK Cecil's TM) despite being at 3.9% trust for his own Deathbringer, his Abilities are Blade Mastery, Dual Wield, and double Lunge Combo. And yet for all that he's wearing Bronze Armor, and his Esper is a level 1 Siren.
He's Rank 33.
My first true Whale sighting, and yet he'd be useless to bring to Rider as all he does is Dark damage. Definitely going to try to friend him at least, though.
