Conroy BumpasConroy Bumpas Registered User regular
Gone away from my desk, come back and Windows 10 is installing with my permission.

Problem is it's my till. I have customers

Anyway to stop it mid install?

It's got to 14% in 20 mins

Also my old till software does not work on Windows 10

Please please help.

I have googled and seen that there is a bug that's hit that's doing this.

I have customers in and don't have access to there accounts.

I declined the licence ing agreement and it's supposedly returning to Windows 7. You can lock this up. Delete etc

For future prevention, any computer in this kind of position (either the upgrade isn't desired or the upgrade absolutely can't happen unexpectedly or accidentally) should have the following steps taken to prevent accidental installation:

Remove the KB3035583 "required" update and set it as hidden in Windows Update. Then also set the Upgrade to Windows 10 optional update to hidden.

All steps are easily reversible should the decision be made to upgrade later (simply click Restore Hidden Updaets in Windows Update - you don't even need KB3035583, just the optional upgrade itself), which some third party solutions are not, but while active there's no option to upgrade intentionally or otherwise.

I wouldn't recommend removing the updates, they'll eventually just get rereleased and bypass your block list. Instead, use the registry settings in here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3080351. Use something like GWX Control Panel to set them automatically if you don't want to touch the registry yourself.
