That final tiebreak round was amazing. It is hard to justify playing any support other than Lucio. The fast recharge knockback, AoE heal, walls and AoE shield ult is too useful.

On the other two Nepal maps Zen is great. But for Sanctum? Lucio every time. There is nothing more amazing than concussing a full health Winston and Zarya off the map at once.
Yup, been on both sides of a bad first point push on Hollywood.
Feel bad for the team we played last night in Hollywood, our team pushed back them off point A and into their spawn, where they stayed for more or less the entire round. I planted my Reinhardt a little ways outside the front doors, forcing them to go out the side door and into the loving embrace of McCree and Soldier 76.
Wait nobody mentioned hanamura A as a shitty experience? 1 main door and then 1 entrance only vertically mobile chars can go up just seems drastically worse than all the other ones I've seen so far
King's row A probably clocks in 2nd for me but the high route is something anyone can take if they drop down and then take the stairs to the terrace overlooking the defense point, which also has an indoor path underneath to get behind the defense point
Again for hollywood anyone can take the alternate routes so i don't feel like it's as limiting as Hanamura
Hanamura A is frustrating because pugs feel compelled to filter straight into the room without even thinking about using the stairs to the right of the main entrance. A Reinhardt can use his shield to absorb damage while his team can dart down the steps and start doing dmg.
Usually what happens is, I pop my shield and blitz past me into the room and get cut down almost immediately.
Got my first triple kill last night playing as Symmetra. Once I got a better sense of how to set those turrets up, I had pathways on lockdown. Also checking that stats page I realized I haven't played as half the characters yet. I want to mess with them all to see who I really click with. So far Reinhardt has been my go to, but I want to branch out more and get a better understanding of how to use their abilities.

Once you get through the door, you can go forward across the garden, up the stairs to the left, or through the building to the right around to the point which is then inside a building with a huge bell in the middle which makes it more difficult for defenders to dislodge attackers once they're actually in there.
It can be a real slog to get through that gate, but even just one or two people playing Tracer/Pharah/Winston/etc forcing their way through to the back to split the enemy team from that big gate can allow you to break them up. I rarely see the game stop at the first point on Hanamura.
Hollywood has sightlines that easily protect both routes to the point and the point itself, and the point itself may as well be a killbox.

What alternate routes? The first chokepoint has no alternate routes that won't get you riddled with bullets trying to get to.

Even just one person playing a Tracer on most maps can crumble the enemy formation by tapping the point and going "Hey guys come and get me and I'm capping the pooooint"
Because invariably like three or four people will go back to take care of that one Tracer and whoops now the attacking team just plowed through their weak front line
also I have so much fun rolling with the Aussie PA crew, or at least the ones I know from PAXau, + @JoeUser aka Hammer Time
this game increases in fun exponentially just by playing with people you know
we need to get some more 6-man groups on the weekend cuz I don't even care if we lose those, I have so much fun playing with you guys
I am currently rolling with a lot of the people on GMT. It seems my propensity to hop on after work lines up better with their evenings. Really nice people...though I fear I whine to much by their standards...lol
Not at all, it's been great. The game's so much more enjoyable when there's more PA people grouped up

its a very powerful tactic and pretty much the reason why hanamura A is completely fine... because that little chokepoint crumbles so easily

The reason I kind of hate Hollywood is that the first point is directly in line of sight from the gate
And vice versa
Which makes that tactic FAR less disruptive on that map
EDIT: I realize this also technically applies to Hanamura, but because of the way the cap point in Hanamura A is situated, it's far less possible to keep both the gate and the cap point within line of sight of a turret and/or Bastion at the same time like it is on Hollywood
So Mercy is supposed to be a founding member of overwatch, along with Gabriel Reyes, Jack Morison, Torbjorn, Reinhardt and Pharaoh's mom, but her age is only 37, and she's very obviously much younger than the others. At first I just thought this was plot hole or oversight during production but I don't think so anymore.
A few days ago I was watching a videos detailing in match dialogue between character and Me I and Mercy had a couple interesting ones. For those that don't know mei's story is that back in the height of overwatch she was a field climatologist for overwatch, researching climate change in the Antarctic (I think), her research lab suffered a catastrophic breakdown that cut them off from the outside world and Me I as well as the rest of the staff had to resort to being cryofreezed. Mei was frozen for decades before being found and thawed out.
Anyway Mercy asks Mei how she hasn't seemed to age a day since they last met, and mei tells her what happened. When Mei asked mercy the same thing, Mercy changes the subject.
Mercy can also run into a Reaper and ask him what's happened to him, to which he replies "you tell me." Which could easily just be him saying "your a doctor, figure it out yourself." But it could imply that he thinks she should know something about his condition (rapid simultaneous degenerating and regenerating cells).
And lastly one of mercy's emotes has her check her own pulse, shake her head "no" and shrug.
I think Dr. Angela Zeigler died a long time ago, and is being kept "alive" by the technology that let's her seemingly raise the dead.
So shes either a zombie healer..(kinda cool), or an angel. with a magic staff.
good lord, watching this twitch steamer play overwatch and he random picked torbjorn in the middle of a match never played him before, and hes just dropping turrets in random open air locations and getting quad kills somehow
I've somewhat better results with Hollywood. Usually after the gate with the first point I go left and circle around the enemy team. A fast character or a teleported does fine. Usually what happens then is either too many defenders try and break away to deal with me or the back route is blocked of by turrets.
I wonder if they can implement combo play of the games, for time when Zarya black holes and someone else mops them up. Just two characters high fiving. I would love some combo highlight animations too.
the biggest factors in potg seem to be killing people who are casting their ults, and multi-kills that directly lead to objective time for your team
so if you team kill with Reaper Q but it was away from the point or nobody was ulting... that doesn't count as much as someone double killing a Pharra and a Bastion who are ulting

Like in my experience, people will set up a torbjorn turret overlooking the hanamura courtyard in a way that can fire on the vertical entrance, the courtyard, and most of the point except directly behind the bell in relation o the turret because the walls in hanamura above head level are actually windows that allow projectiles through (and aiming through them isn't an issue because of turret autoaim)
Bastion can set up in a way that covers the courtyard and the route left of the main door, and someone like symmetra or junkrat can easily camp the room to the right
Meanwhile if there's like a mccree or roadhog focused on ccing people who try to move fast though the gate then it becomes a lot less accessible
Sure once you get on the point wih any number of people it's generally not as bad but i feel like from my limited experience hanamura has been the most binarily frustrating because your strats for going in are so limited by how many vertically mobile people your team picked. If your team didn't you practically have to try the reinhardt ferry into the room on the right assuming teammates don't just walk in in a blaze of short-lived glory.
And sure the goal should be people see hanamura->pick people with options but :rotate:
It's still early i guess, but what i'm trying to say is that i don't remember ever having a satisfying contest for hanamura a as opposed to hanamura b or any other point so far - either the enemu team is bad and lets us in too easily or the enemy team is good and wading in is a massive slog
Disclaimer: i don't think i've played hanamura on attack with a full premade, only 3-4 with a couple of randos so obv ymmv with your teams coordination

So angry that I didn't get PotG when I knocked an ulting McCree up into the air with my mine, and then shot a grenade at him and hit him in mid air to kill him before it went off
came home from work and played a few rounds with the aussie crew
we had an intense, hard-fought victory on the king of the hill map in the mountains that was the most fun I've had with the game so far
This match made me really love Reaper, teleporting in and pulling off his ult to kill 1/2 to 2/3rds of the enemy team just as they hit 99% on the cap point.
That last minute was so ridiculous though, both of us 1% away from victory and Overtime going on forever as we just held onto the position for dear life. So glad we won it in the end.
Aw yeah murdering people with the PA gang feels gooood. Blank, I'll definitely be down for Overwatch tomorrow.
I am bad at shooters but I'm getting way better with D.Va, which is lovely. I'm okay with the shooter mechanics and slowly improving, I actually shot people as Widowmaker tonight!
Yeah, I had some good rounds with Hanzo myself. Killed a tracer warping towards me with headshots twice, then headshot a Pharah who leaped into the air and ulted.
Feels good.
Also we had some super clutch games where we defended the final points to the last minute against very well organized groups. Hella good PA times.
I still can't figure out how it decides who to give PotG when stuff like that happens
Like I've black holed the enemy team as Zarya and had someone ult to kill them all, and it gives me PotG
And then I've had the exact same thing happen and it gives the other person PotG
Yeah it's hard to say how it works.
I had a really good play the other night as Zenyatta, it was the last enemy push on our capture point, three of them got on it and I just went ham, orb of discord, headshot, kill, orb of discord, headshot, kill, orb of discord, headshot, kill. Triple kill, cleared the point, time ran out, we won. Match is over, play of the game kicks in and its... Symmetra? Don't see too many of those, that's cool, I wonder what it is. It's my sequence of kills from before, but with Symmetra putting her gun briefly on each target before I kill them. She gets no kills and my name pops up three times in the feed.
Like, it's just a PotG so who really cares but, curious as to how it picked her three assists over my three kills.
Playing with some rl friends tonight and on the anubis temple map were defending. We get up on that ledge before the first defense point when they have no alternate rout options. I'm Reinhardt just shielding with 2 bastions, a turret dwarf dude, soldier 76 healing, and I think a widowmaker behind me. They didn't move an inch. It was 100% bullshit.
That first choke on Temple of Anubis is probably the worst spot in the entire game.
Even more so if a Symettra has filled the one flank route with turrets.
As was used against us last night, having Mei put an ice wall right on the edge of that ledge allows the whole team to get through. I'm going to do 100% from now on if someone else isn't.

So few people seem to play Zarya and she is amazing. Shield, take some hits and then melt faces and throw black holes about.
Thankyou to whoever posted it for that tip about her shield resetting Mei's frost bullshit, it's made melting her that much more enjoyable.
Something I noticed D.Va was able to do was to escape the Gravitron Surge by using her left shift and boosting out of it. Don't do that though, let Zarya melt you.

I've been checking out some play videos, and I'm seriously thinking of picking this up tonight on the ps4. But... I'm sure I'll suck. The only other FPS I've really dug into is Destiny, and while I'm pretty solid at pve, my pvp instincts are terrible. But I still have an ok time. So it's not a question of if I'll enjoy it, it's a question of if I play with you all, and I kind of suck, will that spoil things for the rest of you? That's always been my main obstacle to pvp, that I don't want to bum out my teammates.
